Beane, please go get Clowney
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hughes, Addison, Clowney, Epenesa, Jefferson as DE/DT Star, Oliver, Phillips, Butler, at DT Last season they only had 8 but I'd keep 9. They had 5 TE on first 53 man roster - they will only have four this year -
Grade the draft
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course it is just like doing mock drafts. Just have fun -
Solid B. Diggs and Moss provide more weapons for Allen and Epenesa adds much needed youth to the DE spot Diggs - Unlike some that don't include veterans that are traded for picks I will. Diggs is as good as any first round WR prospect, has a proven track record, and has a reasonable contract. A+ Epenesa - solid DE that brings youth, size, and strength. Doubt he gets more than 5 sacks a year but he should not be a liability in the run game and has a year to learn from Addison. B+ Moss - good tough RB that fills a need. B Davis - decent size and has a chance to develop. I suspect he will be a healthy scratch most of the year as he won't play much STs and is not the gadget type 4th WR that Daboll likes. Replaces Duke. B- Fromm - I wanted another QB but would rather have had Eason. I think his upside may be a little more than Barkley but his downside might be as bad as Peterman. He has a JV arm but has played against great competition for years. He will easily make the team and they will carry 3 QBs this year. B grade getting him in the 5th. Bass - camp competition and good use of a late round pick when they had little other roster spots open. B Hodgins - slow off the LOS with little separation. Great hands and height but not athletic. Unlikely he makes the roster unless the keep 7 WR. If he has a decent camp, maybe a PS guy Jackson - little to no chance to make the roster. Pick would have been better used on a P or an OT or used earlier in the day to move up a few spots. Good chance he makes the expanded PS. D

2018 starting WRs versus current roster

Worst unit in NFL to the best in three years. Nicely done. -

Jordan Phillips - 9.5 sacks from the DT spot. Yes he led the team in sacks last year. He is gone. And yes Oliver played better as the year went on. I agree, AJ looks like he can do everything Lawson did. He is tall, stout, and a hustle player. Most of Lawson's sacks last year were effort sacks. Good solid draft pick. -

Clowney would have third highest career sack total on the team in 5 seasons compared to Addison (8) and Hughes(10). After his rookie year, in the last 5 years Clowney has missed 9 games. Not great but not terrible. Addison has only missed 3 in that same time but is 5 years older. He is a productive and disruptive DE. Not worth elite money I agree 100%. But he would make the defense better and they have the money to bring him in. -

Top 5 in yards (tied for 10th in takeaways) and folded in the playoff game, but I generally agree with everything you posted. You can score more points with short fields off of turnovers. That is why I want more pass rush. They let the best interior pass rusher go and now they have to hope Oliver gets better. He was improving throughout the year. Bringing back the OL and adding Diggs t back-up RB is perfect, but the offense is all about Allen's development. -
Are the Bills set at TE?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They signed a FA and drafted two TE's last year. TE has been the worst position in Bills history with zero ProBowl nominations - ever. But they added three new players last year and Knox looks like he can be great. -

I don't care about name on jersey. And I agree they have addressed the losses but they still lack a dominant pass rush. Hughes will be a year older. Both starting DE will be over 30. Pass rush equals turnovers. I wanted two edge players in this draft and they got one. It's the only missing part on the defense except perhaps backup FS. -

Hughes is still very good. Murphy is absolute garbage. Clowney is overrated but on a one year prove it deal he would be a great. They just picked up 5th year extension on White. Even if they wanted to extend him it would not affect cap now as it would have to be years after his current deal. They have the money to spend now. There is no tomorrow. Win now while Allen is cheap. -
Beane has done a great job of adding and retaining talent for the OL. WR group will be one of the best in the league. RB went from old to young in two years. TE group has more talent than ever in Bills history. But they still have no great pass rusher. I know Clowney is overrated but put him on that front four and the defense goes from very good to devastating. Oliver will be better and the free agents ends and linebackers are solid but not spectacular. One more move and only Allen holds this team back from AFC Championship appearance. Please go get Clowney!!!!

I have no problem with taking a QB. Just wanted Eason -

Wrong QB, Beane. He has a rag arm. -

Peterman arm strength. No thanks. Eason was the guy to go up and get. -
Rd 4, Pick 128: WR Gabriel Davis UCF
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Elite WR like Julio, AJ, Moss, and Megatron that have size and speed are truly rare. Separation is the most critical skill for a WR followed by catching the dam ball. Then size and j un moving ability comes next. Windows are tight in NFL and being able to out jump or outmuscled the defender is a critical skill. -
RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa

I agree. Except Beane and folks on this board keep saying they draft BPA. It's nonsense. They needed a DE and a RB after getting the dynamic WR via trade. Mission accomplished -
Please, Please Please...Never mind

No extension for either unless Allen gets better and they win a playoff game -

I think most on here are fine at #2 CB. They need a better #2 QB. -

DE and RB. Beane drafting for need again. Love it. Would have liked an OLB but Moss will be a fine compliment to Singletary. -
