  1. Thought it might be fun to put out some scenarios that would make AFC more competitive than it already is. Rodgers to Denver doesn't worry me much. Russell Wilson to Pittsburgh or Cleveland would really upset the AFC. Adding a top 5 QB to either team would make them legit SB contenders.
  2. If what you say is true then why do you trade up and give away draft picks to pick Edmunds. If what you say is true then there is no reason to extend him and just about any player can do what he does. Who cares who calls the defense. Any player can do that. Lastly if what you say is accurate, then I would counter Edmunds doesn’t do his part. He doesn’t defend the run where he is supposed to. Many of the rest of the players make plays in this boring defense. Edmunds does not.
  3. Giving up a passer rating of over 100 two seasons in a row is not even average
  4. We assume the playoffs because of Allen not McDermott
  5. Fixed that for you
  6. The issues on defense are the same as they were last off-season 1. Coaching - cost us the SuperBowl 2. Middle linebacker that makes no plays and who is supposed to be good in pass coverage and gives up a 100+ QB rating 3. DEs that seemingly get pressure but don't create negative plays 4. Soft against physical teams - see Indy and Pats game #1 There were two-three bright spots. Oliver was better. Phillips started terribly and then finished the season playing his best football. Milano stayed healthy. Beane tried to make the defense better. It just didn't work. Investments made last year may pay off next year. Rousseau flashed at times. Basham was earning more time at the end of the season. Epenesa looks like a bust that might be a surprise roster cut. But who knows. Jackson held his own and at worst should provide some depth. Draft CB and true edge speed rusher. Make a decision on Edmunds. Either trade him now or let him play his last year out and walk away from him next year.
  7. Amazing that Aikman would actually be worse than current ESPN crew. And to pay him top dollar. Utter nonsense. I enjoy Collinsworth too. I know I'm in the minority on this board. He says too many over the top statements, like "this is the best catch I have ever seen". But typically his analysis is quite good. He is not biased against certain teams. He is biased for who has the the hot hand at any moment in the game.
  8. Hmmm. Rams seemed to do well with paying Stafford, Kupp, Woods, and adding OBJ.
  9. A good solution is to change his salary this year to all bonus money with a slight increase. Then add a couple years with some guaranteed money next year. Its a win win. Diggs get his money up front and lowers his cap hit for this year.
  10. I doubt anybody disliked Neal on his rookie deal. Heck most of us think he is a quality player. I liked him in the big nickel packages. Our point is he can be replaced with another low cost version with the same production.
  11. Ok here is a different take. Only 3 of the top 10 special teams units even made the playoffs. Bills were one of them and a special teams mistake cost them the SuperBowl. Both SB participants were not in the top 10. Beane got his kicker. Great job. That is the top priority when it comes to special teams. Haack was a terrible signing though I agree with Beane, I would not have paid Bojo either. Cut Haack, draft another punter, and stop overspending on guys that are roster bottom feeders and have almost zero impact on the game.
  12. Bills punted 53 times last season. Only 17 were returned. Thats one time per game the gunner even might make a play in the punt game. Neal had 23 tackles all season and only in one game did he have more than two. I dont care if he is the world's best gunner, 17 punt returns can be defensed with another low round draft pick or UDFA. Here is a positive spin. Beane did a great job finding Neal in the past and he did his job well. Awesome. Say thank you and go find the next low round pick to do the same thing.
  13. I agree. I like Wallace but he will be too expensive. Let him walk, get a comp pick, and draft a CB in round 1 or 2.
  14. Highest paid special teams player in NFL is not how you win with the second highest paid QB. What does he do that any UDFA can't do??? He's a gunner that plays some defensive snaps from time to time. Someone posted 140 defensive snaps. That's 9 a game. Again he's a nice little player that you use while he is cheap and then you replace him with another guy just like him late in the draft or as a UDFA.
  15. I want him to understand you can't waste cap space on STs when you have a star QB on a massive contract along with others like White, Edmunds, Oliver, Diggs and others that have been paid or will be paid large dollars. Evolving means go all in to win now. Win now is not wasting cap space on a gunner.
  16. Puke. Another overpay for a guy that plays mostly special teams. Any UDFA can do what he does. He is a decent player that can get a contract like that when you don't have superstars to pay. Beane is not evolving.
  17. Trent Murphy agrees
  18. Prefer CB in the first round. As someone else posted, if WR then I prefer Olave.
  19. When last I looked the top 3 guards eligiblr for FA are all 30-32 years old. Get one of them on a 3 year deal. That leaves the draft to add youth, speed, and size to the defense.
  20. At Chicago in September please. Both my boys are in college there and I would rather go when it is warmer.
  21. 1. 1980. I was 10. 2. Even though I know of the tearing down of the goal posts for the 1980 home opener, I dont really recall it. My first and most vivid memory of 1980 was Ferguson playing on a bus ankle in the playoff game. I've watched several YouTube highlights from the 1980 season in the past year and still Ferguson's ankle is what I remember most. 3. Best Bills memory. I have several. I have posted this before but being on the field for the entire Jets game in 88 with my brother holding cameras for Sports Illustrated. Next is the Raiders coldest game in Bills history playoff game. There are several more. Those in person include this year's Patriots playoff game, Bills at GB just because I was able go to Lambeau, and Bills Cleveland MNF - met Al D'Amato in the parking lot. As far as other memories there are too many to list that I saw on TV, but Kelly beating Miami diving into the endzone on the final play is my favorite. 4. Favorite player of all time is Thurman Thomas. Jerry Butler, Fred Smerlas, Kyle Williams, Fred Jackson, and Shady are all on the list. Current is Allen. 5. My forum name speaks to family and may need to change this Fall if I move back east.
  22. Agree. He is best TE since Bills were in the AFL. You can't replace him with a rookie. Too many other issues to deal with. And a veteran will not be cheap. He is a top 15 talent that will cost top 5 money to keep. That is just how it works. If he was targeted more he would have top 5 stats. Just like they invested in Taron Johnson you have to extend Knox. Diggs, Knox, Davis, and whoever replaces Beasley this year or next will be your core pass catchers
  23. That's not correct. There is no dead cap hit if you trade him. As for the other posts, I agree he his not going to get the return Adams or Cooper got. But he would easily fetch a 2nd round pick. All that said he isn't going to be traded. Beane and McD will not admit their mistake.
  24. Seattle traded for Jamal Adams. Gave up a ransom for him and then extended him. Teams do this all the time. Usually with an understanding with the player/agent that they will extend them before the trade is made. Dallas with Amari Cooper is another example. I want to rid the Bills of Edmunds and his contract. Klein and a top 100 rookie pick can do what Edmunds has done for the last four years.
