2009 the TO season -Terrel Owens
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
100% agree. Makes you question the entire process. How a group of people could not vote him in the first time is insane. If not for Andy Reid and McNabb figuratively and literally puking away the SuperBowl he would have won MVP with one of the great SuperBowl performances of all time. -
Thank you for sharing. Wonder when Josh becomes famous enough that he can do the commercials without the shoulder pads and jersey. Better yet, how about SNL appearance co-hosting with his wife!!

Preseason - Around the League
Ethan in Cleveland replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok you have good points. No dispute about what happened in the draft and the possibe reasons he fell. Again I don't know the guy but being in Cleveland all the reports are is that he is doing everything asked of him. All his press conferences are professional and his interaction with the media has been basically flawless. Not complaining about his reps or the depth chart. Of course it could all be a well polished act. And yes I do dislike many athletes. I hate PED cheats and I am fully aware that steroids are used by way more guys than the ones that get caught. So I am a bit foolish sounding there. But I couldn't stand PED Murphy and hope both the current cheats are cut. I hate any player with domestic violence history. If Allen was accused of what Watson did I would stop watching the Bills until he was gone. I don't really mind diva WRs to be honest. And I really do believe there is a racial bias against black WRs who "can't control themselves" and "passionate and fiery" white QBs. Let me ask you and please be honest. What did you think of Jim Kelly? Now be honest. You said you dont like cocky arrogant self centered guys. So let's hear it, what did you think of Kelly? Was he not all those ? -
I chose Palmer because this was Beane's big FA move for the offense. He paid a decent amount of money for a guy with potential and next gen stats but hasn't produced yet. He chose him over trying to acquire more proven talent. I picked him because if he and the offense struggle there will be lots on consternation in Bills land. For the record I liked the move and the Moore signing. Both guys may just need opportunities to succeed. All that said too, it is going to be everybody eats 2.0 almost assuredly. There is not a dominant player but there are several very good options in the pass game between the WR, TE, and RBs. In a perfect scenario the targets Hollins got last year moslty go to a dominant Kincaid. Give Josh an all world TE and he will be MVP again. What is that saying, you can't whip a dead horse? You can only complain so much before its just background noise. Much like me complaining about carrying a FB on a team that runs the QB in almost all short yardage situations.

Palmer White Honorable mentions for Bosa, Coleman, and Bishop

AFC was the far weaker conference and the Bills only had a realistic shot to compete against the Giants. Kelly, Talley, and Levy cost us that Championship. McDermott had a top 3 QB with a top 3 WR an all world OLB, and the best safety duo in the league and can't even make it to the SuperBowl. Two home playoff losses. Is this really even an argument? Josh still has some prime years left but let's face it his game is not like Brady or Manning or Brees. He takes and gives out a lot of bodily punishment. He may not play late into his 30s. Thats why you mortgage the future now to win now. Parsons is not leaving Dallas. Pay Cook and give up draft picks for Hendrickson.

So it should be clear we won’t get there rushing 4

You can't blitz the great QBs repeatedly. They kill you more often than not. You need to sprinkle them in like Spags did to Josh on the final play last year. McD actually does send linebackers, corners, and safeties not too infrequently. The problem is partially the scheme but let's face it it has mostly been the players. Rousseau is at best solid but inconsistent. Did he make a single play in the AFC Championship game? Miller and AJE were terrible. Beane has crapped the bed repeatedly on DL in the draft and FA. Nothing is going to change. Just have to hope Bosa can stay healthy, maybe the PED cheat contributes down the stretch, and either of them are better than Miller was. And hope one of the rookies can make a difference. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

I was forced to watch PED Murphy start as one of the worst DE in the league for three years. Im not interested in watching another PED cheat for three years. It was a mistake for to sign him. He should have pulled the deal. But you are probably correct in your assessment -

Agree its preseason, but I didn't know you had to game plan tackling? Thought that was a skill they should have learned in college.

Didn't watch the game but by all descriptions so far Jackson is AJE 2.0. Any other GM in the league and this board would go nuts if they signed one let alone two PED guys. If the rookies can do anything hope they both get cut before they come off suspension. -
Should have signed Gilmore or Alexander instead.

Cut the waste first...get rid of AJE, Gilliam, Samuel, and make Knox take a huge pay cut. -

You met him? How do you know? Every interview he has had he says the right things. Work hard. Take my reps. Study. Get better each day. Everything you wpuld expect a rookie to say. Sure their were reports of bad interviews and maybe he is a jerk, but no one really knows. Lol... I hit 90 every day on I90 in Cleveland! But then again I am a brat...not entitled, I earned my way to being a brat...lol! -

Not to be picky but both Cleveland and Detoit have 4 NFL Championships each while the Bills have 2 AFL Championships so I'd be careful saying which city has better football teams. Bills NFL run has clearly been better. All three have some of the best players to ever play their positions in Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Ozzie Newsome, OJ Simpson, Bruce Smith, Joe Thomas, and now Josh Allen. And let's not even start with the fact that Detroit has 4 Major Sports teams with multiple Championships, and even the Indians/Guardians and Cavs have Championships. -

Working. Didn't see the game. Any injuries? Thats all I care about. -
SuperBowl or bust for me. Honestly if he got outcoached in the SuperBowl I'd move on too. He should have been let go after 13 seconds and if Hamlin hadn't died he should have been fired after the Bengals playoff loss. Why would a new stadium have anything to do with the GM or HC decision? That makes no logical sense either way. Beane has given him every tool to work with. Josh is at the apex of his career and there are precious few years left of his elite play. Reality is if they make the playoffs and lose again he isn't going to get fired. We are stuck with him. Only a catastrophic season would make Pegula move on.

Do the Bills Even Have a Hated Division Rival?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good question! To be a rival in my opinion you need to be on equal footing and play meaningful games. So for the 1970's the Dolphins owned the Bills. It became a rivalry in Sept 1980 and continued through the 1990's as the teams battled for division titles and had meaningful playoff games. Pats with Brady just beat us. They were ok with Stanley, Grogan, Bledsoe and Coates but always one step below the Dolphins. Oddly though they made two SuperBowls before Brady and Marino only made it to one - mostly beacuase of losing to the Bills! Once Brady arrived we were just not competitive with them. Can't be a rival when you are losing repeatedly over a decade and a half. Jets just are never good long enough to matter even though for some reason the Jets give Josh all kinds of problems. -

Good list! Each with an individual story and reason to be on the list. CJ was really hampered by injuries to the WR group in Houston - I think this is more of an entire offense to prove. Darnold will be so interesting to watch. He was bad down the stretch last year. I think the clock strikes midnight on him and he regresses terribly. Never liked Lawrence. I did like Richardson coming out of college but he looks like a complete bust. Young had one of the biggest turnarounds well maybe since Josh. Will be really interesting to see if he continues to play better. At the risk of getting banned for a week, where is McD on the list of HC's with something to prove in 2025?
