What Buffalo Bills draft choice surprised you the most on draft day?
chongli replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I recall there was a need and desire to draft a QB in 2004 after the Bills became disillusioned with Bledsoe. From one article: https://buffalowdown.com/2020/05/29/buffalo-bills-select-linebacker-b-r-2004-nfl-draft-re-draft/ "The 2004 NFL Draft is known for the QB class at the top with Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers and the Buffalo Bills did enter this NFL Draft in need of a quarterback. However, all three were gone by the time the Bills selected at 13th overall." -
Paiting the baby nursery? 😂

Dick Jauron, a new coach, needed players who fit his Tampa 2 defense. Whitner fit the role, as did McCargo, who was the only player in the draft who could play NT in his system. That's why he had to trade up for him. Whaley needed a star WR for his prodigy, EJ Manuel, to throw to. I was not surprised by the Watkins pick. -

I'm a little confused by your post. 1. I actually expected Buffalo to take McGahee, given the value. He was a likely top 5 pick who fell. It would be like if Jalen Carter fell to 27 this year. Of course we would take him. And Buffalo had a reputation for shocking then world back then on draft day, like when traded our first the previous year for Bledsoe. 2. As for Losman, there was huge talk of Buffalo wanting a QB that year. We desperately wanted Roethlisberger and almost had him. -
Maybe Tua did not the FOX Sports challenge?

My dad had a child with his third wife at 57. He retired at 62, and not only collected Social Security for himself, but for his child AND his wife (who was only 42 and still working) since the SSA considers her the child's caretaker and will pay her benefits too. So my point is, it's not a bad thing to be an older father! I don't think 46 is too old. Also, your wife is still young, and women have a better chance of bearing a healthier baby and having less complications themselves if they give birth while still in the 20's. So, 28 is a perfect age.

I think you can follow NFL rules where if the pick doesn't come in the allotted time (in this case, 4 hours), you can go ahead with your pick. The team passed over can still submit their pick as well. It's whoever posts here first get the pick. [I would prefer it if teams here had less time in the second round to submit their picks, like 3 hours, and even less in the third round, but I understand people here have lives, so they can't always be here to monitor the thread.] [Also, the team picking before Buffalo in every round here gets 8 hours actually, not 4. This is because the Buffalo poll must last 4 hours. Therefore, if the team before Buffalo misses their pick in the 4 hours, they still can submit it in the next 4 hours before the poll is finished.]

Wait...so you have Buffalo moving up 16 spots in the first, from 27 to 11, and also 18 spots in the second from 59 to 41, plus getting a 3rd rounder (72) from Tennessee, simply by giving them our 2024 first (in addition to our late first and seconds this year), which is probably going to be late?? There is no way this is possible. By comparison, in 2018, KC moved up 17 spots, from 27 to 10 to draft Mahomes, and we got their 2018 first and 2017 third (91).

So only 93 people voted? I guess people were out this Saturday.

An idea to expedite this would have the GM DM you with a trade proposal and you could simply decide for the Bills. Then open a poll for when our spot comes up.

A trade down for the Bills should be option for this draft.

Eric Badlands Booker! IIRC, years ago someone here tried to revive the look-a-likes thread tradition since the BBMB closed, and the mods pulled the thread.

We took Jim Ritcher at 1 in 1980 and Will Wolford at 1 in 1986.

That, or he was embarrassed by the post.

Yeah, he is a knowledgeable Chiefs fan, except for this post, lol. I don't know, maybe he was drunk, given the number of typos in the post and it was a Saturday night? Anyway, I agree it's never a good idea to post on another team's forum, even with good intentions. You will face hostility no matter what from many, even moderators. And some forums flat out ban other teams' posters, like Jungle Noise.

Well, actually there is typo 😂 (but I digress).

They make this device for youth (and adults too) to wear around their chest to protect from hits. I saw it at Sports Authority (before they went out of business):
