Broncos at Bills Sunday 1pm (confirmed)
CincyBillsFan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's what I found when I looked at their last 4 games before KC. I posted these stats and I would be nervous if I was a Broncos fan: I keep hearing about how great the Bronco's D is. So I went back and looked at the Bronco's last 4 games against teams that were trying. Sorry but you can't include the KC game. These 4 games are a decent measuring stick as they're at the end of the season and Denver needed to win them in its quest for the wildcard. Cleveland; gave up 32 points and 552 yards Indy; gave up 13 points (should have been 20 as Taylor dropped the ball before he crossed the goal line with no Bronco player in sight) and 310 yards Chargers; gave up 34 points and 380 yards Bengals; gave up 30 points and 499 yards. -

Detroit took Cooper away as he didn't even get a target. How did that work out for the Lions D? Your point is spot on and if anything is understated. No team in the playoffs is less reliant on a single skill player then the Bills. -

But there defense at the end of the season hasn't been very good. Sure any team can get sloppy and lose a playoff game they should win. But I don't see the Bills, who had 8 total TO's over 17 games this season, suddenly committing half that amount this Sunday against Denver. Which is what they did against Miami in that playoff game. -

And this is why "facts" can be misleading. The Bills victories against KC and at Detroit were arguably the two best wins by any team this season. -

And dropped passes. The Bills came out firing on all cylinders to take a 17 - 0 lead. But even here it should have been 21 - 0 as Knox dropped a 3rd down TD pass in the end zone. Then you had some fluky TO's and Shakir dropped what would have been a 55 yard completion late in the 2nd and the game was suddenly close. An Allen fumble returned for a TD at the start of the 3rd quarter set the stage for a bit of a dog fight. Even then the Bills had a 10 point lead going into the 4th quarter and out gained Miami in yards 423 to 231 and in 1st downs 25 to 16. Weird game that's for sure. -
Went back and looked at the play by play because my recollection was that we came close to blowing the game wide open in the 1st half and 2 bad plays by Kelly saved the Jags and gave them big time momentum. Bills went up 7 - 0 in the 1st quarter. Then after stuffing the Jags they get the ball back at their own 13. First play Kelly hits Early for 11 yards. Then on 1st and 10 the Bills get cute and try a shovel pass to Thomas which was intercepted and returned for a TD. Now it's 7 - 7 and the Bills then go down and score a TD to go up 14 - 7. The Jags kick a FG to cut the Bills lead to 14 - 10. Moulds has a great KO return and the Bills drive into the Jags red zone. Then on 4th & inches at the Jags 16 yard line Kelly is stuffed on a QB sneak. So instead of scoring and going up 21 - 10 the Bills are stopped and the Jags take the ball and go on a TD drive. The rest is history.

No it doesn't. The 10 - 6 Bills were old and in terminal decline. This years 13 - 3 (I don't count the exhibition game) team may be the best of the Allen era. And while Kelly was over the hill and fading fast, remember he couldn't get 6 inches on a QB sneak deep in Jags territory and he threw a pic 6 on a freaking shovel pass, Allen is at the top of his game.

The Bengal's defense is what got them to that Super Bowl a couple of years ago and was a big reason they made the conference championship the following year. There had to be a scapegoat and it wasn't going to be Taylor. We had a snowstorm today down here in Cincy (over a foot) and while I was shoveling was listening to Bengal's talk radio and a lot of callers didn't want to see the DC fired. In fact I would characterize it as a real disquiet that this will not help them next year when they put a likely inferior coach in at DC.

Bishop and Hamlin play different positions. Bishop needs to beat out Rapp who is having a great year. -

The Ravens took their foot off the pedal. It was 24 - 10 at half and 38 - 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter. -

Yea but two of those wins came against the top seeds in each conference with a combined 30 - 3 record (I don't count KC's last game where they played their water boy). After last nights result that 48 - 42 win at Detroit is looking very impressive. The fact is that when the games mattered the Bills lost 3 games each to a division winner and on the road. -

Also while he did throw 3 INT's in the game, Cleveland's Winston lit the Bronco's D up in Denver to the tune of 500 yards passing and 4 TD's. And let's not forget the Indy game, again in Denver, where the Bronco's could only manage 193 total yards of offense but the Colts had that embarrassing Taylor fumble when he dropped the ball 6 inches before cruising into the end zone to score a TD that would have put Indy up 20 - 7 late in the 3rd quarter. BTW both these games were in the 2nd half of the season. -

It's wishful thinking on the part of the ESPN "experts". As others have noted playing at home matching our strength against Denver's is not a bad matchup in the playoffs where everyone is at least a solid team. As for Surtain, I suspect he'll stick to Cooper and we'll Detroit Denver's butt. Also, doesn't man coverage lead to some big QB runs? -
The Lions dominating win over the Vikings in which late in the 4th quarter Minn still hasn't scored a TD also helps Allen's case for MVP. That victory at Detroit where Allen had a fantastic game looks even better today.

I think their dark horse MVP campaigns are done. -
Well so far tonight the dark horse MVP campaigns of Goff & Darnold are going down the toilet.

Both Goff & Darnold are struggling. -
The fear of the Bengal's borders on the psychotic. They have won 5 in a row against bad to average football teams and they needed a fair amount of luck to secure 3 of those 5 wins. Check out the QB's they've faced over this span: Dorian Thompson Robinson (no TD's & 6 INT's); Cooper Rush; Mason Rudolf/Will Levis (4 INT's in that game), Bo Nix (rookie) and Russel Wilson. Wilson has been awful over the Steelers 4 game losing streak with 4 TD's & 4 TO's including a pick 6 and 2 RZ INT's. Wait until the Bengal's D gets a taste of Allen after facing the crap they've faced at QB during their winning streak.

Well the punter is probably the only sure thing.
-
Yes it is. But if I'm a voter and twice I've awarded Jackson the MVP for his regular season play only to see him flame out in the playoffs that same season I'm going to think long and hard before giving him a 3rd MVP until he shows that it translates to his post season success.

Hell if Miami wins against a Jet's team running for the bus harder then a hippo runs for water, the Bengals don't get in.

12/29/24 GAMEDAY Week 17 Bills vs Jets Post Game Thread
CincyBillsFan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
IMO there was no chance that the Jet's player would intercept that ball. Or to put it differently if Coleman isn't there that ball sails over the Jets players hand and is caught by Johnson for the TD. Also don't forget that Allen hand signaled Coleman to that spot in the end zone. Earlier Coleman had signaled to Allen to get the ball higher on a similar play. Allen got the ball higher to Coleman who was exactly where Allen wanted him to be be. The evidence is overwhelming that this TD had nothing to do with luck.
