Jets select Adam Gase as HC
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m totally good with him staying in our division. Let’s make it 5-1 against Gase in 2019! -
Wow--how did you come across that one @The Real Buffalo Joe? Kudos for digging in the stacks to offer up this gem! This has to be the most likely never to be rebooted show of all time Mister Ed. Used to like watching it as a kid during the Nick At Nite runs of all of the old sitcoms, but I just can't imagine what form a reboot could possibly take of the premise.

Denver Broncos to hire Vic Fangio as HC

The main problem with firing Elway currently, is not that he is a legend of their past, IMO, but that he added another Lombardi trophy to their haul as a GM 3 years ago, along with another SB appearance before that, to go along with a significant # of division titles. He's definitely been under-performing the last couple years though, and at some point you have to think ownership's patience will run out with even him. -

Making the right coordinator hires will be even more critical for him then (credit goes here to Captain Obvious who did a heckuva research job for this post), as a resource to assist getting up to speed. Look at the Falcons of late for an extreme example of this--both Koetter and Mularkey back in the fold there under Quinn. -

Introducing...your new Secretary of the Interior! (As soon as funding becomes available). He aced his non-interview by popular demand. -
He sure snowed us (no pun intended) with his whole--get me the snowiest part of Buffalo to live in, don't worry, my obnoxiously Bills wrapped truck is 4-wheel drive--type schtick <sigh>. I kinda fell for that to start. I knew the dream was over when he came out with the Clemson helmet for a presser--I mean, better than a 'bama helmet, but still, really??

Obviously I'm a biased voice, I mean, look at my pic, . That disclaimer out of the way, don't discount the value to a franchise of being able to draw upon its past to both inform and inspire, as well as setting a certain standard or bar that each successive regime/player generation should at least try to attain to/supersede. Why are some of the NFL's oldest franchises also its proudest for good reason, such as the Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, 49ers or Bears? They honor their history and seek to (mostly) do that level proud, while at the same time forging updated offensive/defensive identities along the way to help sustain that. My point is, embrace it, don't try to run away from it. I'm not arguing to keep schemes the same, I'm arguing that past excellence to the extent that your franchise ever had it, should be the standard by which later eras are judged in comparison, and that's not a bad thing! And if there are some things that obviously worked back then, which could help you contemporaneously, why not try to incorporate it? Much of the Bills no-huddle approach in the 90's, such as a competent QB able to act as his own field general was still relevant as recently as Peyton's run in Indy, where he tweaked the no huddle to fit what worked for his skill set there. Football is football. How many times can it be re-invented before what is old becomes new yet again, like fashion? Frank Reich is who he is today because of his lifetime of football experience and IQ, a foundation honed in Buffalo in the 90's. How exactly is that irrelevant now to the success he's had over the past few years in coaching? Just my .02 cents, worthless as it is. Carry on. Also, many complaints were raised on this board this very year (not sure if you are included in this) that our FO/HC combo was too stuck in the 1950's...but now they're suddenly cutting edge compared to the 90's? That rationale is giving me mental whiplash.

A Question for Bills fans?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To the contrary, the Pack have always been “rootable” for me where Buffalo is unaffected by the outcome—franchise has a legendary history, is fellow small market-ish and usually does things the right way. Past couple years have taken some of the sheen off for me, but still overall would never say I dislike them the way I do every AFC team outside the Bills pretty much. I especially root for the Pack when playing Dallas, Giants, and ‘Skins. ? -
For such an occasion, shouldn’t there be some kind of a free cake ? giveaway or voucher for a free drink to the first 20K who respond to this thread? Congrats @Gugny

Shady throwing shade at Bills O lineman
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Don't stop billievein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Social media strikes again. Just don’t press send, even if it’s true. Something to be said for keeping beefs in house and presenting a united front to the outside. Didn’t hear Josh ever say peep about the line negatively even though he couldn’t have been blamed if he had, right? Also, what will be Shady’s excuse if next year his production remains stunted behind 3-4 new starters on the line? That they haven’t been able to “gel” properly? Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities and not fall down the second your jersey gets sniffed by a D tackle... -
Josh Allen advanced metrics darling?

Also wonder if some teams will copy what SD just did against the Ravens in stopping Lamar with 7 DB’s, and what a good counter to that would be? Obviously the Ravens never adjusted so it would have to be figured out from scratch ? -
Indifferent is really the best way of describing it; as a transplant to the Atlanta area, not only are they (Falcons) not the Bills obviously, but not even the team that would represent my hometown area (Steelers), so I’m basically 2 levels removed from any nominal rooting interest. Doesn’t affect my day in the slightest if they’re doing good or bad. ^^^^This.

So was Harbaugh digging his heels in at the expense of possibly providing a veteran spark a/k/a Flacco off the bench? According to Peter King in his writeup of this game for FMIA, the Chargers played the same D personnel grouping of 7DB’s almost the whole game, but the Ravens just never adjusted, so it kept working. If I’m a Ravens fan, I’d be furious this morning that my coaching staff did exactly zilch to counter or provide a spark.

09.23.18. The Leap heard ‘round the world announcing we had a player at QB for the first time in a long time. The upset against the Vikes on their home turf. JA as the starting QB on the road 1st game, everyone calling for a blowout of epic proportions against us, including many on these boards ?. Oh, and my wife and I were in the hospital because my youngest decided to be born that day too—all around an unforgettable awesome day! ? Honorable mentions: that time someone lost 5K betting against the Bills and the subsequent drama here; the Jags game, and Miami beat down with Kyle showing Kelvin how to track in a pass to completion...

NFL fines Jordan Mills more than Kiko and Quinn
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL just can’t get out of its own way to help itself...constantly making ridiculous gaffes like this that are a PR dud. How do you justify this? Can our boy appeal the fine and argue disproportionality? Either way, Terry or Josh, step up.
