Why moving on from McDermott is tough due to logistics
Dan Darragh replied to iccrewman112's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hey, Terry got us Lindy! See, he's doing stuff. -
That 1966 AFL Championship game was the first time I ever sat down and watched a Bills game on TV (I think it may have been the first time I watched a football game start to finish). I was 11 and it occurred to me that, living in Rochester, Buffalo was OUR team. (In those days, the Bills played the occasional preseason game at Aquinas Stadium in Rochester.) Anyway, this is an important anniversary for me. And against KC again!

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Dan Darragh replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jerry Kramer threw the block that enabled Starr to score the TD. I remember reading his description of looking for a soft spot in the icy turf to get better footing to make the block. -

It's my favorite football pic since this one of Bart Starr's TD in the Ice Bowl (which was hanging in my bedroom for years afterwards). -

Best way to keep Brady is to win on Sunday and keep him fully occupied until Feb. 9

Our 1st Title team: 1964 Buffalo Bills
Dan Darragh replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Actually no. I recall a sports trivia question that was making the rounds back in the 1980s, that went like this: In 1963 the MVPs of the NL, AL, NFL and AFL all wore #32. Who were they? NL - Sandy Koufax AL - Elston Howard NFL- Jim Brown AFL - Cookie Gilchrist Except that I now know that this was FAKE NEWS. Not only didn't Cookie wear 32, but his MVP year was the season before that (in 1962). I'm so disillusioned. What hard truths will I learn next? That they've used modern technology to determine that Frank Wycheck's pass was actually an illegal forward lateral? That Fitzpatrick's pass to Stevie Johnson was actually a legal catch? That there was a clock error and there should have only been 3 seconds on the clock, not 13? -

Bills fans Super Bowl 25 watch party
Dan Darragh replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
I stayed up all night to watch that game (was living 7 time zones ahead of Buffalo). -
You should probably look up optimize. And while you're at it, look up infer. One way or the other I won't need the anxiety pills by Monday.
-
If you think the objective of the coaching staff is to get Cooper more balls, then you're right, they haven't optimized him. If you think the objective of the coaching staff is to get the Bills to win games, then the 11-1 record with Coop on the team speaks volumes. And no, I'm done being drunk from the game, now I'm taking anxiety pills before the next one.
-
Since Cooper joined the team, he has only 20 receptions on 32 targets in 10 games. The Bills are 11-1 in those games and they scored 42 points in the one loss. (I'm not counting the JV game in week 18) Seems to me the Bills coaching staff has pretty much optimized Cooper. It gives lie to the claims that the Bills were fatally flawed by the lack of a "true #1 WR". The OP got it right in his famous "quietly better" post.

The Bills Social Media Team is on Crack
Dan Darragh replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm waaaaay too old to have any hope of understanding this stuff, but for people of my generation this is roughly equivalent to "Revolution #9" -
I remember the last game at the Rockpile. I wasn't there; I was listening to it on the radio from my parents' home in Rochester. When the game ended, they played "Auld Lang Syne," and the fans started to pull down the goalposts. Van Miller was very concerned that the fans would get hurt by the metal goalposts (as the goalposts of the old days, that were routinely pulled down by the fans after a championship game, were made out of wood.) I wonder what the last game at the Ralph will be like.

Look up "hot take" in the dictionary and they actually have a picture of this post.
