  1. We were due to go to Majorca on 1st August. It was touch and go whether we'd be able to travel and/or have restrictions on what we can do when we get there and possible quarantine on our return to the UK. To remove any of the worry we took the travel companies offer of being able to amend our holiday without a charge. So we re-booked for July next year but managed to get an extra day, private airport transfers and extra baggage allowance for the same price of the original holiday. We felt doing this would take away any worry of anxieties we have about going away this summer. Our 9 year old took the news remarkably well ?
  2. Not personally and all the pubs are shut so the Tad lager isn’t going anywhere at the moment!
  3. You assume correctly. Although I’ve not seen either of the Sunderland series on Netflix. As already mentioned, the North East of England is very similar to Buffalo. Hardworking, non-flashy folk who are extremely passionate and defensive about their teams. Interestingly, Sunderland also had a great old stadium which was slowly becoming too dated for the direction soccer was going in this country in the 90’s. They opened a new stadium in the late 90’s and had some initial and relative success. They never won a major trophy despite finishing well into the top 10 of the Premier League. Honestly, if you think rivalries in the US are mad the rivalry between Sunderland and Newcastle is berserk. It’s pure hatred. Neither team have ever been that successful which is a testament to the attendances both teams are still getting. Either North-East team is a great comparison to the Bills.
  4. I jumped ahead and just watched the game via "game in 40". I'm standing by my original comment. We never looked like winning this game. The D deserved so much better than what the O offered up. The first quarter was an abomination. We were never closer than 4 points other than at kick off. The refs got us out of jail on more than a few occasions and there must have been at least 10 offensive plays for negative yards.
  5. I will. I'm ploughing my way through last season't games. Only up to the week 3 game v Bengals at the moment.
  6. I'm yet to re-watch this game but my abiding memory is we never looked like winning it or deserved to. You know when a midget tries to fight a normal sized person and gets held off by a strong arm to the head? That's how I remember this game going.
  7. Sunderland fans > Newcastle fans
  8. I'm not sure if it happened in America but here in the UK a fishmonger would come into pubs and clubs (was always on Sunday night in the club I was in) selling sea food snacks. Everytime they would come in with their basket of disgusting smelling food all you could hear was shouts of "Hey, mate. Have you got crabs?". The bloke must have heard it millions of times. Then, one night he came in and someone shouted "have you got any mussels?". The bloke seemed genuinely pleased there wasn't a mention of crabs. When he replied "yes, I've got mussels" he got the reply "then why aren't you carrying two baskets?!". He wasn't happy.
  9. Comedy is such a personal thing. Like taste in music and what you look for in the opposite sex (or same sex!). My favourite British comedies are Early Doors, Phoenix Nights, The Inbetweeners and House of Fools of the more modern era. Some of the "oldies" I like are Porridge, Citizen Smith and Only Fools & Horses. Although over the years OF&H has been overplayed. One of the Sky channels is basically devoted to it.
  10. Oh yes, the little one doesn't watch Family Guy. I'm not sure I could answer the questions it would raise!
  11. I'm not a massive fan of American comedy in general (no offence, I prefer your dramas and football) but the ones I'd say I enjoyed are Cheers, Frazier & The Goldbergs. The Simpsons and Family Guy do get watch too. The Simpsons is great as I can watch that with my son. He enjoys the fact it's a cartoon and is silly and I can take in the humour which isn't obvious to young children.
  12. I think you're suffering from Irritable Owl Syndrome.
  13. It would have been a small ring but then Bennett happened.
  14. Pegula's Bar - Liquor at the front, Poker round the back.
  15. Yes, I use a squeegee. I chose to go down the traditional route as my selling point as the vogue these days seem to be the "reach and wash" poles. I like to get up to the window and make sure it's finished correctly with grade A scrim. I wash the windows with water and general washing liquid with an applicator before using the squeegee to clear the "soap". I have been sent some specialist window cleaning detergent by the equipment supplier I use so I'm going to try that in the water the next time I clean my own house windows to see how it performs. You just need to make sure you get the correct mix between liquid and water. I apply the liquid direct to the applicator and then dip it in the water when required. I've never used coffee filters or heard of that to help clean windows.
  16. Defensive backs with confidence tend to be a little more extrovert than that ?
  17. I offered to clean my neighbours' windows during the restrictions and it kind of snowballed into me setting up a window cleaning business. This will be extra to my "normal" job as a Fund Accountant. So far I've enough custom for a extra day's work a month. With a bit more basic marketing I'm confident of getting this up to 2 days a month which will make me around a further £3k a year which will boost my pension pot or even get me back over to Buffalo for a game. Window cleaning was my first job when I finished school and I ended up doing for 3 years while I lived the fun life while I was between 18 and 21. I settled down in life after that but I always wanted to go back to working in a job I felt my happiest. The current situation opened the door to this and I've taken a small step in.
  18. Bruce Smith. My favourite player on the team which got me hooked on the sport and why I chose the Bills as my team. Most recently it's been Kyle and on the team now it's Edmunds.
  19. I'm not a basketball/NBA fan by any stretch but what I am fascinated by is sports people who are the best of the best. Think Tiger Woods, Shane Warne etc. I know very little of Michael Jordan other than him being recognised as one of the finest athletes/sportsmen ever. I know even less of Rodman, Pippen and the rest of the great Chicago Bulls team of the 90s. I watched the first episode of this and it hooked me straight away. Just imagine being part of that scene? It's unfathomable to mere mortals. You have to liken it to the Liverpool/Man Utd soccer dynasties in the 80s and 90s. The great West Indies and Australia cricket teams who dominated for years with special players regarded as the best ever to pay their respective sports. I'll try and catch up over the weekend.
  20. I asked a question a couple of weeks ago about on what stat(s) do you judge how good a defense is. Well, this time I'm asking how do you judge how good/bad an offensive line is? Do you go by sacks allowed? 1st downs achieved by rushing? Time the QB has in the pocket? Open my eyes to your minds people. ?
  21. Jake Elliott was the first other player to spring to mind when reading this thread. I firmly believe it's all in the head with the NFL kickers. The vast, vast majority of them have the technique nailed. It's having the mental ability to maintain that technique under extreme game day pressure. Much akin to soccer players taking penalties in a shoot-out. The coaches will have to decide pretty quickly if Bass has it mentally to become kicker in his first season. The Eagles saw it in Elliott where the Bengals didn't. Elliot missed his first XP attempt in Super Bowl LII. After that he hit he only other XP and 3 field goals. One a 46 yarder in the 4th quarter. That's mental toughness with balls bigger than King Kong. Elliott proves it can be done with a rookie kicker who was drafted but the Bills have to be certain Bass is up to it in this extremely crucial season for this franchise. The schedule remains tough after the draft so I'm sure a lot of the games will be close and come to to XPs and FGs.
  22. I bet his parents were watching. They looked the type.
  23. My plan is to get settled and binge the entire second season and time it so it finishes as the draft starts tomorrow night.
  24. At this moment it's Allen and I hope it stays that way but..... I think Darnold will have the better career and be the better QB but that depends on how quickly the Jets get rid of Gase. Darnold might have to move away from New Jersey to overtake Allen. But then he won't be in the AFC East (probably).
  25. Missed 66% of his kicks and back home in time for tea.
