  1. So, is it purely racism when a white police officer kills a black man? If so, it would seem that based on statistics, black people are super racist because the leading cause of death for a young black male...is death by a black male. There is data out there that shows that a police officer actually has ~18 times more chance that they will be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male will be killed by a police officer. I would love to get your thoughts on this.
  2. This thought makes me think of the formation of OSHA. Before OSHA, workers were treated like garbage. Didn't want to die on the job due to unsafe conditions...we'll replace you. Can't make it to work because you have a life threatening illness...gone. I think what you mentioned about accountability is the key. I'm a nobody. In my everyday life, I don't encounter much diversity to be honest (aside from my wife and children lol) and I don't feel like I can do much. But those that CAN do things are elected officials who will champion REAL change that leads to more accountability. If people are not happy with the way things are....get the heck out there and VOTE. If there are no candidates that align with someone's ideals...then people should get out there and find business owners, community leaders, etc. who DO speak for them and encourage them to run for local, state and federal government. To me, that is where change really happens.
  3. Probably not a great idea to go sprinting up to someone from their blindside shouting at them. Some pretty unintended outcomes could occur.
  4. Terrible idea. Do you support it?
  5. Sad, and unfortunately true. It's also sad that those people you refer to don't think black people helped literally build this country while being enslaved. Pretty unbelievable.
  6. Yikes, that is pretty embarrassing. She could not be a bigger hypocrite there.
  7. I will take anything at this point that allows the team to get ready and for their to be NFL football this year. I usually only go to camp once per year anyway. It is cool to have them around here in Rochester, but if teams training at their own facilities helps football to get back this year, I'm all for it.
  8. 1) Trump was impeached. 2) When exactly did this vote against Trump happen....thought that was in November? 3) I don't think people need help turning on Trump. He is doing a beautiful, amazing job of that all on his own.
  9. That is !@#$ed up. Seriously !@#$ed up.
  10. Pretty sure Trump sent tweets (shocker) demanding that several states be reopened and essentially undermined those states' governors. Not quite following the flow chart. His copy might have been upside down.
  11. Oh boy. I just imagined this scenario and got really depressed. My guess: simultaneous fatality. Likely each of us choking on food while trying to multitask between a fight to the death and trying to scarf the rest of the 6 day old pizza before it goes bad.
  12. Oh, I'm him....just much older and much fatter at this point. No more split punches for this guy.
  13. Nice save...I guess...
  14. And why would her eyes do that?
  15. The 6% death rate is based on current data as reported by the CDC (those agenda-driven idiots). Turn off faux news every once in a while. Well numbers don't have an agenda. But MY agenda is to do my part to follow the Presidential and New York state guidelines on social distancing and masks. I never once said anything about our ability to deal with the current pandemic. I quoted statistics from the CDC. Please keep your ignorant agenda out of my posts. Wear your masks and do the right thing (even if you don't want to give reporters the satisfaction of seeing you wear it).
  16. No, not really. The true death rate based on current available data is about 6%. It will likely change once more data is collected. But right now that is the death rate based on currently collected and released data.
  17. Dude, I said the goddamned data is from the CDC, based on available data...not assumptions (even if those assumptions are from the CDC). I have stated over and over again that the data I reported are based on available numbers. I agree that at the end of the day, the death rate is likely to change as more cases are revealed (which I stated repeatedly in this thread). I have responded to this enough. What I presented, and the way I framed it, is correct (i.e. available data, with the notion that numbers could and likely would change). Thanks for the link. I did see that report. But again, what I presented are the DATA AT THIS TIME. I could not have made that more clear. I did not offer any predictions or theories (such as the CDC is doing in its report)...I just stated the data as it stands as of 5/24/2020 via the CDC website.
  18. Actually, very close. Thanks for stopping by. Read the whole thread. Read the whole thread. It has been stated over, and over, and over again that this is based on current data....which is all we have. The original comment was in reply to other pandemics.
  19. As I stated about 15 times. CONFIRMED cases. That is hard data. Anything else is speculation. I agree the numbers can change over time. Right now, the numbers I reported are accurate.
  20. The CDC is a US entity. Here in the US the death rate as of 5/24/2020 is about 6%. @Augie
  21. And how do you know this all mighty one? The CDC is not the media. I quoted the CDC about 10 times in this thread. I know certain leaders have tried to discredit the CDC but that is just political posturing. My profession is also in data analysis and economics. But really that is moot. The data presented by the CDC is the data presented by the CDC.
  22. Data may be incomplete but it is all we have. I agree there are likely far more cases. We simply only know what the numbers currently say. I also wondered why this was so hard for you (considering, as you first stated, you didn't have a horse in this race). Time will tell. But as I have said all along I am only responding to earlier posts regarding data comparisons and you and Timmy jumped in. Never had a beef with you stew. Good night. Off to watch some crappy Netflix.
  23. Wrong. Like I said, sleepy, the date we have is the date we have. Huh, what does THAT have to do with anything???? Yeah, off the rails. Sorry. Quarantine and kids at home and all. I think it's a no-go for fans but games are on. Good night too. I need to get out of the house. No hard feelings and good discussion all around.
  24. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html Current data (CURRENT! for god's sake CURRENT. YES I KNOW IT WILL LIKELY CHANGE) from the CDC. Articles are great but the CDC website is reporting these numbers.
  25. What are the faulty assumptions? The data are based on current statistics. That is how things work. I used cancer mortality rates as an example before. Those data are based on data that has come to pass...it doesn't mean someone with cancer can't beat it...it just means that based on ongoing data the rates are what they are. With these types of things, the data will be ongoing for quite some time. But the current data is what it is regardless of people's feelings or political fears.
