Brock Purdy (most recently in NFL) and thousands of MLB pitchers have experienced this injury which has prevented them from being able to throw immediately after. Granted they’re all varying degrees… but you typically get shutdown right after for a few weeks. Even MLB pitchers who get the PRP injection end up being shut down for an extended period of time despite not receiving surgery. You’re right, we don’t know specifics and may never. Based on the initial information it was a pretty significant UCL strain… we know that it’s a fact. Just because he was playing doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt and it didn’t impact his ability to make throws. Josh was out there because 50% Josh is better than 100% Case Keenum. EDIT: Brasoban made two relief appearances in the Dominican Winter League before being shut down with elbow and forearm issues earlier this month, Padres General Manager A.J. Preller said Wednesday. In hopes of avoiding surgery, he received the elbow injection last week in San Diego. The 22-year-old will be re-evaluated in six to eight weeks. Meanwhile, MLB circulated Ohtani’s medical history. Sources from two of the teams say the report included a notation that Ohtani underwent a platelet-rich plasma injection on his right elbow in October. PRP has become popular as a conservative, nonsurgical treatment to address a wide variety of elbow issues. In some cases, such as with Zack Greinke in 2013 and Chris Sale in ’14, it treats inflammation and irritation. (Both pitchers missed only a few starts.) In other cases, such as strains or tears to the flexor tendon or ulnar collateral ligament, it is used instead of surgery. Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka, for instance, underwent PRP therapy in 2014 to treat a small UCL tear and has pitched effectively since then. Other pitchers who tried PRP eventually needed Tommy John surgery, including Clay Buchholz and Drew Smyly this year. Tanaka did come back and pitch successfully, but it was 6-weeks from injection before he got back on the mound. Ohtani had a 2nd UCL sprain (2nd degree) after he received the PRP injection the winter prior. He received another PRP injection and was down for 11 weeks before throwing in a game again. Now that Allen is firmly on the road to recovery, a report from NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport has indicated that the injury was “worse” than initially reported. The QB suffered the injury all the way back in Week 14 but wasn’t forced to miss any time. “The extent of the injury, originally reported as a UCL sprain, was worse than most knew. But as long as Allen avoided reinjury, which he has to this point, doctors always believed he could avoid surgery and heal up during the offseason.” Anyone that I’ve ever come in contact with after receiving a PRP injection on a UCL injury has been shut down for at least 6 weeks before reevaluating them.

Practiced different forms of martial arts growing up… this always felt like second nature to me. I actually joked that Tua should take some classes in the off-season. I don’t get the hype around the guy, but happy he’s doing things to help prevent injury, because he is a nice guy.
-
Looks like simultaneous possession to me? Latimer has an arm around the ball all the way to the ground and when they roll over.
-
It was not a slam dunk. A neck fracture is an enormous risk… in the event something goes wrong and he can’t play… you’re likely the same guy on here saying “Why would they take a guy when there were serious injury questions?” Those are legitimate things you need to weigh as a GM… and every team viewed it pretty similar. This isn’t Madden with injuries turned off. The answer is hindsight.
-
Not just the Bills… every team. The Seahawks passed on him twice before selecting him lol. LJ Collier and Marquise Blair. This wasn’t a slam dunk like you’re making it out to be.
-
That’s not my point… you’re arguing Davis is great and upthread that Oliver is average. They graded out nearly identical. Sure, maybe he progresses and you’re right… but as of right now it wasn’t high-end by your definition.
-
Preseason tape... right. He played 40 snaps during the regular season. You can’t claim he’s a high-end pick. Through the first 5 games… finished with a 71 grade (Ed Oliver was 69). He played 26% of their defensive snaps… for reference Kaiir Elam (the guy you’re saying Buffalo didn’t play enough) played 57% of the snaps. Your opinion and perspective has been great so far… this is kind of straying far to prove a point.
-
Jordan Davis? What exactly did he do this year that makes him a high-end player? Did Jurgens even start a game this year? Nakobe Dean? I mean come on man…
-
I trust your judgement too. Who are your top 5? What do you consider elite?
-
Wait a minute… you jumped on Beane for trading the pick that became Justin Jefferson for Stefon Diggs… but Roseman is elite despite passing on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Reagor? Cody Ford instead of DK Metcalf but JJ Arcega Whiteside over DK Metcalf is ok? Hopefully Howie is elite, with his entire defense hitting FA, no cap space and Jalen Hurts about to get $50M/year. Luckily I think he is… but his missed are just as bad.
-
Okay… so what is their standard? The top of the NFL? By record? Kansas City Philadelphia Buffalo San Francisco
-
I mean, I don’t know you well enough, but have you worked for the elite companies in the world? How do you know what that standard includes? You’re comparing Beane to the elite football evaluators of the world. It’s the NFL… there isn’t anywhere else to look.

Please stop calling it a lackluster draft record. It’s not true… you cannot keep repeating it hoping that it becomes a fact. For it to be a lackluster draft record, it needs to be compared to the rest of the league, it’s that simple. When you go and compare it to the rest of the league, the “lackluster draft record” statement will look silly. I expanded to the non-premium positions below that post. It didn’t shift anything significantly either way. You’re hyper focused on all the instances of “Very Good” players that went after we picked - it’s a vary small number of players in a draft that has 250+ selected. The probability of acquiring a good player with those selections is FAR lower than acquiring a good one. Give me a clear barometer of what a “very good” player is and I’ll spend the time going back to break it down since 2018.

This is a disingenuous representation of what happened. Nobody said Wyatt Teller was a “bust” he was a 5th round pick that needed time to develop and they went with veteran offensive linemen instead. The fact that Teller wasn’t a “bust” was the reason he was traded… because he would’ve be claimed off of waivers for free by another club.
-
It’s not a waste of money… it barely even counts 🤦🏻 You literally have to bring 90 to camp… no matter who it is they’re going to barely count.
-
What are the ratings based on? Personal feelings?
-
Correct, I guess the narrative I'm seeing people try to create here is that the Bills culture is toxic and Chad Hall had to jump ship.
-
The All-Pro tree that people on this board seem to think every GM has access to except for Brandon Beane.
-
I know this isn't directly related to your post here... But it's entirely plausible that Chad Hall just moved on for personal reasons... I see it happen all the time. It's really not that crazy of an occurrence.

To be clear I'm including AP All-Pro 1st and Second Team. If you look at the entire group excluding Special Teams (43 Players) 4 Teams have 3+ Players 50% made the playoffs in 2022 DAL and SFO 12 Teams have 2+ Players 58% made the playoffs in 2022 DAL, SFO, BAL, BUF, CIN, LAC, NYG 9 Teams have 1 Player 56% made the playoffs in 2022 KAN, MIA, MIN, PHI, SEA 11 Teams have 0 Players 9% made the playoffs in 2022 JAX Almost everyone is with their original drafting teams: Calvin Ridley (Suspended and Traded ATL to JAX) Wyatt Teller (Traded BUF to CLE) Roquan Smith (Traded CHI to BAL) Minkah Fitzpatrick (Traded MIA to PIT) JC Jackson (Signed as FA LAC to NWE) AJ Brown (Traded TEN to PHI) I guess the point here... Beane is in the upper third of the league finding "Stars" (yes, the Teller trade sucks but we're talking about drafting and that's it). He's also been VERY good at finding those average to above average starters... at a rate that puts him in the top 2-3 in the league. He's not a bad drafter the facts don't support that - he's somewhere in the Top 5 when you consider everything (DAL, SFO, KC, IND, BUF)

Since Beane took over drafting in 2018: 61 players who have entered league have been named to at least one All-Pro team Remove Special Teams players from that group then the number drops to 43 players named to at least one All-Pro team Account for only premium positions (QB, WR, T, DE, CB) and the numbers drops to 22 players named to at least one All-Pro team QB - 3 WR - 7 T - 3 DE - 3 CB - 6 3 teams have drafted multiple All-Pro players at premium positions since 2018 Atlanta - Calvin Ridley (2018) and AJ Terrell (2021) Dallas - Micah Parsons (2021), Trevon Diggs (2020) and CeeDee Lamb (2020) San Francisco - Deebo Samuel (2019) and Nick Bosa (2019) 2 GMs have drafted multiple All-Pro players at premium positions since 2018 Dallas - Jerry Jones (Will McClay) San Francisco - John Lynch Thomas Dimitroff drafted Calvin Ridley and Terry Fontenot drafted AJ Terrell Based on the Bills draft position from 2018 - 2022 Brandon Beane had the opportunity to select the following players without sacrificing acquiring another All-Pro Player at a premium position: Josh Allen (HE DID!) DK Metcalf (Over Ed Oliver and Cody Ford) Calvin Ridley (Over Tremaine Edmunds) - Suspended from NFL Jaire Alexander (Over Tremaine Edmunds) Deebo Samuel (Over Ed Oliver) Maxx Crosby (Over Ed Oliver, Cody Ford, Devin Singletary and Dawson Knox) J.C. Jackson (Entire 2018 Draft excluding Josh Allen) A.J. Brown (Over Ed Oliver and Cody Ford) - Traded away before becoming an All-Pro w/ Tennessee Let's not pretend like these premium players grow on trees and are easy to identify. 2/3 of them were 1st round picks that we didn't even have a chance to acquire, and the group listed above had an ADP of the 50th pick... meaning everyone passed on them at least once... including other top tier GMs.

Currently? Joe Brady Mike Tomlin Sean McDermott Mark Duffner The Bills alone have had 3 coaches who are William and Mary graduates (and Marv Levy was the head coach there) haha Buster Ramsey Harvey Johnson Sean McDermott
