Um, Err, what "top notch" coaches are out there floating around? If they are top notch, they are under contract. Besides, it is hard to attract coaches to an organization that has had no stability over the past 5 years. We wanted everyone out and we got our wish. We want it all, don't we?

Every so often instead of poop the chicken lays a golden egg. Fans simply expect gold eggs all the time. Nobody, I MEAN NOBODY, knows how a college player will perform in the NFL until they actually play. I have to chuckle at all the threads that blame the coaches for players lacking the skills to play in the NFL. The expectation that a good coach should be able to turn any player into an NFL caliber player is pure fantasy.

Thanks for the analysis. What it comes down to is a 50-50 chance that a coach will be a success or a failure.

I think he will go in the 1st, but if he is there in the 2nd I would be estatic. He is a player.

Contrary to popular wisdom, first round QBs are not building blocks for the future - if that future includes winning the Super Bowl. Only one first round draft choice has won the SB for the team that drafted him - Troy Aikman.

So, he should have assembled a staff within 24 hours? Had he done so we would be hearing all next year how he rushed his hires. A lose/lose with the fans, I suppose...

I think Marv had the proper perspective when he said "If you listen to the fans you will be sitting with them." I am glad this board is outraged and complaining about the decisions being made. It convinces me that the right decisions are being made.

W/L record isn't everything folks. Shanahan was 8-12 with the Raiders Belichick 29-34 with Cleveland Levy was 31-42 with the Chiefs Then you have: Mariucci, who was 57-39 with the 49ers and 15-28 in Detriot. Shottenheimer, who has a .500+ record with every team he has been HC but never has been to the SB. So, bringing in any coach based on record alone is no guarantee of success.

It would be really nice if we didn't have to scroll thorugh copies of the original posting appended to every replay.

It is good to see someone else mention this. Over the past 25 years Aikman is he only 1st Rd QB draft choice that won a SB for the team that drafted him. In fact, teams have a better chance of winning the SB with a 4th round or UFA QB than a 1st rounder they drafted.
