I thought he played pretty darned well. I think that's a random shot, possibly a guy playing over his normal ability and I think the center position is one of the most important in football. I think centers get injured a whole lot and lineman, being presented with their first opportunity to take on the weight of 16 games, don't make always it through. I think the rest of the NFL was so enamored with Groy's play that he got one offer from NE and it wasn't for all that much. Give me Billy Price or Frank Ragnow and you have an interior swing guy playing across the middle of the line.

DRAFTING TOP 5 QBs NOT REALLY A "CRAPSHOOT"
Tyrod's friend replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Franchise only exists if the proper support exists around the guy drafted in the top 5 - especially for those teams trading up to get the player. You can't empty the cupboard of future talent, while your current talent is barren, and expect VOILA! HALLE_FK_YOOYAH some savior to come in and save the day. THAT'S what makes it a crap shoot. Fans want to go deep into the playoffs, they want to do it over and over again. They don't want Stafford, throwing for 4500 yards continually on a 4-12 team. Cheers. -
DRAFTING TOP 5 QBs NOT REALLY A "CRAPSHOOT"
Tyrod's friend replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
wow. Trubisky? LMAO. In a couple years you are going to regret writing that. -
Wouldn't you hope so? Taylor was in his third season as a starter with these players. He has already run the team for a couple months under Dennison's scheme. A blizzard and two quarters against a 5-1 San Diego team playing it's best ball in 10 years is the very height of SSS to me, especially in light of his experience. Personally I think he was given the direction to go out there and let it all hang out, that he had gotten the shot because Taylor was too tentative. If you're in that position, maybe you make mistakes thinking you are doing the OC's directive - but given the reaction from the HC, it seems that he wasn't unpleased with the performance. It counts a whole ton more than what anyone here has to say. I don't know about the kid. I like an aggressive QB, that does his homework and pulls the trigger with a quick release. I'm also aware that his self-confidence might be misplaced. It's an unforgiving league.

The Bright Side Concerning Peterman
Tyrod's friend replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will take an accurate, aggressive QB with a quick release that has done his homework and give him a roster spot every day. I'd have no problem if he won the competition this training camp and I have a funny feeling neither would the head coach. I'll take his opinion front and center. I could give a $hit about arm strength. It's the most overrated thing in football outside of "40 time". -
I had to go out of my way to find and "like" this post. Hey, I like Tyrod Taylor and I never got to the point of hating him or loving him. But value is what you get, price is what you pay. I like the promise of AJM, but if all he delivers is replacement level performance, so be it. Congrats. Good post.

From you? Nah. Although I did like that scene. Pay the man his money. Best line ever from Malkovitch. I like the TT. Didn't cost us anything to get him, got every penny's worth of value we paid him while he was here and then traded him away for a good draft pick - possibly one of the greatest values in the history of our franchise. Can't say that too often, and less often about a QB. Wait until we unload a stack of first round picks so we get a concussed QB that is immobile and stick him behind Turnstile. Should be real fun.

I think you trade the 65th pick in the draft for a QB if you want to win, Year 1, of a restarted program. The #1 in the draft then is about the rest of your life. The rest of the steps the Browns made (Landry, Hyde) indicate they fully anticipate winning their division in the first year or competing to do so. Their actions tell the story.
-
QB? We don't need to draft a QB. We have a guy that has completed 65% of his passes at Cincinnati. That followed a college career of completing 66% of his passes. Nobody in the history of the NFL has been unsuccessful at the position if they have been able to complete passes. Put some players around him, let him go. Get Ridley at WR, get an offensive lineman. Screw Ward. Fill up that offensive roster with high quality players to play with the best darned QB Mobile Alabama ever sent to school. Oh wait. You said Cornerback. Well, we don't need that either.
-
Better take a second look at that Brown's roster and project what it will look like after the draft. This isn't the 2016 Browns.

As a guy that has said multiple times that I think Baker Mayfield is going #1 overall, I applaud your enthusiasm for your opinion. I'm guessing my endorsement should be about as welcome as neo-Nazi's supporting a politician. But there you go. (Rosen immobility + concussion history) divided by our offensive line ^ of our WR core = Tragedy.

McCarron Peterman Garrapolo Rudolph (rumored starting point) and to this point Mahomes What do each of these guys have in common? Backups. 5.3-5.69 Backup 5.7-5.99 Could become an early NFL starter. You have to say those scores are INCREDIBLY accurate. I don't about all the rest of the scores but just based on those guys? And ...Obviously as you increase the score you become closer to getting to be not only an Early NFL Starter but Could Become Good NFL Starter. Watson, 5.9

Kelly and Marino's completion percentage was remarkably similar to the top ten NFL QBs at that time. Josh Allen's completion percentage is remarkably similar to Trevor Siemien. Those are the facts, fellow fans. I am truly hoping we are lucky enough that one of our divisional rivals are stupid enough to waste a first round pick on him.

Yes, I misspoke. The tape isn't the only thing of value. But the importance that people put on the combine is absurd and what is more on Pro Days (even more absurdly valued). Only a few years ago the combine wasn't even fully attended. The draft process now is a money making machine and less connected to the truth than ever it was. At the end of the day, the process after the last game will recede in value from here. Computer analysis of tapes will increase in value and the only thing that will persist will be the interviews. Agreed though - they aren't the only thing of value.

I'm not terribly concerned with W-L for nearly any QB. It's a team game. I'm concerned about putting what amounts to an immobile QB that is twice concussed and injury prone behind a tragically limited offensive line. On top of that taking Rosen precludes having opportunity to get WR help. The history of the NFL is littered with teams that had no real talent, reaching for a QB savior and leaving the cupboard bare and destroying both the draftee and the franchise. I hope we don't follow.

Improbable on so many levels, but any outcome where Baker Mayfield is available at 12 would be great. Like most of you, Evans over Hughes at 22. Or Vea, or McGlinchey or Williams. But those are gravy.

Nick Foles is going nowhere...
Tyrod's friend replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the start of this process, I believed the Bills should move mountains to get Foles. That was idiocy and I was wrong. QBs in the NFL do not become more accurate. Outside of 2013, Nick Foles completion percentage is barely over 58%. Would you trade the 22nd pick away for Trevor Siemian? Frankly if the Eagles were offered anything higher that a late third round pick they were fools to turn it down. I certainly wouldn't go that high for Trevor, or Brock Osweiler or similarly tragically inaccurate QBs. Those are the true comps for Nick, 2013 and the Super Bowl be damned. -
Browns Sign QB Drew Stanton to a 2-Year Deal
Tyrod's friend replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Happy to take the action. By far, the best QB in this class and it isn't close Joining a team that will be implementing a system perfect for him will be replacing his physical mirror matches team/state demeanor. If you've never lived in places like Ohio, Texas or Oklahoma, you have no real appreciation for the importance of football awards I think. as to point #1, the quality and quantity of statistics indicate that there are few QBs that have ever played college ball as well as he has. Drafting him will be a master stroke that will not be clear for several years, but suffice to say that it will create a value on the second pick which will make it impossible for the Giants to retain that pick ... thus, effectively, forcing Saquon Barkley all the way to four. But at the end of the day, the combination of leadership skills and NFL talent that he has displayed (not to mention, the aversion to both injuries and turnovers) makes him not only the natural but only choice. #1. Overall. And as usual the rest of the judges and prognosticators have it as wrong as possible.
