Ensminger called 99% of the plays....Joe Brady called "situational red zone" snaps, polished the routes we ran, inserted a whole new language of pedal to the metal NFL terminology which Ensminger immediately adapted; the two completed each other...although the question "could the offense have exploded without Joe Brady?" needs to be addressed. With or without Joe Brady, the 2019 offense was headed in the right direction, dropping 40+ points in the final 3 games, Mickey Joseph, Joe Burrow, Steve Ensminger, the receivers, Thaddeus Moss's return from injury, the emergence of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, James Cregg's offensive line becoming a titanic blockbusting force...all of these elements collided and aligned into the historic juggernaut we (including you Saban) will never forget....Joe Brady became the savvy, smart interior decorator who could show Ensminger and Joseph a thing or two about fashion sensibilities.

I agree. The old 6 format or go to 8 (no byes or byes for top 4 (div winners all get byes). Do not like the 1 team getting a bye. Its a long season the difference between the 1 seed in many cases is just luck in what teams you played, etc.

It goes both ways. If the D played lights out in the long run its Allen won x number of playoff games. I think many of the talking heads look at individual plays. The Allen miss to Shakir will stand out as a "he has to make that play". Never mind that the Chiefs likely march down and win the game anyway.

Bill Belichick called and asked "so wait, I get the best QB in the league, can spend as much money and draft picks on D as I want, can hire any of my buddies, and just making the playoffs is winning? This isn't a joke right?" We hear the same thing every year.

People do realize Brady was at LSU one year right? Note even a full year. With possibly one of the most talented football rosters in college football history. I would not place too much weight on connecting LSU and Brady. Brady was well like and an enthusiastic coach that got his players to play. But that was not his offense at LSU.

If we keep Brady and move to a run heavy offense then I will not have a good outlook for the season. Our best player is our $50M per QB. He will not survive a season rushing 15 times a game. I am not sold on Cook being a 25-30 game back. Whoever back #2 is likely not someone worthy of 10-15 carries a game. Our D may take a step back next year given the changes expected. This team is best suited to throwing the ball and using Allen's legs as needed in big spots.

Our roster with an older Diggs, no Davis, no Harty, no Sherfield...we are only going as far as the WR group. Beane passed on Dhop, passed on OBJ, etc. This is not a year to pass. We need a legit threat as it could even be questionable if Diggs is still a #1.

McD is not good enough to win the way they want to win. He is not going to stop KC (or CIN or whoever) enough to allow a grind it out offense. We need to outscore teams on O. I trust that approach much more than McD outscheming a good team in the playoffs.

Roster dynamics were much different back then. You did not have a qb making up 25% of your cap. Reid has provemn to be better than McD. He would already have multiple super bowls with this Bills roster.

Wrong thread...but this continues to bother me. If we are trying to score (the 2nd down play call undoubtedly shows we wanted to score) with around 2 mins then why run the clock all the way down like they did? All that did was leave only enough time for KC to win the game. We would have been better off moving quicker so that there is possibly enough time for us to have another drive as well.

At least special teams. They should at least do a full OC search. Hire a DC. They need to look long and hard. PHI is making a ton of changes and had a similar year to us.

Any year there a a handful of teams in the could win it conversation. We were one of those teams. Helping matters was Burrow going down and KC struggling on O. So yes we should have been a contender and we were.

Those two drives proved to be the ballgame.

Watching the effort it took our O to score vs the effort KC required is like watching a little kid trying his hardest against his big brother letting him keep it close but not win.

Exactly - Mahomes barely broke a sweat last night. The Chiefs essentially scored on every drove but one. They had 5 total 3rd downs all game. The longest drive was only 10 plays long yet they had 4 drives over 60 yards. They could do whatever they wanted to this D.

We are running a high school offense right now. Your QB is the best athlete so keep the ball in his hands with a ton of runs and short throws like you have no real wr's. I know McD likes this style but I dont think its sustainable. Every drive takes max effort and will wear your team down as the season goes. We need a combo of the short game with the big plays. That is the NFL. Go watch DET, BAL, SF, etc and they do both.

There is no tank for a year to rebuild in 2025. I dont think that is possible. You have to make some difficult decisions this year to get better for next year. Likely moves: White cut, Morse cut, Poyer cut, Harty cut, Hines cut. Some could be restrux or resigned to cheaper deals. These alone are $30M and not hard players to replace. Restrux: Allen, Diggs, Miller alone give you $40M. So just the moves above are $70M in savings. If you need more you can restrux guys like Knox, McG, Milano and some others to get another $10M+. That gives you enough to draft a wr, sign a wr, and add some players to the D. I think they already confirmed the play was called before they knew KC only had 10 on the field. That was the call from the start. Very aggressive call. Giving it to Damar makes it a stupid call. You at least give it to someone like Ty Johnson, Harty or even Isabella.

Truth. Bills win a few of those should win games and we are likely healthier from having a bye in round 1, then would have played HOU this week, and playing winner of KC/BAL game next week.
