  1. I think it’s a good idea. Tonyan is essentially what we hope Knox becomes. Former quarterback, late mover to the position. Tonyan’s break out came in year three and before that his career was pretty much floundering. Knox’s first two years results in essentially all of the stats Tonyan put up in yeah three. So I’d love to get Tonyan, but our version of the same player is on our roster. Rudolph or Ertz are much more complimentary players imo.
  2. I mentioned in the Parlady thread that the real news with the Dolphins signing him was that Haack was available, and that I preferred him to BOjo, and Parlady. Haack is the real deal and I’m glad we grabbed him.
  3. He should be back. He is very efficient, though not very explosive, he doesn’t make any mistakes and creates positive gains in the field position game. If you feel like you want to move on, go watch some video of Leodis McKelvin.
  4. So I’d rather have Matt Haack over both of these guys. So in my mind, that’s the real news here.
  5. He has a cool nickname and he is a tough guy for a fan base recently used to charmin soft linemen. But he is very limited in ability. Nice player to have as depth as a back up, but not sure he is a stating player.
  6. Turner is the best player imo and has the Carolina connection. He is also the youngest. Jackson is up there as well, and has some Bobby Johnson connection. Zeitler is still very good. Apparently he was really good with teaching Will Hernandez, so he was a mentor aspect to his presence.
  7. Unless they sign a guy like Turner/Jackson/Zeitler, Boettger and Ford are our starting guards. Jackson has the Bobby Johnson connection, so that makes the most sense. But I think Ike and Cody are the guys next year.
  8. I mean I don’t have sources or anything, but he really fits what we are trying to do defensively. Big, athletic, end who can get to the quarterback and excelled in a rotational situation in New Orleans. He is versatile, can play anywhere on the d line, twists, and an array of pass rush moves. He’s also very young and fits as an investment in this contention window. There is a relentlessness to his game that just seems like our style of ball. And I agree there were so many places to go with that pick.
  9. I still think they chase Trey Hendrickson, but Autry makes sense. He’s a big end with length.
  10. Good deal. Middle ground to where I thought it would be. Beane and McDermott talked from day 1 about developing and signing their own and and they are keeping that promise. I love what we are building.
  11. Agreed. I could see him sitting around for awhile in free agency like Kenny Stills did last year.
  12. If I signed Reiff I’d stick him at Left guard. That said, while I like the upside of Boettger and Ford, having a Vet like Reiff in there is a nice change up. I never thought he was a very good LT and I don’t think he is a RT either. If you can get him on the cheap, why not?
  13. 4.38 out of the back field is pretty nice
  14. Definitely an interesting guy. He has some blazing speed and makes a ton of sense as the other back here. Personally I’d look for something better, but I think you are on the right track and I could see him as a kick the tires guy.
  15. Reddick will go to Carolina and play for Matt Rhule. That’s my opinion.
  16. 100% this. And Dion Dawkins is a guard and so is Cordy Glenn. Duke Williams should play tight end, and so on and so forth. The rage was that Star was expendable because Horrible Harry was something, and I never saw it. I think Phillips is our worst defensive lineman right now, but he seems to be a message board hero. Now its Edmunds who needs to move etc, and once again we will all be wrong about him because the simple fact is that players develop. And just like Dion did, Edmunds will prove his worth and blow up. I am in the minority here, but I thought Butler played pretty well for what it appears he was asked to do. He was overpaid, but now he’s hopefully in a better pay range. There is still upside there.
  17. I think they draft a corner at the back end of the first
  18. The weird thing is that we do have the personnel for it, just don’t do it.
  19. Spotrac has his market value at 13.8 per year. Its what people have talked about here as well. I think he is a 7-8 million per player.
  20. Watch LaVonte David and see why you dont pay Milano 14 million. They are on completely different levels.
  21. This is an original round tender situation. That second round tender would make this guy the 3rd highest paid punter in the league, right above Tress Way. That doesn’t work. Having the right of first refusal is smart, because I don’t think other teams are going to be smashing down the door for any punter. I’ve been a Bojo hater, obviously I’ve been wrong and he has developed nicely, but he should’t be paid elite punter money. Maybe this year we draft Micheal Turk late, he’s already a legend here.
  22. Like QB we have been trying to fill this position for the last twenty years. We finally have an answer, we need to re-sign him. Williams already knows that the grass isn’t always greener. I think the relationship he has with Brandon Beane helps this thing get done. I’m not saying he takes a hometown discount, but I do think their is a fair bit of loyalty there that could help the situation.
  23. If you go original round tender, I think he’s gone. There is too much upside there that I think teams with cap space would sign him up. What’s stopping a team like the Jets from signing a guy like Brandon Scherff and a cheaper guy like Boettger to rebuild their o-line in one offseason? At the second round tender he’s more than likely back. This is what you are supposed to do, draft, sign and develop guys and then re-sign them. Now that he has emerged, it makes no sense to push him away. I thought his technique was really good and that he was one of our better offensive linemen this year. Where I struggle is when people want to move on from this guy at 3 million but want to give 7-8 million to Feliciano. Feliciano is a below average depth guard. He’s not going to get better. Boettger and Ford have upside and I think they are the two starting guards next year, assuming Williams is back. I thought Boettger played very really well at that LG spot and is totally worth that second round tender. I do not think guard is a spot of tremendous need because I think the starters are already here and you just need competent depth.
  24. Honestly, this is the only way to really assess his value. Obviously he is an impact player, but very few teams look for 220lb linebackers. Milano is a good solid player, he isn’t Darius Leonard. So I think he could find a tough market, but may also get a great offer. This offseason guys like Lavonte David and KJ Wright are free agents, and while they are older, they are definitely better players. They will set that market. Maybe Milano winds up replacing those guys. I could see the Jets grabbing him for Saleh’s defense, or maybe the Colts pair him with Leonard. Perhaps he replaces David in Tampa or goes to Miami or NE who would be happy to have him. Maybe Jacksonville wants to pair him with Schobert and Myles Jack. Additionally, I wonder, can we get the same or better production from a guy like DeVondre Campbell who has developed well? Maybe another former safety, Nate Gerry, coming off an injury? Take a flier guys like Duke Riley, Alex Anzalone? Again do these guys totally replace Matt? Not sure. But is there a massive dropoff? I don’t think so. Unless you are paying Lavonte David, Darius Leonard, not sure you can break the bank for a 4-3 OLB. I want Milano back, but I do think him testing out his market is the way to go here. There is no way to tell where that market will actually be.
  25. Yes this 100%. His breakout is coming and I think he will see a Tonyan-like break out. In fact, their stories are very similar. Both high school quarterbacks turned receiver who came out very raw. Knox came from a bigger school but Tonyan was a five year college player. Knox was hurt his senior year of high school, barely played. That led to him walking on at Ole Miss where he only played in 18 games. He’s a total baby deer to the position, not just the scheme. He will get there. Tonyan broke out in year 4, I think Knox breaks out in year 3.
