It's probably posturing, but I have been saying the whole number 1 receiver thing is extremely overblown in today's offenses, especially this scheme which is designed on concepts and spreading the ball around. It would be nice to have a guy like Jefferson or Chase, but you don't have to force the issue for a guy in this draft.

This Austin Booker guy's situation is weird so it's a bit of a red flag. He's at Minnesota for two years redshirts the first, barely plays the second, transfers to Kansas and puts up 8 sacks in 12 games. Now he's coming out as a redshirt sophomore. He only played like 500 snaps in his college career. He's a long, lean athletic edge player with a crazy motor. He is raw in some ways but his rush technique is pretty advanced. I have no idea where he is going to go in the draft but Lance Zeirlein's comp for him is Maxx Crosby. He also did a nice job at the Senior Bowl. I think he is a pretty unique situation with a lot of potential. He could fall or he could be overdrafted.

Thomas is my guy. I like the other guys too, but he just makes the most sense to me.

I remember when the Bears drafted an athletic explosive edge player in Floyd so high in the top 10 and turned him into an offball inside LB in a 3-4…it’s no surprise he had success when other teams put him on the edge. The Bills have done a pretty good job identifying these guys as UDFA the last couple of years with Raheem Blackshear in 2022, and Antonio Williams in 2020. Normally I don't love using draft picks for RBs, but we have so many late-round picks it makes sense to spend a 5 or 6 on one.

I would wait until the 5th or 6th to go down that hole. There are also a good number of vets still out there JK Dobbins, Dalvin Cook, Boston Scott, Zeke Elliot, Kareem Hunt, Cam Akers...dudes who at some point are going to have to take a nothing deal. Cam Akers is the same age as a bunch of these guys in the draft.

What do you think about Braiden McGregor? He made some big plays for Michigan, he is long and athletic and sets the edge. His sack production was so-so, but as a rotational piece, I think he could fit well here. He seems like a guy who has fallen through the cracks a bit. A little under the radar.

To me the two reasons that people were upset is that Leggette and McConkey were gone at 41 and that the board was not great at 58 (which was not affected by the trade down at all.)

I considered him and a WR hard for GB, but need won out there.

With the 60th pick in the TSW mock draft 2024 2.0 the Green Bay Packers select Junior Colson, LB, Michigan LBs this year are very interesting and they are all very different. Colson to me is the best of all worlds. He is strong, experienced, young at 21, he can cover and has some speed. His instincts flash at times and he is very gap-sound. In terms of fit, Green Bay is switching to a 4-3 defense after being a 3-4 for many years. They lack talent at the off-ball linebacker position so this is a pretty huge need. They have Quay Walker. At the other spot Isiahah McDuffie, who played for new DC Jim Halfey at BC has the inside track at starting and they have been talking him up. But Colson is on a whole other level and would free Walker up to do what he does best and run and chase. Coach LaFluer talked about the transition to a 4-3 and said he does not want to get tiny in the transition. He wants big dudes who can run and that's Colson. At 6-2. 238 with long arms, he has a stout and athletic frame. He has some work to do, but there is a very interesting and solid player in there. He is ridiculously tough. Dude breaks his hand in a game and never comes out. They wrap it up and he doesn't even miss a play. He gets X-rays at the half, casts it up, and finishes the game. That's the kind of dude I want as my middle linebacker. He has yet to work out, so no RAS numbers. He is also squeaky clean off the field: I am pretty happy with DeJean, Fautanu, and Colson. Plugged holes and got better. Detroit and @GunnerBill are now on the clock.

I think it is possible, but they just have not shown an affinity for drafting that position high, whereas they have gone after the defense quite a bit.

If Thomas is there I think he is the pick. If he is gone... If Turner, Latu, Verse, Newton, or Murphy are there, I think they would sprint to the podium. Maybe Chop as well. If those guys are gone, and Thomas is gone, I think if Arnold, Mitchell, or DeJean are there he is going to definitely think long and hard about it. I think they would consider all of those guys over the next tier of WRs. But I still think Thomas is the pick regardless of who is there. JMO.

All great points! I think Thomas is in his own tier. Then Mitchell and Worthy. 1: MHJ, Nabers, Odunze 2: Thomas 3: Mitchell, Worthy 4: Leggette, McConkey, Franklin, Coleman - (these feel like back end round 1 early round two) 5: Walker, Polk, Pearsall, Burton, Wilson, Baker etc etc. (late two and beyond) I think if you want Thomas it's probably a trade-up. Then it's whatever your flavor is. I do think Mitchell and Worthy are first-rounders. I don't love Worthy, but there is no way the NFL brain trust is going to let the fastest player ever go in round two. I think we are going to have our pick between tier 3-4.

Virgil said it a couple of times but this was version 2. AD Mitchell won the vote in V1 and in V2 until we took him off the board. So if you like AD Mitchell, it looks like we are in good shape. This was an alternative exercise, and if AD Mitchell is gone or the Bills don't like him, this is how it may actually play out, though they will probably just take Franklin at 28 and would not trade down for the extra third-rounder. I'm in the trade-up for Thomas or just draft Mitchell camp. But if you want a difference-making receiver and you don't like AD Mitchell, I think you have to try to trade up.

I like Paul better just because he is more polished and experienced. Paul also has a brother in the NFL..I just think it is going to be a smooth transition for him especially because of his pass-blocking acumen. The measurables are very similar. I like both as pure LTs...I feel like the BYU kid is a guard.

We actually moved up two picks here. This gives us an idea of what is available at 60. If we wait on a WR it’s like polk, Tez Walker and Roman Wilson left. If up wait for OL, DL whatever, it’s pretty slim. This is a weak draft.

Nubin is the best fit for our defense IMO. After him I actually really like Jaden Hicks. He does all the things we ask our safeties to do and I really like the ball skills and IQ. 2nd round feels too early.

I do like Booker. He is 100% boom or bust but he does one thing well and that is get to the QB. I would take his upside and length over a bunch of the edge guys in this draft.
