  1. Good post. The right caveat to add is most teams don't play three in 12 days on the road, with practices lost to a snowstorm too.
  2. You do realize they didn't do that, right? Trey Lance was the starter and he was lost for year in game 2. Jimmy G. was always meant to be the back-up, or ideally traded for assets before the season started. They have won 40 of 59 games started by Garoppolo.
  3. I believe if a player has control with two feet inbounds, as he leaves the field of play nothing that happens out of bounds should affect that status. It seems strange to me that actions occurring after a player has legally left the field of play and the play is effectively dead impact what happened prior to that when the basic criteria for a catch (historically, at least) has already been fulfilled. To your point in bold, I don't think Poyer lost full possession of the ball. He partially did, but it never hit the ground or even lost contact with his body. I.e. he quickly reacquired full possession a second time. But regardless of that, I don't think it should matter as he met the criteria of a catch previously already before he entered a section of the field where he was no longer a legal participant in the play anyway and the ref blows the whistle at the same time, or even before the bobble occurred. Cases where the player is still inbounds when the ball movement occurs are a trickier subject I think as it relates to continuation to the ground, but even there, it's seems somewhat strange that the ground can "cause" an incomplete catch, whereas it cannot cause a fumble, even in cases where the ball never touches the ground before it is re-acquired under control (ala Hunter Henry last week vs. Minnesota).
  4. Many individual players have finished the year with more than 100 yards per game by themselves. OJ Simpson, Derrick Henry, Eric Dickerson, etc.
  5. I understand the rule. It was correctly applied. Yet, the rule sucks and should be changed in the off-season. Changing the definition of a catch is nothing new in the NFL, they do it all the time.
  6. I believe ST'ers have value but as you say, probably not as much as McD. My point is just that if the sh*t hits the fan roster-wise and they needed to make some moves, if one of those guys was waived I don't think the Bills Super Bowl odds change any. I am not sure about Bernard either but just assumed with his draft position he's not going anywhere, as opposed to Spector being a 7th rounder it's possible that he could make it to the PS.
  7. Using the word "useless" is probably a bit too strong. But I am thinking any of Dodson, Matakevich, and Spector would not be great losses. They all have some value but nothing special.
  8. Or they could sign Love to the active roster and cut one of the useless linebackers who were easily replaced by picking up AJ Klein off the waiver wire, as an upgrade. I don't think we're at huge risk of Mike Love being signed by another team. Always possible, but he's been available around the league for several years now.
  9. Sure, but you can say that with hindsight of how the play turned out. McD has to make the call BEFORE the play occurs. You can see the difference, right?
  10. Agree on the Gabe Davis comment. He's made some fantastic, huge plays this year of course, but has quietly dropped or not contested many balls as well. Totally inconsistent.
  11. Yes Hines is playing, or Yes that was a dumb question? Or both? 😉
  12. Just pulling your leg. I'm glad you had a good trip and got to see a W. Maybe see the Sabres tonight?
  13. Rookies...gotta play the long game on days like that.
  14. The Cooks must be so pissed that Dalvin has been stuck in Minnesota all these years. Seriously though, do you believe anything some random person posts on the interwebs? For crying out loud.
  15. I agree that the design is the most important thing, but it seems like having the field at lower elevation that the ground would mean less wind at velocity hitting the sides of the stadium as the boundary layer effect of fluid dynamics creates slower speeds as you get closer to ground level. Notice today how the flags at the top of the stadium will be out straight with whipping wind while on the field (or ground level outside) it isn't nearly that windy.
  16. Wait...there are invitations to TBD? I never got one either!
  17. A downtown stadium, as I understand it, very likely would have required significant use of eminent domain. Personally, I do not support that sort of draconian government action for a sports stadium. Also, the incremental $600M cannot be hand-waved off as 'worth it'. Where was that money going to come from?
  18. When I was a kid and we played football in the neighborhood, the highest honor that you could bestow upon someone when they made a nice catch was to call it a "Chandler" catch.
  19. I think you are selling it short. I recall plenty of Pass (incomplete)-Run-Pass-Punt sequences as well.
  20. So the rebuttal to an argument about NFL teams hiring the same type of guys is to point to an example of 8 white dudes who were hired as HC's?
  21. Perhaps the OP can change the thread title to "Jake Kumerow High Ankle Sprain and South Buffalo Real Estate Discussion"? I mean, just for clarity and future searches.
