  1. I rarely think the Bills should go after guys needing high draft picks to acquire but this may be an exception. Beane definitely should look hard into this option. Vikings do not have a 5th round pick this year (Bills have 2) so maybe start with the 2nd and 5th in this years draft and get into the conversation. The good thing about this is IF the Bills get him they have him under contract for 12 million a year with 0 dead money too. If Diggs didn't work out long term they could (if needed) move him to another team next year to get some draft capital back. It seems like a low risk move with the chance of a big reward.
  2. Levi Wallace made more than last years 6th and 7th round draft picks. UDFAs pay is pretty much in line with a 7th round pick.
  3. Love this thread..............sometimes you just want to hear the classic tunes.
  4. Long played 16.3% of offensive snaps and 13.0% of special team snaps last year.
  5. LOL. I forget how different things are here in the wild wild west. We vote on all tax increases.
  6. You bring up a good observation. Will the Pegula's show all the options and give their preferred plan OR say this is it (take it or leave it)? If I was still a taxpayer in Erie County I would like to have a say in it but that's just me. There seems to be a lot of options. Refurbish New Era, build another in OP, build downtown, build somewhere else, domed or open. All will have pros and cons but once again your point is interesting!
  7. I posted this in another thread but I should put it here. Just an observation (especially with the stadium cost talks), maybe it's time the the players and owners address chipping in to help fund where they work. 5 million each in concessions from the owners and players per team per year would go a long way in assuring teams could foot a large part of the bill. 32 teams placing 10 million a year into a stadium fund is 320M per year. Adding 1 million (10% of average 10 million cap increase) will quickly bring that number even higher. The league should be funding new stadiums by at least 50% IMO. FWIW

  9. That's currently true. My point was to add a station at the stadium instead of turning them around at Michigan Ave. The Pegula's will be releasing their study soon. It will be interesting to see what they think the options are.
  10. Beane has already said he will let him test FA. We will all know what's up with him in another 6 weeks.
  11. As soon as Phillips signs the tag (which he would break his legs running to do that) it's a done deal. The team then can try to trade up until I believe June.
  12. Tags have to be issued by March 10th. I like Phillips but I don't think he is worth tag value. Not by a long shot. But that's just me.
  13. .....and that should end the talk about that.
  14. The 2019 NFL Exclusive Franchise Tag for a CB is 16 million. The 5th year option will not be significantly lower than that in 2021. How much higher will the tag be in 2 years? Signing White to a long term contract EXTENSION (which means he plays for what he is contracted for this year) makes sense. 2020 cap hit will be larger because some of the signing bonus will start to get paid this year but it will help slightly in future years. If they can sign White to 16.5 per year now DO IT.
  15. I think it's going in the north west part of Conway Park by Chicago and Miami Streets. Pedestrian bridge to link to Riverworks and Parking in the Perry Projects with reconfigured Thruway exchanges to get in and out quick. A stadium station for rapid transit completes the plan. I know the people in Buffalo/Erie County/NY State got a lot to work out but I think Terry and Kim get it done. A "Buffalo Theme" design like you and others have been talking about would be cool. If they can't get this to work they will go with Plan B at New Era.
  16. I agree. Tre seems very level headed too. He's a family man and signing an extension now (if one is offered) will set him and his family up for life. Why take the risk of a few million more down the road. It will be interesting to see how this fleshes out.
  17. Maybe, but I think it's more likely Star will be let go next year. Of course IF Star is performing well in a rotational role he may take another "restructured" pay cut for 2021. One thing for sure is Beane is making it clear that players need to perform even if they are friends with McDermott. I see it as 1.75M is being transferred from Star (who's snap count has been diminished by his play) to someone else. It's a good message to send.
  18. Shaw, the 5th year option for JA is going to be about 25 million for the year. Here are this years numbers. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2019/04/2020-fifth-year-option-decision-tracker
  19. Bates will compete in camp but I don't believe they are banking on him being much more than a utility depth OL player. Of course time will tell. As to the thread subject, I expect they gave Ford stuff to accomplish in the off season and he will start off competing at RT. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess. I do expect Beane to look for a swing tackle in FA to compete with Ford and Ty. As to the draft, if a BPA OT is available when they pick in 3rd or later rounds I can see that too. I'd love Conklin but just don't see that happening. If they did it would definitely put Dawkins out next year because of positional spending.
  20. Yep. This is the first off season where Beane is set up to do what he wants to do, not has to do. He had to get the D set up first because he didn't have a QB. Then he got the QB. Last year was about getting the O going. This is the year and I want to see what he does. You are right about FA and the draft. I don't even look at the draft until FA is well underway.
  21. I would reply to @Reed's83toHOF exactly as you did. What more I am confident that Brandon Beane and his boys have all this projected out through the possible signing of Josh Allen long term contract (lets all hope he deserves one). Personally I believe that Beane is going to look hard at a few big name players. Whether he pulls the trigger will be about the player and his worth more than worrying about cap space. I just think it will be a measured approach and he won't go the LA Rams mode. I totally agree with this. What we don't know yet is what Beane thinks about the available FAs vs what their cost will be and how he evaluates that. It is a BIG off season coming up! I for one am excited about it.
