I think it is his defense, but how it gets executed play to play, I believe he defers to his coordinators. That defense can be executed more aggressively and more physically. Yesterday, it wasn't. McD spoke about "execution" defensively in his presser. I think he was thinking coaching as well as players.

I disagree. McD did learn. Offense was more aggressive. Going for it on 4th down not settling for FGs. Hopefully, he now learns to take more control of how we call our defense. Frazier plays passively. I know McD respects his coaches and coordinators and lets them do their jobs, but our defense is the weak link on this team...particularly the design. McD talks about playing physical. Against speed, that's how you need to play defense. Jam the receivers. Don't let them get off the line cleanly. In week 5, that's what Tre and Siran Neal did. Yes, they both got flagged...but there were no big plays. We missed that last night. So...this is the lesson McD needs to learn this year. As much as I like Frazier, I think if he can't adjust, we need to move on.

This is why I hate coordinators interviewing during playoffs. There has to be distractions.

Phillips didn't play in week 5. Zimmer and Obada played along with Star and Ed Oliver. I think he can be a difference maker this time around. Also, the starting left guard that game was Feliciano. They'll have Jones playing this time so Bates, Morse and Williams will have to be stout.

The main criteria the Texans are using for their coaching search is the answer to the question, "Will you take the job?" If the candidate answers "Yes" he's hired. No viable candidate would ever consider that job. The Texans made it even less attractive by firing Culley after one season.
