Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?
jkeerie replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not concerned in the least after listening to Dunne just now on WGR. He knows nothing more definitive than what others have been reporting all along. McD has apparently not even pointed fingers to anyone in front of the team. That's not a lack of accountability. That is taking the "blame" on your own shoulders as the one in charge and not hanging anyone out to dry. -
Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?

Dunne is not concluding that McD definitively overruled the squib kick. He's saying "whether the word never got to Bass or McD overruled it" the squib was expected. So Dunne knows no more than anyone. This is all conjecture. It sounds to me like McD didn't want to hang anyone out to the court of public opinion other than himself. I totally agree. In fact, listening to Dunne, he knows nothing definitive. It's all conjecture. -

Oh...he said it after reading Dunne's article. So it still comes down to Dunne's take. -

I wouldn't. I don't think you'll find out with certainty anyway. McD simply said "it came down to execution." And then "it starts with me." I'm listening to Dunne on WGR now and Dunne is saying the last 13 seconds came down to McD. -

Who on the morning show said that? I heard the opposite from others on WGR. -

What sources said that??? I heard the opposite and the decision to squib the kick was not communicated to Bass. That's why players looked to the sidelines with their arms raised like they expected something different than a deep kick. -

I don't know what people want from McD. He's taking the highroad. Having been the boss...you do not ever publicly call out your staff. He has taken responsibility without going into specifics because that is what a good CEO does. Those 13 seconds happened on McD's watch. He knows that. Changes are made quietly and behind the scenes. Farwell's contract was not renewed, and he moved on. I think that tells us a lot. I also think Levi Wallace moving on will be a good thing. He gave up the huge completion to Kelce leading to the FG. The season is over. There is no do-over. The team is moving on. The fans need to as well. -
Bengals PK McPherson didn't join team in locker room at SB half time

Yes it is. Totally agree with you. -

It was plain knowledge since they showed him on the sideline watching half time and commented on it during the SB. -
Actually Beane has done well in the 5th round...Matt Milano, Siran Neal, Wyatt Teller, Tommy Doyle. He got Bass in the 6th.

Oh I agree we need a solid punter. I just wouldn't draft one with a midround pick.
-
I would not use a 3rd or 4th round pick on a punter...particularly since the Bills don't punt very often in most games.

People don't sit indoors and watch TV in LA. They attend games, particularly the college games...USC and UCLA especially...in person.

I haven't lost interest, although I was totally uninterested in this Superbowl. Admittedly, I did not want to see the Chiefs, but I could not root for the Bengals because of the cockiness of Burrow. I was largely unimpressed with the game, except for the defense of the Rams, aka Aaron Donald. The man took over that game and willed his team to win. He likely should have been the MVP. I think I grew disenchanted with the Bills because of how the defense flamed out in that Chiefs game. We can only hope that the coaches learned from the error of their ways, but we have to wait until next season to see if they did. Hoping to see some Beane magic to create the cap space we need as well as who he's targeting in the draft.

Our defense always seems to come up short in the playoffs

I do agree with this, but Frazier does seem to revert to being conservative in big games. -
Game wouldn't have been this close if Rams would have had more than one WR. They missed Higbee and when OBJ went down all they had was Kupp.

Brian Flores suing NFL, NY Giants, Dolphins, Broncos.
jkeerie replied to BillsFan4's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems to me that if you awarded the picks to the team doing the hiring of the minority coach/executive, versus the team losing the coach/executive, it actually might work. Part of the problem is that most of the minority coordinators are on the defensive side of the ball. With teams favoring offensive minded head coaches this year (or so it seems with the exception of Eberflus who was ironically hired by a Black GM), the only minority coordinators on that side of the ball were Byron Leftwich (with Brady as QB), Eric Bienimy (with Andy Reid mostly calling that offense) and Eric Studsville (co-coordinator on Miami). I would expect that the teams still looking for head coaches will also mostly favor the offensive side: The Jags to develop Lawrence, the Vikings (since Zimmer was defensive), Saints (with their success with Payton), Dolphins (to develop Tua). The Texans will be lucky to find anyone to take that job. Actually, they would be smart to hire Flores, if he'd take the job. That would be interesting. -

He's done in the NFL anyway. The whole system is a sham. The Giants clearly wanted Daboll because of his proposed skill set in developing QBs. They picked from the Belichick tree in Judge and that didn't pan out. So I think the decision to hire Daboll had little to do with race. The Rooney rule forced them to look at alternative candidates...specifically minorities. It's understandable that Flores was upset at not getting a real interview. He was also handed a raw deal by Miami. In some instances, GMs know who they want to hire. The hot coordinators are always at the top of everyone's lists. Coaches have ideas who they want as coordinators. The Bills selected Dorsey because of continuity with the system. He was no less qualified than the other minority candidates they did interview, but he had the advantage of being already a part of the Bills system. If minorities are being considered only for the sake of the Rooney rule, then it is clearly not doing what it is intended to do. If you look at incumbent coordinators, you see some who are minorities that are being considered, I think legitimately. The majority of coordinators, however, are not minorities. It's a matter of getting hot at the right time. I don't think you can really paint a single broad-brush stroke on this matter. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. -
The fact he played QB at a high level at the collegiate level and was a winner, leads me to believe that this will be very good for Josh's further development...even though it could be argued Josh is fully developed. The mental game is now at the forefront, I think...reading defenses, beating coverages, etc. He and Josh have a great relationship already. So, I absolutely love this move!

I posted my initial impression based on knowing very little about Tee Martin as a coach other than his short time at Baltimore. From what I've read about him he has a much more extensive background than I realized and is a solid candidate.

Bills request to interview Tee Martin for OC Job
jkeerie replied to 17islongenough's topic in The Stadium Wall
They are obligated to interview at least one minority before making a decision on a candidate. This fills that requirement. -
Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)

McGahee was a good back. He just hated being in Buffalo. Better to have flashbacks of Thurman Thomas. -
My deepest sympathies at the loss of your beloved Dad. I know you'll cherish memories and honor his legacy as an avid Bills fan. He's now with many of our parents watching the Bills from the best seats in the house. May he rest in peace and you in comfort.

Thank you! This win by Cincy has nothing to do with the Bills. It was two teams that played an exciting game...and in fact only proves what Josh Allen said that, even if things had played out differently last week, it would guarantee nothing following. I'm happy for the Bengals. If they win the Super Bowl, great for their fans. If they lose, they lose. At least that team is now part of the conversation again after so many years of paper bags on heads. And KC got humbled, especially their fans. No chocolate cake for Andy Reid. He'll drown his sorrows in a cheeseburger instead and start planning for next year like the Bills are. The AFC is going to be fun to watch in years to come!
