If teams didn’t routinely choke and shoot themselves in the foot vs this team, they’d have been nowhere near the 1 seed and I don’t think they get here without that (this year anyway). The Chris Jones/Spags combo just stymies 90% of the quarterbacks in this league. Every game if their game to win if they just don’t make mistakes because of that combo.

We really don’t on offense either. Both lines are quite good. But Allen instead of Hurts is a cheat code of epic proportions, it’s about the only thing that levels the scales.

They have to know our pass rush sucks. Problem is they’ve tried for 8 years to build one and haven’t been able to. Will they change their mentality on what type of player they want, and will they adjust their scheme? That’s the questions.

This pass rush is just lights out. Same way the giants beat Brady 2x.

We sure could use an experienced coordinator on at least one side of the ball.

Hurts gets my vote for most overrated this coming offseason.

I’d have rather picked up “budget Deebo” Cordarelle Patterson any one of the previous offseason he was available. Deebo’s perception of his value and the reality of it have never been in sync.

I mean by that logic half the head coaches and coordinators in the league have no reason to be there. Hyde’s position on the practice squad was basically “coach on the field” with no real expectation of play time. And if he wants to chase a ring, that’s gonna be the only way he could do it at this point. Wouldn’t be a big shocker to me if he went that route.

I think it's less about McDermott's scheme "neutering" a great player, and more that he doesn't scheme up anything particularly impressive. Belichick got 10+ sack seasons out of such vaunted names as Marc Anderson and Tulla Banta-Cain. Maybe it's not fair to compare McD to one of the best defensive minds of all time, but do you really think he hasn't left at least something on the table with the talent he's had to work with? Does Belichick get 10+ sacks out of Rousseau? Does Spags? Rousseau might not ever be a world beater but if its possible for a coordinator in this league to scheme up pressure from Tulla Banta-Cain, it's fair to wonder out loud if McDermott just isn't that great at min/max'ing our pass rush talent. And if we drop someone like Maxx Crosby on this team and the pass rush improves, does McDermott deserve credit for that? Or are you saying there's just nothing these coordinators can do? I'm honestly asking, cuz if that's the case then we should almost never be questioning scheme, we should only be questioning the talent... right?

He took the brunt of the blame for the worst-run organizational years of the franchise but I don’t think many coaches could have gotten more than 7 wins a year out of those rosters. In retrospect he probably got those teams to over achieve. Rip coach .
