This was honestly the first NFL game I watched on TV as a kid. I still remember 3 things my then 7 year old brain took away from that game. 1. Do whatever it takes to stay on the field and help your team. 2. Football is awesome 3. That Winslow guy is God.

And while I know thats correct I still can't help but be a tad leery about QBs that come from there. Its like if you buy a car. And it breaks. Then you buy another of the same manufacturer. And it breaks. You likely would think twice about purchasing a third from that company even though they were different makes and models. Someday a QB from USC will shatter the myth. And if Darnold can correct the turnover issues he's had he may be the one. But same was said for Lienart, Barkely, etc etc.

Is it ridiculous though? Time after time highly touted QBs from USC come out and people say the same thing you just did. And time after time USC QBs flop. Now I fully understand that Sam Darnold is a different player and person than the guys that came before him and I will concede that I think he could be an excellent player in the NFL. But it does at least warrent a "buyer beware" tag.

1. AJ McCarron will start at least the first 6 games. 2. Edmunds will be 2nd in NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. 3. McCoy will fail to break 1000 yards rushing this year due to missing 2 games to injury and late season ineffectiveness. Bonus prediction: Buffalo will go 9-7 with a nice playoff push late in the year.

As soon as the pick was announced Josh Allen became the single most important player on the team. Every decision from that point forward needs to revolve around his development. This applies to when he starts as well. Is Allen the kind of player that can sit and learn well...or is he as a person someone that learns better/faster by being on the field and doing? Is he better off long term watching AJ soak up 1st team reps and watching how he does it...or would he get further faster taking the reps himself and seeing everything firsthand? It's really easy to point to an Aaron Rodgers and say "see sitting works". Or point to a David Carr and say "see thats what happens". Could also point to a Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson and say "this is why it's ok if he starts". I do have confidence that McDermott is going to do what's best for Allen and his long term outlook. He has to, because as Josh Allen goes it's likely his head coaching career goes as well. I'll trust the guy with everything riding on Josh Allen becoming the best he can be.

If Josh Allen becomes a franchise QB Mahomes doesn't matter at all to me.

Not to split hairs, but he really did. He showed well in the Jets game right before getting hurt. After that he wasn't really on the field as much as Thompson was getting more snaps. Knowing what we do now about the shoulder and the knee being "ongoing" I think it's fair to wonder if he wasnt used as much because they knew he was playing hurt and that limited his effectiveness. Either way, starting a career with so many speed bumps rarely bodes well for a guys career. Which is my original point.

Zay's career is following the Karlos Williams trajectory imo. Started with high hopes, then one setback after another. The drops, the shoulder, the Zay for Jesus and now the knee. Not saying he can't turn it around. However thus many setbacks early typically derail a career before it really begins.

I think it will come down to 2 of our AFC East rivals. Fins and Jets. Jets "win" the first pick with a 3-13 record.

True story time. Last year at the commercial break right before the TV station would send thw telecast to the stadium...I chose to take a bathroom break, refill my drink and get a snack. Came back right at kickoff and didn't pay the slightest attention to the stations coverage of the kneeling. Good times.
