But, as this is a football board and we are discouraged from political discourse, I'll simply say: I'm all for the NFL encouraging diversity in its coaching ranks. I am NOT sure that rewarding teams with competitive advantages in roster building is necessarily the way to do it, however.

I'll bite. I think this is a good idea in the context of this week. Given our sudden offensive discovery of a two-headed running attack, and our defense's startling dearth at LB, playing a similar gameplan to last week (but hopefully HITTING on a few of the called play-action shots this time) sounds smart to me. Run the ball, play-action off of it. A balanced, but aggressive, gameplan. Some spread and hurry up when you catch them in a favorable personnel package. Just attack in a variety of ways and don't be afraid to possess the ball and use both running backs. Most of all: limit Wilson's drives. Try to shave off an entire drive or two over the course of the game by playing productive offense. The best defense, after all, is... Sounds old school. But that doesn't mean it sounds ineffective.

Maybe the Seahawks are due for a stinker? Coming across the country for an early game...who knows.

So...to summarize: Don't overpay mediocre quarterbacks (like Tannehill and Goff, except that Tannehill and Goff are playing awesome football and their teams are doing well). Pay elite quarterbacks (like Brady, Rodgers, and Mahomes, obviously). So it's as simple as just having a top-10 pick and hitting on one of the two good QBs each year in the draft, and unless the guy is elite move on after the rookie deal (with that valuable top-10 or top-5 or top-2 pick that every team has when they need a QB).
