Random talking head says something about the Bills
thenorthremembers replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could you imagine today's wideouts having to go across the middle on Ronnie Lott? They'd likely just refuse to run the route. -
Absolutely beautiful woman. The Family Stone is one of my recurring watches. RIP.

Michael Palmer article in SU Paper this morning
thenorthremembers replied to machine gun kelly's topic in The Stadium Wall
He may he getting the most separation on the team but that's saying very little. He still isnt getting the type of separation good to great wideouts get in the NFL. The fact that he is on pace for the exact same season he had last near with another very good QB should tell you a lot about Palmer. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills

If Deion couldn't cover todays wide outs, it would only be a result of pass rush being almost nonexistent. Otherwise, i think the best athlete to ever play corner probably could hold his own. -
I dont think I said he causee fumbles. Watch the All 22 yourself if you want. He insisted on calling plays that were not well suited for our personnel against that defense. The formations and personnel had no consistency once so ever. He was much better in the 2nd half, but he did not put the offense in a good position in the 1st half. Not for nothing the Bills had the ball back exactly one play after the first fumble. If you want to tell me the OC was fantastic in the first half when the team scored 3 points be my guest.

From memory its either him or Philip Rivers. If they dont make it soon I am fully on board with going a different direction at head coach. However, I am also open to the idea that making that move isnt an automatic route to the Super Bowl. Thats what I take issue with. The view of McDermott is so overly myopic on this board, that fans are willing to make the move without acknowledging that McDermott is a good coach. It seems like the opinion is if we switch head coaches, the defense will suddenly not give up 30 point games and we will waltz to the Super Bowl. What they never consider is the fact that it could turn out being worse, and maybe just maybe its not all on McDermott. At the very least give the guy some respect for what he's done here. If the Bills move on from him he will be a head coach in the league the next day. The original question here was if we fire McDermott who are we bringing in. The bright ideas so far have been the Ghost of Bill Belichick and trading a pick for Sean McVay when the Rams have given no indication, they are moving on from him. Oh and John Gruden who is currently suing the league and hasnt had a winning season since 2008.

Dont let the Eagles get to a down and distance that allows the play to be called. Its an effective play. That said, a lot of plays are effective when you need a yard or less.

I've actually done a little bit of that and I agree with you. Some of what I originally wrote in my review of the game I see differently looking at it slowed down and not rushing to post a review. Even going back to our discussion about Cover 2 vs Cover 1 on that one Kincaid route, I see your point, which I believe was around what the look is by definition and what the actual coverage is based on the intent of the play. The second safety was always going to play man on Kincaid, so it really can only be Cover 1. I also fully agree on your point about the thin margins. I still wish he would have stayed in the pocket longer on a few plays but that reaction is likely built in from him having to manifest something. That said, I hope I never watch another second of All 22 from the Patriots game. On to the Falcons and hopefully some help at the WR posittion at some point.

The expectation has become if your Quarterback is good you should win multiple Super Bowls. If you have a good quarterback and you dont win a Super Bowl you suck as a head coach. People on this board would likely tell you Don Shula was a terrible head coach because he never won a championship with Marino. Sometimes even if you have a great quarterback, even if you're a good head coach, you simply are playing at a time where someone is better. The Super Bowl is incredibly hard to win.

I think you just have to look at what they are saying. My opinion alone is that Brady pretty much handcuffed the offense in the first half. In the 2nd half, especially the very late 3rd and multiple instances in the 4th quarter Josh decided not to take what the defense was giving him. This insistence that there has to be an absolute, either you think he was great or you think he was terrible is unfair. Two things can be true. Josh had a decent game, true. By not taking easy throws Josh's game was not as good as it could have been, also true.

The problem with your response is I dont recall ever saying Josh didnt take short or underneath routes all game. If I did thats on me. If I didnt you're being purposely hyperbolic. It wasnt an all game issue, but there were multiple instances in the second half where he didnt. It's not just me and other posters saying it, multiple journalists are saying the same thing. The Samuel point is likely moot because he was already outside of the pocket when Samuel makes his cut, and the situation doesnt call for him to be risky there. That said, you focused on that one point instead of discussing the multiple other points I made to your response.

No. Ideally he would have shown more patience in the pocket and hit the corner to Samuel. Because he decided to bail out right and make that throw infinitely harder, I would have also been ok with him trying for the wheel route to Johnson. Before he trapped himself against the sideline I would have also been ok with him hitting Shakir when he had nothing but green around him, even at one pointing waving his hand in the air. If I knew he was going to bail out I guess I would have been fine with him hitting those underneath routes when his receivers were still running to see if they could make a play up the field. All of that, every single part of it, would have been better than ditching the pocket, running to the sideline, and making the final throw as hard as possible of both him and the guy who has to catch it. But thats just me. Kudos to you though. Rather than having a civil discussion about the play. You responded to my post referencing the wrong play because you dont know what second to last means. When you realized you didnt know, you deleted your response. Came back with no humility posted a picture explicitly not showing Samuel and still were sarcastic. All this after inferring that anyone who has the gull to merely mention that Josh may have missed some throws/reads has down syndrome. Grow up. I understand the situation. Its not a great play call, but if he isnt going to take the corner route I'd rather give his receivers a chance to make a play than to bail out and run to the sideline. Thats all I am saying.

Now go to the SECOND to last play they had on offense during the game. Because the last play they had on offense was with eight seconds left in the game. I didnt say second to last play of offense during the field goal drive. I agree he shouldnt have gone to Cook on the play I was referencing because Cook wasnt even on the field. As for not giving examples I guess the entire thread I posted with specific examples from the All 22 wasnt enough. The play I am talking about is at 2:31 left in the 4th quarter. Every option he has probably comes with some issues, but there are options. Two underneath routes short of the sticks. Johnson with single coverage on a wheel route and Samuel in the front left side of the endzone. The Samuel being open part has been posted all over the internet this week.
