Los Angeles under military attack
thenorthremembers replied to Joe Ferguson forever's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do you have any articles that have actual illegal activity by federal agents? Everything in that tweet, despite being heavy on the empathy inducing hyperbole was perfectly legal. Federal agents make warrantless arrests- Federal agents dont need warrants to make arrests Masked agents take people into custody without identifying themselves- Federal agents do not need to identify themselves when making an arrest Plainclothes agents in at least a dozen cities have arrested migrants who showed up to their court hearings- Federal agents do not have to be in uniform to make an arrest. What were the court hearings for? Were they migrants with an active green card or US citizenship? Or were they here illegally? And across the U.S., people suspected of being in the country illegally are disappearing into the federal detention system without notice to families or lawyers, according to attorneys, witnesses and officials- People in the US illegally can be detained without having their family notified. In Coral Springs, Fla., at least eight agents in tactical gear, shields and rifles surrounded a home with guns raised to arrest a father with no criminal history- Was the "Father" with no criminal history an illegal immigrant? If so, he is a criminal despite not having done further criminal activity. ICE agents drove a phalanx of military vehicles in the Orange County suburb to arrest a person, though not for illegal immigration. They were seeking a resident’s son who had allegedly posted fliers alerting neighbors to the presence of ICE agents- What this article forgot to mention is the fliers contained personal information of federal agents which is a felony. He may not have been an illegal immigrant but he was certainly a criminal. -

I don't mention the protestors with signs and chants because its their right to do so. The second those signs and chants turn into interfering with a government agency doing their job by arresting actual criminals, then I have a problem with it. I cant tell you how comical it is to read you write something like "But reducing an entire movement to a few bad actors (probably bankrolled by the same people who fund groups like the Proud Boys) isn’t just lazy - it’s propaganda. You know it, you just don’t care" when you constantly do the same thing to "MAGA" republicans. And by constantly I don't mean like my few responses a week, but constantly, even in threads where it's just you responding to yourself. Its hard to take anything you write seriously because you're a constant hypocrite. -

Calling me intellectually dishonest and then calling harboring criminals, shooting fireworks at police, throwing bricks at and firebombing cars a "few signs and chants" Your hypocrisy never ends man. -

Its literally no use responding to them anymore. They've lost all rationality or common sense. They have no sense of morality and side with lawlessness. They think chaos is good for their long term viability as a political party. The issue is they are too ignorant to understand they are siding with the loud minority. -

I dont have time to fact check every article you just posted, but I have no doubt each one could have holes poked in it. For instance, the first headline makes it look like the Brazilian was a US Citizen being detained for no reason. It appears from the small write up he was in fact not a US Citizen. The second article's headline makes it look like this poor pregnant woman was shoved for no reason other than ICE is a bunch of out of control nutcases. When in reality she was looking to harbor an illegal and resisting ICE's attempt to apprehend a criminal. Should a pregnant woman ever be shoved, no. Should a pregnant woman harbor criminals, also no. When you put yourself in bad situations, bad things happen. The last article is my favorite because it plays the "brown skin" card. ICE agents don't need warrants to arrest criminals. You can post as many sad empathy inducing headlines as you want, but the bottom line is these people are or are supporting criminals. -

Stop it with the gestapo bs. It's such hyperbolic nonsense, and incredibly disrespectful to a race that went through a genocide. How can you possibly look at the situation going on in LA and say that ICE is the group that no longer respects the confines of the law? How ironic you think the people enforcing the law need to be prosecuted meanwhile you stand on the side of the actual criminals. -

Wrong people who are breaking the law need to go home. Just because the minority of people in this country are the ones throwing the petulant fit, it doesn't mean they get to dictate law. -

This is your exact quote. "The political right in the U.S. often aligns with Christian conservative values promoting policies on issues like abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and education that reflect those beliefs. This can feel exclusionary to people of different faiths or none at all, especially when those religious values influence laws." As such, me pointing out that a majority of religions disagree with liberal ideals discredits your entire argument that people of other faiths feel excluded by conservative politics. Something has to dictate law. Does it not make sense that morality, as seen by a majority of religions, would dictate law rather than a complete lack of morality? What defines right or wrong for non-believing people? And where did that the idea of right and wrong originally come from? I am calling you out of touch because your entire argument was that Chrisitan values are the basis for the political right. Which is what most liberals like to say. You wouldnt dare to call out any other religion because you dont want to seem intolerant, despite the fact that you're actually completely intolerant. It's hypocrisy. The reality is religious values, or just values in general are the things driving the political right. The Bible may be thousands of years old, but morality, the choice between what is right and what is wrong should not change with time. The dissolution of those values is why you see people cheering evil in LA right now. -

It's kind of funny how out of touch with reality you are. This is the point the poster you were responding to was trying to make. First and foremost, at least 60% of Americans consider themselves Christian, whether you believe them that's up to you, but that's how they identify, and we all know how important it is to let people identify themselves right? Secondly, in terms of where conservatives stand on abortion and LGBTQ+ rights, these arent strictly "Christian beliefs." In terms of abortion, especially when it comes to a pregnancy that wont kill the Mother, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jews and people of the Baha'i faith all agree it's wrong. Again, with LGBTQ+ Jew, Muslims, and Christians all believe homosexuality is a sin. The reality is, religions of all kinds setup a moral structure for its believers to live their lives. Anti-Abortion and Anti-homosexuality is not a Christian tenant alone. But liberals try to frame it that way to fit a narrative. Not sure what you meant about education. I assume it just goes back to teaching liberal ideas in school. -

Ive made this same point 100 times here. The problem is the people making those claims don't care about reality. When you tell them college educated people voted for Trump they will just say "alot of idiots go to college." When they call him a racist and you point out a lot of minorities voted for Trump they will just say "They probably regret that now" The real issue is the superiority complex these people have. Make no mistake about it, no matter the reality, they think they are smarter than you. They think they know more about your life than you do. Its hubris. -
Reread my original post. I listened for a very long time up until recently. I have listened but their current content, in my opinion, isnt very good.
-
Cool. Then maybe they should also cover baseball and basketball once and awhile. Those sports come up very rarely, especially in comparison to the amount of golf talk. If they want to limit their audience to people that watch Golf, Soccer, and hockey be my guest, but I am not listening to it. I know people around here like hockey but its a niche sport at best. For Gods sake a recent episode of Monday Night Raw had higher average ratings than the Stanley Cup last year. Its fine if you like it and listen. Its just not my cup of tea. I think the quality of the programming has decreased dramatically.

The article should of been discredited the second Chris Trepasso's name was mentioned.

I am a Buffalo AM Sports Talk listener going back to Empire Sports, but WGR has lost me. The morning show is unlistenable since Howard Simon retired. I tune in for Howard picks the Bills but otherwise its nonsense about golf, soccer, and hockey. Not to mention it seems like they are constantly on commercial. Sal's show is good, Chris and Brownie are ok, hockey talk is dreadful, and Schoop and the Bulldog have been hit or miss their entire career. Lately every time I turn the channel there its either a commercial or Sabers. Sick of hearing about the hosts golf games or fantasy sports. There are way too many options around things I am actually interested in.

And they still were the second most winningest franchise in that timeframe. Makes you wonder how important defensive end really is. Myles Garrett and TJ Watt are hall of fame talents at Defensive End. Would you prefer to be a Browns or Steelers fan? -
It was an absolutely stupid and ignorant response. Had she taken even a few minutes to understand whats going on with the bill she could have given an intelligent answer to the question. Shame on her for not doing that. That said, shame on the media and people on social media for not giving a fair representation of who will be losing Medicaid under the bill.

The only people I see saying Russia in winning the war are Putin and the Moscow Times. They are losing a greater percentage of their military than Ukraine. That said, Putin doesnt care about causalities. He knows he has more money and unlimited access to it. The idea that anyone "wins" a war is a little misleading in the first place. The bottom line is Russia is just waiting for Ukraine's will to bend. The only way this war is ending is if China backs off in its support of Russia.

I've told all my kids they better look into software engineering because every other job will be extinct in a few years. I think thats where humans will draw the line. They want to make work less expensive but they do not want to give up control. Humans are too self centered to allow it.
