I've been wondering this for awhile now, and it was further peaked by Malcolm Jenkins "youre not listening" bit from this week. Are these guys doing work in their communities to reverse the trend of African American Males being 8x more likely to commit homicide or illuminating the upward trend of single family homes in those same communities hovering on or above 66% over the last ten years? Or is their more important platform about police violence which in average is a less impactful, but still an important issue.

SI article predicts a 2-14 record
thenorthremembers replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it has something to do with the combined 4 NFL starts of the three guys vying to start at the most important position on our team. Like it or not the Bills have the most inexperienced group of QBs in the NFL and that doesnt often translate to overwhelming success. There are maybe seven teams in the entire league in a similar situation to the Bills in the respect of their top two guys having limited starts or success, Chicago (14 Starts), Cleveland (43 starts), KC (53 starts), NYJ (73 starts). Otherwise you have a few media darling teams with continued success dependent on guys who may end up being flash in the pans Houston (Watson 6 starts) SF (Jimmy G. 7 Starts). And one team who has a franchise QB who hasnt thrown a football in two years (Indi). It may end up being a good season, but no one should be shocked by the thought it may be bad. -
Does anyone still believe stuff like this? Tom Brady's security blanket is that he is better than everyone else. It isn't Edelman, it wasn't Amendola, Welker, Troy Brown, Randy Moss or Deion Branch. This happens every off season, and it never ends up mattering during the regular season. The only offseason issue that will ever matter is the one where Brady announces he is retiring.

Personally feel like he should have been a 1st Ballot guy on performance alone and was honestly a little put off when he wasnt elected the first two times. But, I am also of the mind that a player's job in the NFL isnt strictly relegated to on the field performance. There are a lot of aspects that go into their jobs beyond what they do on Sunday, including but not limited to preparation, locker room leadership, and yes even being a representative of their team in the media. I think we can all (maybe) agree that TO really wasn't a Hall of Famer in all areas of his "job." That being said that didnt preclude all time great players like Lawrence Taylor and Randy Moss from being elected first ballot. Aside from all of that, probably wouldn't hurt for TO to humble himself a bit and get over the entitlement, bottom line is he is in and I imagine this is the sort of thing that ends up in regret long term.

Given USC QB's & Bills/USC History @ QB ...

I gotta admit, and maybe it's just the #14 but whenever I watched Darnold all I could see was Fitz. -
Not arguing that, over a 16 game season I think its fair to put him in the conversation with guys like Mike Evans and A.J. Green. But he has played 16 games once in five years that being 2012. When you talk about player value I think it's neglectful not to mention availability. Gordon has all the potential in the world but much like Sammy Watkins (for different reasons) it continues to be unrealized potential. If I am using a 2nd round pick I want a guy who reaches his potential by the time he is 26 years old. The Browns have won nothing because of him, got 3 seasons out of him in five years, and will most likely need to pony up a great deal of money for him if they want to keep him past this year. To me, it wasnt worth their commitment.

Ranking Drought Coaches
thenorthremembers replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan Marrone Mularkey Jauron Gailey Williams Just one caveat here. Ryan and Marrone were both more successful on the opposite side of the ball than their specialty. Fact is they hired better assistant coaches than the other guys, which may have come down to Ralph's absence from the team at that point. Rex gets a lot of flack, mainly because he is verbose and opens himself up to it, but those teams were competitive and had the best offenses any coach fielded during the drought. His defenses also weren't as bad as people want to portray, but when you say you'll be #1 you better be #1. His lack of discipline led to his downfall but in reality his teams were better than the other coaches listed here. On the other side of the coin Gailey tends to get a bit more credit than he deserves as his teams were lovable losers who were entertaining to watch. -
The NFL is a private organization who grants their employees complete freedom to conform to the rules of their jobs and make a fortune, or be unemployed. Your NBA narrative is an exact replication of every whiny media member who seem to think the world owes everyone something just for being alive. So, to your point, yes the NBA has done an amazing job of making a commercial out of who their players date and what their players wear off the court, but that's pandering to the TMZ generation, which if you could see past your own nose is not a "wider audience range"

Brandi is one of my favorites of all time. Saw her in Buffalo two years ago at Ani Difranco's venue. She sang Amazing Grace unplugged with all the lights off. 500 people singing Amazing Grace in the dark. One of my favorite concert moments of all time.

Chad Kelly in contention to be Broncos backup
thenorthremembers replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kubiak is still incredibly influential in that organization, so I wouldn't say there is much of a difference between Kubiak's guy and Elway's guy. Bottom line is they weren't going to pay six million dollars across their 2nd and 3rd sting quarterbacks. So they chose to keep the 1st round pick who had a couple of years left on his contract, rather than the 7th round pick who is a free agent next year. -
Bleacher Report: Edmunds = Gronk?
thenorthremembers replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only linebacker that comes to mind is Anthony Barr, and even he is a tad slower than Edmunds (4.54 vs. 4.66). -
Is "faith" a requirement under McD?
thenorthremembers replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None of that is relegated to Christians or Conservatives. Everything you mentioned above is a product of humans, not a product of faith. I would also say that the hedonism displayed by those hiding under the guise of loving education and the environment has been just as destructive to society as misguided faith. The Black Panthers fought for racial equality while loving guns and enslaving women. Liberals spouted free love and expanding your mind while trading STDs and developing drug addictions; in some of the most extreme cases robbing banks and blowing up government buildings. But that was heoric because it was clothed in changing the world. Bottom line is people are incredibly flawed and it didnt take being a Christian. You just happen to assign the root cause to things you personally dislike, which is another flaw in humans. -
Pats* to hire taekwando instructor

Didn't the Bills do a very similar thing a few years back? I vaguely remember someone from this discipline coming into training camp to work on hand to hand combat in the hopes it would improve the Defensive Lineman's hand speed and strength. -

Sometime before the 2016 season Bill Polian called the Offensive Line here old and slow, he was absolutely hammered for it. Two years later, Glenn is gone because of injury and rumors he got lazy after his contract. Wood is gone because of injury, Incognito is gone because "his body couldnt take it anymore, Miller cant win a starting job and I doubt anyone here is going to go to bat and say very much positive about Mills. Obviously the Wood injury is a freak type of thing, but I don't think Polian's assessment was that far off back then.
