You gotta trade McCoy now... right?
thenorthremembers replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you can get a pick for him sure. What's a little more dead cap and a little less talent. -
Which is why Belichick's win percentage as a head coach hovered around .450 before Brady. No super bowl wins without him.

Great Quarterbacks make great coaches, and teams. If Allen or Peterman turns out to be great, McDermott will look like a genius. If neither does, then he will be a defensive coordinator sometime between 2021 and 2022.

For some reason I've always wanted to like Sullivan. But his post BN career has shown how crazy self important he is. There was a day when someone hired him fresh out of college and now he would deny someone the same chance? Somehow this guy got it on his head he is F. Scott Fitzgerald and people are privileged to read his writing. Bottom line, when he left someone else took his place. Just like any average Joe. I learned a long time ago, if you constantly find yourself at odds with people, it's probably not them.

Better than the knock off Bills gear Tops sells every year. -
Hope this guy plays well this year because he has the makings of a future captain for this team.

Grading the Pegulas Thus Far

Bills: B Probably a little early. I dont blame them for Whaley as I think they slow played things at first to get a better idea of what they were doing as owners. Record wise the Bills are 33-31 since the Pegula's took over, and made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. Additionally, and this doesnt show on the field per se, but the monetary growth of the Bills over the three years prior to the Pegula's taking over was 5.3 Million a year. Since they have taken over the teams value has grown on average by 33 Million a year. I honestly think they are doing a hell of a job. Sabres: D I honestly should have went C here. The product on the ice has been beyond bad. You cant justify a 34% win percentage, and multiple stops and starts as far as GM and Coaches. However, you have to give them credit for getting the Americans back and growing a pretty great farm system. In addition, the monetary growth rate of the Sabres when the Pegula's took over was pretty much flat. The team wasn't making money. The Pegula's have grown the brand very well, growing the Sabres value an average of 26.7 Million dollars since they acquired the team. -
SI: John Elway is Looking for Himself

General Managers/Presidents who should be fired: Bruce Allen Washington 56-88 Record, 22% Playoff Rate, 0 Superbowls Jason Licht Tampa Bay 22-42 Record, 0% Playoff Rate, 0 Superbowls General Managers who the lazy media created a narrative about because they are a Hall of Fame QB who Cant Draft a Franchise QB: John Elway Denver 72-40 Record, 71% Playoff Rate, 2 Superbowls. If the Broncos have any common sense they will allow Elway to stick around and hire one more coach. The hit rate for Quarterbacks drafted between 2004-2015 is around 11%, so he gets a bit of a pass there in my book. However, his coaching choice this time around was pretty bad. -
Breshad Perriman to visit Bills

Call it what you want, but GMs get judged on drafting, free agents, and winning. And when half the players you draft are off your roster within three years it's a bad look. Whaley wasn't good at drafting, was below average in signing free agents, made one easy trade and the team was 42-54 while he was part of the organization. Maybe he needed a few more Pat DiMarcos on his team and a few less Percy Harvins. Not for nothing, the Bills are paying DiMarco 4,200,000 for 2017 and 2018. Whaley paid Jerome Felton 5,182,441 over a two year period. So if your complaint is about full backs you need to expand your scope of blame. -

Football Reference It's all on the site above. Have to search by team and look at the draft history. I took a look at the sites and determined status of each player from the stated time period. I didn't export to excel or word though. -

50% may be above average over a longer time span but for the Bills to have 50% of the players they drafted over the last three years (not counting 2018) be completely out of the league is a very telling stat for Whaley's time here. Not going to look at every team, but in the AFC alone, in the same time period the Dolphins are at 82%, Jets 86%, and Patriots 63%. That puts the Bills well below the average. -

18 of the 32 teams have a fullback, which means 44% of the teams dont use one. Dimarco played in 63% of the snaps last year, your 1/4 comment totally disregarded his contribution on special teams, which like it or not is part of a football game. Whaley worked for the Bills for six years in that time the team made the playoffs 0 times. He drafted 20 players from 2014-2016, 10 of them no longer play in the NFL. He wasnt a martyr for the bad coaches alone, he was a bad GM. You and I can field a call from Chip Kelly to trade for Lesean McCoy, that was a slam dunk. Bottom line is the Bills made the playoffs one time in 17 years, and that had something to do with whatever McDermott is doing there. I think I'll roll with that for awhile rather than defending Whaley. -

You seem to be looking at this from a very face value perspective. First, the assertion Pat DiMarco contributes ZERO to the team is flat wrong. He played 25% of the offensive snaps last year, including another 38% of the snaps on ST. Beyond that, the FO brings in guys they know can help build a culture and set an expectation for the young guys. If you dont have a mix of those type of guys, you are essentially returning the team to where it was under Whaley. Those teams had boat loads of talent with no real direction. -

Do the Jets and Bills share scouting departments now? Seems like they are in on all the same players. -
He is still a kid so I get it. We've all done stupid things. I know I did, but I had a lot less at stake. Karlos' situation is worse in my mind because he was already on a team, and I think he would have had a chance to fight for the starting job by now if he hadn't of smoked, ate and instagrammed his way out of the league.

I'd drop Kittle. You can usually find viable tight end options on waivers and I don't believe for a second Barber will start over Ronald Jones all season, dont care how atrocious he looked in the preseason.
-
The absolute worst. Loud and ignorant. The amount of NJ residents who attend UB also produces an influx of them to the area. Dont discount the quarterback position. I couldn't stand watching Tyrod anymore but he was a veteran who had seen certain scenarios and knew what to do where Peterman and Allen are doing the baptism by fire thing. Tyrod's constant scrambling around in the pocket also made it harder for defenders. The loss of Wood and Incognito are big, the schedule is brutal, and I don't expect as many turnovers from the defense. Maybe they win 6-9 games again but I don't think someone is stupid for noticing the lack of talent on the roster.

The Punter Situation/New Punter
thenorthremembers replied to BillsFan692's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schmidt's issue was the team being able to save 1.25 million dollars by cutting him. He was in a contract year and they knew they werent going to extend him beyond this year. As such, they may as well look for someone younger and cheaper to try and develop.
