Well that Seals it Josh Allen # 1 over all
NewEraBills replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm thinking he'll be the pick too. He has tremendous talent to wow, but just enough question marks for many teams at the top to be a bit cautious. I could see him falling past the Colts at 6 and then teams begin trying to make that next set of trades with the Bucs and other teams from 7-11. -

And I agree with you but we should be used to seeing guys like him going well beyond what their tape shows by now. -

Here's the thing. I'm not saying he's a great prospect to be taking in the top 5. I just think the desperation for QB's by Cleveland NYJ Buff Arizona Miami Possibly Denver Possibly NYG LA Chargers - life after Rivers Steelers - Life after Ben Saints - Life after Brees You have teams trying to set up for the future and some teams just needing a QB really bad. They are going to overdraft. If you have not seen this pattern in the draft when it comes to QBs I have no idea what to say. QB by far is the most overdrafted position where guys go well beyond what their tape indicates because GMs believe that its the most pivotal position in the game so they will be willing to overreach. With that many teams looking at the QB position there is no way he doesn't get taken in the 1st round. But the supply vs the demand at the top almost solidifies him as a top 10 pick. -

Hey man. I'm trying to get him away from 12. The closer he gets to 12, the more my heart starts beating and my anger starts to boil because I'm afraid we would take him at 12 IF we don't move. -
It doesn't make sense to me either, but it always happens. Someone is going to think they can mold the clay. I don't want that to be us, but someone is going to reach and take him.

I don't think so. I'm an Allen critic and I just think due to demand for QB's outweighing supply he will get overdrafted. He'll go better than his tape says he is. It happens with the QB position. He's going in the top 10 if not top 5. -
Agreed. I think the biggest issue for him is why does he look like a different guy in shorts? DJ mentioned this as well. Allen looks phenomenal in shorts but why is it that when you watch game tape you see some of it but then you just see a lot of stuff that frustrates the hell out of you. That's my biggest fear with Allen. Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde QB.

I'm not concerned about Beane. I'm more concerned about the people he has to persuade lol.

Kinda sucks for us if the Giants don't move off of that #2 pick IMO. Best shot after that is Cleveland at #4. Beyond that we're on the outside looking in.
-
That's what got my attention as the other guys don't have the under center experience that he does. So you think Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen all go top 10? Gary Kubiak from Denver is there
-
I'm kinda warming up to Allen at 12. Not my first choice of a QB but I could accept him at 12 I guess. I'm still kinda scared of him.
-
Watching right now. Allen really needs a footwork coach. The kid can sling it though.
-
I'll be honest, I'm afraid of Allen in the 1st round. Just completely afraid of him. His potential upside does not alleviate that fear. I'll just say it this way. I like his potential upside, but I'm more comfortable taking Mason Rudolph in rd 2 then taking Allen in rd 1 and I'm not very high on Rudolph.

Was breaking the drought worth it?
NewEraBills replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've already spoken on it. Was it worth it? HELL YES!!! -
Palmer is trying to sell his client. I've conceded that if Allen is at 12 we should just take him there. I think of the QB's he's the likely one to get to 12. This is if we cannot trade up any further because teams just don't want to move. Definitely not my first choice.

The Giants are switching to a 34 defense. I highly doubt Lawson would be high on their list. Also, would you rather have Lawson and some picks or Bradley Chubb? If I'm the Giants I prefer the latter, not the former. But if you want me to move you are going to regret it LOL.

Speculation...Hughes to Giants???

If the Giants are switching to a 34 as reported I doubt Lawson would be high on their list. But certainly agree that Chubb IS high on their board. -
I think a better profile for each QB is starting to surface. Let's look at each of them in turn. 1. Rosen - He's ready. Day 1 starter potential. Can make every throw. There are a couple of concerns. Concussions and injury. Not much wiggle in his game to escape rushers. 2. Darnold - maybe not completely ready on day 1 but should be ready by mid-season. Like Rosen, he can make every throw. Has more athleticism than Rosen. But his mediocre senior campaign can be a cause for pause. 3. Allen - Accuracy and just RAW. Allen has some major concerns. His accuracy is a problem. He is spotty at best. He had a good combine and a good 2nd half of the Senior Bowl. His tape shows a guy that is inaccurate. Sure his WRs drop some passes. On the flip side, sometimes he just threw some really bad passes. One of his biggest issues is pass placement. He hasn't developed the discernment to know when to take some heat off passes. When you watch his tape, every throw is a laser beam that looks like he's trying to punish the guy that's catching it. Project and biggest boom/bust of all the QBs. Has an arm to salivate over. Also has decent mobility/athleticism to extend plays. 4. Mayfield - Accurate. Has shown "hot head" behavior. Up until this past season was regarded as a 3rd or 4th round pick. Had a great senior campaign. Thrives in making defenses pay. Has some mobility but also starts to fold when pressure gets to him (see OU vs UGA early 2nd half). Does bounce back. Good leader. This is just the top 4. All have pluses and minuses and I wouldn't be surprised if on most boards they are actually pretty damn close.

I actually think the Giants trading JPP was also a money move. Given that, I'd argue they are not going to take on Hughes. We'll still have to see how this plays out but at this point, I don't see the Giants moving out of 2 unless it at 5 in front of the Colts. Denver owns that pick but they might like Chubb too unless they take a QB. Just a lot of variables and situations to think about right now. Maybe the Giants want to blow this whole thing up and the winning now thing was just smoke, who knows. They are certainly not one play away and stacking picks could be prudent for them. But who knows. -

If anything the Giants trading JPP away says to me they could have a high value on Chubb who can stand up and/or put his hand in the dirt and that #2 is probably not for sale. We'll definitely have to wait and see but it could be the possibility. -
While no one has played a game, reality does indicate that unless a QB has a strong supporting cast he will never win it all. The QB is not the lone wolf Savior. He has to have a strong supporting cast.

Darby has had two bad years in a row. We can say he's a man coverage guy or whatever, but even when Rex had him in man coverage here he got toasted A LOT. Darby IMO is best suited for the slot just like EJ Gaines.

Zay Jones just impacted our draft
NewEraBills replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me it's a 3 way tie. QB, WR, and MLB. All are equally weak.
