McDermott: NFL is a “drop-back league”

Not true of Allen. Allen has more under center experience than all the top guys. He graded out at roughly 32 to 33% of his snaps under center. -
McDermott: NFL is a “drop-back league”

It's a drop back league. This does not preclude that an athletic QB will not be taken. All it says is whoever we get must be able to drop back and make plays from the pocket. If he can make plays with his feet, that's an added bonus. I read it as McD saying words but not saying anything. -
Borderline 1st rounder actually. I like him at Guard since he's only about 6'3. I see him as a really athletic Guard Darius Leonard Malik Jefferson I like both Leonard and Jefferson at the OLB spots. A fancy idea would be to see if Milano can play MLB and have Jefferson and Leonard at the OLB spots. I like Jefferson as the Thomas Davis and Leonard as the Shaq Thompson.

Buffalo Bills tweet about Lamar Jackson.

Nice. But I'm approaching everything at this point as NOTHING until it becomes something. I'm not even looking at it as a smokescreen. It's just nothing at this point. -
Matt Miller's latest Mock makes sense

While I agree he's ready to start, you need the best insurance that the draft and money can buy in an offensive line. Don't want him to get sidelined quickly. -
All I can say from all of my years of watching the draft and watching how some GMs operate is maybe they think they have a good feel on what teams in the top 10 will do and that they think more than one good QB will drop to their spot or close to it. They are closer to inner circles and know what teams will do than mockers and us fans out here. Maybe we don't move out of 12 or not too far from it and actually have one of our highest rated QBs there for us, who knows.

Honestly, one of the best scenarios we can hope for although the disgust of having to deal with the Colts again sucks. If it played out like this I wouldn't have any problem with it. I also agree, as stated this morning in another thread, I don't see the Browns passing up Barkley if he's there. You don't pass up perhaps the best offensive playmaker in the draft just because he plays the HB position. -
Yes and it was turrible. It's toward the end of April this year whereas a few years ago it was mid April. It also sucks that the draft is on the same weekend as Avengers: Infinity War, which I plan to see that Thursday evening and the draft (1st rd) is Thursday evening.

Here's my thing. Again, we are working in hypotheticals, but why would the Browns want the Giants to trade up to 1 and take Darnold if they like Allen more? Why not just take Allen at 1 and be done with it? To me, they only would entice the Giants to trade up at 1 because they covet 2 to 3 players. Given the information that we were given, let's say the Browns covet Allen and either Barkley or Chubb. In either case, they are taking that other guy at 4. They are not trading the pick. We need to face the possibility of a harsh reality, namely, we might get shut out of the top 4 QB sweepstakes. It is unfortunate, but it is possible. I'm hoping for something, anything that lands us a bright signal caller, but at this point, I'm entertaining the possibility that we might get shut out and if we do, what's the next move?

And that's why he's going high. As I just said in another post. This is about infusing your football team with the best talent. In this case that talent just happens to play the HB position. I don't see teams passing on the best talent just because he plays a particular position, especially when that talent makes their team competitive immediately. But hey it is the Browns, although Dorsey is a smart man.

I disagree. I think it depends on the team and what they are trying to do. Zeke, for the Cowboys is a perfect example. I would never say another back cannot succeed in Dallas. So let's get that out of the way and not present me as going to that extreme. But what I would say is that there is a dimension that Zeke brings to the Cowboys offense that many other backs do not. Secondly, this isn't always about the position a player plays, it's also about infusing your football team with the best talent and if that guy just happens to be a HB you don't pass on the best talent just because he's a HB. This is exactly the reason why Josh Allen is rated high. GM's have him rated high because they like his talent. He just happens to be a QB. I wouldn't care what position the guy plays, if the guy is arguably the best talent in the draft and my team needs that type of player to become competitive immediately, why wouldn't I take him? This is another reason why I don't see the Browns passing on Barkley. Sure you guys are right, you can find a RB anywhere. But you can't find the best talent anywhere. This, IMO, is precisely the reason Gurley went at 10, Zeke went in the top 5, and Barkley will go in the top 5.

Again, I can see it for a couple of reasons. 1) Even if you take Barkley at 4, you still have ammo to move around the board, even back into the latter half of the 1st to take a player like McGlinchy from ND. 2) The Best way for their offense to be competitive right now is to be able to run the football A LOT. With Barkley and Hyde you have a 1/2 punch to keep defenses off balance.

Abstractly they are not and production wise they haven't shown it. As of what we know, no commentator, scout, scouting service or coaches believes that it is even close. I get it, as Bills fans we want the pick. We are desperate for it. But just because we want it and are desperate for it doesn't mean a GM thinks its a good deal for himself and his team.
-
None of those HB's are Barkley and they have two MLB's on the roster right now that they like. I just think the value would be tremendous for them. You take Allen at 2 and Barkley at 4. You're not going to beat that. IF you want you can package other picks that you have and move around, even back into the first. They still have enough ammo to do that.

Would be interesting. The Browns dangle the Darnold "fruit" LOL (doesn't sound right), so that the Giants trade to 1 for him. Then the Browns take Allen at 2 and Barkely at 4. Ideally, the Browns maybe trying to land a QB and Barkley. This is all hypothetical of course but let's say they know the Giants like Darnold and Barkley. So if they take Darnold at 1 then the Giants take Barkley at 2. But they want to walk away with a generational talent at HB and a future signal caller and are willing to swap picks with the Giants to do it.
