  1. I like the QB and LB selection and the WR selection. CB is definitely something we need to look at, but I'm not sure I can get behind a draft where we do not take at least one hogmollie. Maybe they shuffle the line with the guys we brought in, but I would feel more comfortable if we get a different RT prospect. I can see Groy at C and a competition at G between Miller, Bodine, Ducasse. Bodine still of course would be the backup C too. But I have to believe that if this rookie QB is going to have any chance at survival they have to address the revolving door at RT. IT has been a huge problem. And McD and Beane should be familiar with that problem as they watched Cam get destroyed in the SB by Von Miller. At least Cam could move. If you have Rosen in there under these circumstances, his season is gonna be short.
  2. Another thing I look at with the Giants is they just took Webb in the 3rd round last year. I think it would be fair to see what you have in him before pulling the plug. I just look at Chubb and or Barkley and I see their offense or defense instantly better. And as a GM that's all you can ask for. How do we get instantly better? Barkley will do that for their offense. Chubb will do that for their defense. I don't think there is anyone in the teens that brings that type of instant contribution to their team. If Darnold is there I certainly think they'll take him, but if he's not I think Gettleman will keep it simple and just make the pick.
  3. To me, this is one of the reasons they don't trade down. They are switching to a 34. You run to the podium with Chubb's name on the card. He's the best pass rusher in the draft and a top 3 player in the draft, and coupling him with Vernon gives them the ideal pass rush threats in a 3-4 personnel front. Who would they get later that even comes close? Nobody. The other way I look at the Giants is by asking what's going to be the quickest way for them to compete with Manning at the helm? They will need to be able to run the football, which they haven't done well in at least the last three seasons. Imagine that, a franchise QB who can't get anywhere because they have a lousy rushing attack and a mediocre offensive line. So you take Barkley and then pick up a lineman in round 2. Whether you take Barkley at 2, or you leverage the Jets for an extra pick and take him at 3 you take him. If Barkley is an Elliot type back you don't pass that up, given your situation. People can say QB rah rah, Dak Prescott yada yada, but if people couldn't tell the difference in the Cowboys offense this year without Zeke, then they are just are choosing to ignore it. And if Barkley can bring that type of talent and offensive threat to the Giants it would be asinine to pass on it. Given what I've seen of Gettleman, he likes trench players and backs. Given his situation with the Giants, that's exactly what they need barring that one pass rusher. If I'm them I take Chubb or Barkley no hesitation. This is only complicated if people make it that way. I'm all for the "keep it simple dummy" slogan. The biggest reason I would do this if I'm Gettleman is that my first thought is what do I need to win this division? I could care less that my former buddy has a team full of fans that want me to trade #2 away just because we are friends and they are desperate for a QB. That's not my situation. He's a great guy and friend, he'll figure something out. I have to think about how to win this division. One of the quickest ways to get back on track is pass rush and running game and there is no one remotely close to Chubb or Barkley at their respective positions in this draft. Why would Gettleman take a deal from anyone that's going to move him so far away from these players? It could happen, I just don't see it.
  4. Actually, we are for the #2 pick. They'll take Barkley or Chubb.
  5. The thing to like about Herndon is his size. A little over 6'0 and he does have decent speed. The guy that is going to really be a good one though is JoeJuan Williams. Mason has recruited a lot of corners with size and long arms. Herndon was a Franklin recruit I believe, but since then most of the corners that Mason recruited have been at least 6'0 plus. Williams is 6'3 and unless someone just runs past him, it's tough to complete a pass on him because of his wing span. I'd take Herndon in round 3 or 4. Would be a very solid pick for us even with some of his flaws. I'd say based on my eye, his biggest issue wasn't sticking with WRs. His biggest issue was getting his head turned to defend the football at times. He has not been a big interception guy.
  6. Being a Vandy alum, I've watch Herndon the last few years in person. He has been a mixed bag. Some games he's been great, others he well, not horrible but mehh. I wouldn't mind him on the Bills at all. HE's played a lot of football the last few years, has long arms and could excel in a scheme like ours.
  7. There is a high probability that at least 5 come off the board. Cleveland NYG NYJ Den Then someone will trade down (Buffalo) because they see them flying off the board. That's 5 right there. I'm not saying they should come off the board but teams are desperate for QBs. When you factor in the demand for QBs and the supply for a great one they are going to go a lot earlier than they should.
  8. I honestly don't believe that to be honest. That might just be pressure on the Browns to take him so they can get Barkley. In either case the Giants are getting the player they want. They are getting Darnold, Barkley or Chubb. This is why I don't think the #2 pick is even available.
  9. I thought about this but I just don't see it given next year's class. The Donkey's could go with Keenum this year and the following year but then they probably will not be in this position to snag a "franchise" type guy. They could draft that guy this year and let him sit behind Keenum and be ready to take over when Keenum is done, which could be next year or the year after. This QB class is like a "last chance" until who knows when for a lot of teams.
  10. Well the sad part is he was leading the team in sacks until he got injured LOL.
  11. He was hurt most of last year though.
  12. If Darnold is at 2 the Giants are taking a QB. If not I think they take Chubb or Barkley. Neither of which will be available at 12. That's the problem we are facing right now. The offer to move back to 12 is not attractive for teams who are sitting in the top 5. That's exactly the reason why we lost on the Colts deal. What's more attractive? A team who will overpay to move up 3 spots and still land one of our top guys? or a team who will overpay and require us to move back and miss out on our top guy. This is exactly why we lost the deal. The only thing we could have done about that in hindsight is lose more games. No thanks. We are where we are and unfortunately, we might have gotten shut out of the top 3 QB's. If we have, it sucks, but we'll live and move on.
  13. Let me clarify. If you approach me with an offer for my pick, but I have my eyes set on a guy that I think is #1 or #2 in the entire draft or my plan is to gut my team and start over with a new QB, you can talk to me all day long. You'd be better off talking to a damn rock. So while we can talk, there's probably not going to be much you can say or give me because I want to do, what I want to do. So the pick being for sale is a mere facade. It really isn't.
  14. 2 might not even be for sale. Sure it's a target but it might not be for sale. Face it, we might get screwed out of Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield. We just might get the door slammed in our face no matter what we are offering. The pick has to be for sale. That's only if those picks are up for sale. I don't think they are and that's why the Jets got 3.
  15. The way this sounds though it tells me they were willing to move out of the top 10 until they didn't have to. It could explain the Press Conference to get out in front of it and Beane's someone disappointing tone as well. I'm hoping we can make another move but I wouldn't be surprised if we get stuck outside of the top 5. Cleveland, IMO at 4 is our only hope. The Giants IMO are just going to take their player at 2. If all of this about us having a deal in place with Indy is true, then I'd trade with Tampa at 7 before picking up doing a deal with the Colts again at 6. They screwed us and what makes it sting so much is it was with another divisional opponent. Sure someone could jump us and offer the Colts a deal and take a QB but I'd say F it. I'm not doing business with these guys again.
  16. I dunno. I'm not sticking up for the guy. I'm just saying Lock could improve his stock to the first round next season just like Mayfield did by going back for another season. They were both considered 3rd/4th rounders at one point. Mayfield improved his standing by returning to school. Let's see if Lock will do the same. That's all.
  17. Mayfield himself said he was thinking about coming out last year but was projected as a 3rd/4th round prospect. So he helped himself by staying in school, raising his draft stock. Lock could do the same OR not. We'll see.
  18. So Cleveland just gives up on Ogbah?
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a way to drive the Giants price down a little.
  20. Why would I want to do that when we had all of them and unfortunately still didn't walk away with one SB win? Look, folks, it takes EVERYTHING and luck to win it all. All of this either-or thinking is foolishness. You have a crowd that thinks the QB is JESUS and can work miracles regardless of what's around him and another crowd that thinks having a battle tank (defense) but no working gun is going to get things done. It takes everything and getting lucky to win. This is not an either/or matter.
  21. I will say this and many of our critiques of other people's mocks are based on it. If you get locked in on a player you are always going to be disappointed because the player you're locked in on most likely will not be the one that we draft. My assessment of this mock. While I would like to have a QB with better college production in the passing game, this mock does address a great deal of areas, even QB. I don't think Jackson will be anywhere near ready to play, just like Allen so that's why I would be thrilled but disappointed in a draft like this. I think we need someone who can possibly play immediately as I'm not sold on McCarron as a full-time starter.
  22. I thought I read he would not be participating at the official Wash State Pro day but rather would participate at the Utah State Pro Day on the 28th?
  23. As far as overall players, I'd put Smith ahead of both QBs. But in any case, we need a QB. It's not like having the worse QB situation doesn't cement the fact that we need to be looking at QB before anything else.
  24. Good point. They won't be in range for Allen but they are certainly going to take a QB at some point. Falk is often talked about in relation to them as a day 2 guy they could target.
