  1. why is there always a couple posters in these threads that have to put off the whole vibe of this stuff being beneath them? the train is never late and there's always 3 or 4 of you. its like clockwork. somebody starts a harmless thread like this and then somebody too cool to care about what the media thinks always has to come in and make sure we know they are too cool to care. a lot of people stay pretty even keeled about it one way or the other. I've linked a couple things in here but I personally take the good and the bad at this time of year pretty lightly
  2. http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/26770190/nfl-coaches-scouts-pick-their-favorite-2019-offseason-moves Jets, Bills go on the offensive After drafting a quarterback in 2018, both the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets surrounded their new QBs with offenses full of replacement parts. But each team worked hard this offseason to surround Josh Allen and Sam Darnold, respectively, with much better supporting casts. "I feel like the Bills' and the Jets' offenses got a lot better," noted one defensive coach. "Both teams were active in free agency -- Buffalo building off of last year and the Jets building with a new coach in Adam Gase." In Buffalo, the new pieces included wideouts John Brown and Cole Beasley, tight end Tyler Kroft and a plethora of offensive linemen led by center Mitch Morse. The Jets, who fired GM Mike Maccagnan on May 15, landed the most notable free agent of the offseason by signing running back Le'Veon Bell to a four-year deal while also adding Jamison Crowder to their receiving corps. "I'm not sold on the Buffalo wide receiver signings yet, but at least they were active to get guys," the above coach added, as each should play a prominent role after Buffalo leaned on a thin group of pass-catchers in 2018. "The Jets in the same kind of way got a bunch of weapons for Gase and spent a lot of money in doing so ... There is a lot of hype around free agency, but I would say I've definitely taken note of those teams doing a lot this offseason." After each team finished in the bottom five in total offense in 2018, there was certainly significant room for growth this offseason. We should see the benefits of the active free agency come September
  3. It really hard not to just keep smiling as you listen to this young man talk about his goals and just feel his energy as he’s being interviewed. I wasnt really upset at the pick when it happened but little annoyed at who we passed on to be there and didn’t know a ton about him..... Just love it now. What a gem in the late 1st.
  4. The crew just said a Tre white interview is coming up today.
  5. to this day I cant believe bell thought it was a smart move to sit out. it was universally known the steelers had a top OL. literally anyone that's ever filled in for bell has basically matched his production. from an aging DeAngelo Williams in the twilight of his career to an upstart conner this year and then the rookie samuels goes off for 130+ rushing in a start after conner went down. how can that help a guys value?
  6. Colts immediately came to mind when I heard the news
  7. the last 2 years have been freakishly major injury free in the preseason and regular season, for the most part..... i'm bracing hard this summer for a big one. I actually just always sorta do and have been pleasantly surprised lately.
  8. @ricko1112 said Hoyer is the 2nd best qb in the afc east Is there a better definition of trolling than that?
  9. And pats fans disregard the 3 int’s thrown in the chiefs game. Guy never even should have been in the Super Bowl. He needs to send dee ford a Christmas card every year from hear on out. That game was gifted to him. All the ford had to do was, ya know..... not line up a line over the line of scrimmage.
  10. all fair points on that last statement there.I agree to be a great d they need to sure up the run d. but you're moving the goal posts. that was not your original point.... your initial argument was about our pass numbers being helped by an awful run d. the run d was average in yds allowed and top ten in YPC. that point holds no water. you referenced those numbers as if they somehow helped that argument. and they didn't.... at all.
  11. 16th in rush yds allowed and that 4.2 you referenced was good enough for 10th best in the league. that's hardly teams running "all over us".... i'm confused as to how somebody would take the time to look up those numbers but then leave out the rankings..... that's a complete lack of context. exactly. not sure where he's getting "ran all over us" must have just watched the 2nd pats game and tuned out the rest.
  12. The group did a piece on who would be the leagues CB1 going into this season with Peterson suspended and kay’s Choice was our very own Tre White maybe somebody a little better with the interwebs or with twitter could load that up soon.
  13. Schrager actually seems to have a nice inside eye on things from what I've seen over the last couple of years on that show and one of the first to pound the table for mahommes heading into last year before the season even started. you need to chill, bruh. its fun piece they do for the show. nobody is saying the dude is guru.
  14. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001030975/article/top-25-nfl-rookies-in-best-position-for-year-1-success "Big" Ed heading the list of rookies in position to succeed immediately here on this NFL.com list. 1) Ed Oliver, DT, Buffalo Bills: The ninth overall pick -- he should not have fallen that far -- is going to help the underrated Bills defense get the respect it deserves. He will wreck shop from the three-technique position, and defensive guru Sean McDermott is the right guy to get the most out of him. He isn't exactly Aaron Donald 2.0, but he might not be too far off.
  15. the projections aren't from the same dude that actually made the article.... the article is actually talking about most instant impact rookies and he just teams it with somebody else projections.
  16. i'd add in the steelers wr's of the last 2 or 3 seasons.... those boys are masters of the area code catches
  17. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2019/insider/story/_/id/26725419/15-rookies-2019-nfl-draft-landed-perfect-teams Ed Oliver, DT, Buffalo Bills (No. 9) Clay's 2019 projections: 39 total tackles and three sacks Oliver is a fit in Buffalo's 40 front, because we will see his upside as an interior disruptor playing in his natural position as a 3-technique tackle. With Oliver's 6-foot-2, 287-pound frame and rare movement skills, I compared him to Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins leading up to the draft. Oliver's first step off the snap is legit, and I love the effort level he shows on film. Line him up at a position that caters to his skill set, and let the former Houston star create chaos in both base and sub-package personnel.
  18. so my wife and I own and operate a small town 24/7 fitness facility. we currently have just under 300 active members. I'm here every weekday from 9am-7pm and so you can imagine the football banter that runs through here on a regular basis..... there has been an unusual amount of praise tossed at me for our beloved bills this offseason from the other NFL fans that frequent this place.... one of them the other day says "I've never seen somebody look quite so confused when somebody compliments their team". lololol…. its made me feel funny all offseason. I don't quite know how to handle it. on the topic of allen…. every single "stiller" fan(and there are a ton here in northwest pa) that comes in here seems to be on board with him. they all say the same thing. reminds them a lot of their guy in Pittsburgh when he was young. hard not to smile about that.
  19. Totally agree with this. Everything you just described reminds me of Big Ben early on in his career. His numbers weren’t eye popping. I actually tend to think he rode a really good defense most of the time that gave him the luxury of being fairly average for about 3 quarters of every game. But from 05 to about 2010 was there a dude in the NFL that I wanted more with the game on the line? Probably not. Just so clutch.
  20. Allen was 5-6 basically running around winging it playing hero ball with no line, wr’s or run game. I think your numbers are reasonable and if the defense even just holds serve, with Allen taking that realistic jump I think 10 wins is very very doable.... 11 or maybe more if Oliver takes the defense to another level. We just saw the bears take this recipe to 12 wins. Put an already solid defense over the top with an elite playmaker and do everything in their power to surround their young developing qb with enough help and talent to supercharge his progression.
  21. I agree on Beasley due to the unique role.... but these 50/50 numbers for brown are absurd to me. we shall see.... best way to look at it, is if he's not starting we had some serious improvement from a couple of guys. I can dig that.
  22. that doesn't mean it makes a ton of sense.... I've seen your numbers. i'll acknowledge them. they shed a very small light on any brown and jones comparison, but the dude was paid to come in and start...… you don't pay a guy 9 mil to just come in and compete with a squad that was AWFUL last year. 50/50 is completely mind blowing to me. no idea how you are seeing that. barring injury i'd say 90/10.... go ahead and have your analysis. to me that 50/50 shows how flawed it is.
  23. do you think brown is starting week 1 or not? people are writing freaking novels on here about the details that have to do with words such as "automatic" or "lock".... again, does anyone honestly think john brown isn't starting week 1? does anyone believe he wasn't expected to be a starter when signed? of course he'll have to compete. I would hope that's ALWAYS the case. that's common sense. will he be starting week 1? yes..... IMO that's common sense as well.
  24. does anyone actually freaking believe john brown isn't starting week 1??? SERIOUSLY..... I feel like its just people arguing for the sake of it. who in gods name doesn't believe he's gonna be starting?
  25. with what I've read he's aggressive as hell and a thumper for his size..... does her challenge bush for that big nickel spot even though he's not necessarily..... big? lol
