Josh Allen vs Lamar Jackson comparison: A Thread
Stank_Nasty replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the chargers were the first and only team to be able to see Jackson twice last year. I think there might be something to that.... maybe not. but I think its worth mentioning. -
16th. and then 10th in ypc…. my point is lets not use the worst game of the year for the run defense as the foundation of an argument. its pretty apparent it was an outlier. why is it that his reference to the 270 yd debacle on the ground has anymore merit than the first game when the d basically shutdown brady for 3.5 quarters with absolutely NO HELP from the offense?.... I guess because it fits the narrative trying to be projected.
-
not with the qb's that were dressed.... I think you may have missed my point. that bills d had brady completely stifled for 3.5 quarters.... there are about 25-30 other qbs in the league that would have won that game for buffalo. lets not pretend that 2nd game against the pats was more than just an exception to the rule.... even with that awful performance they were still an average run d... in fact I may have to go back and look it up but i'm almost certain they were top 10 in yards given up per rush. EDIT: just looked it up. 16th in rush yds allowed and 10th in ypc. so i'm not gonna use one game as how I think they'll fair all year. or even again against the pats.

I get this... I really do. but if we look back at that Monday night game last year, they would have most likely won that game with about 31 other qb's in the nfl not named Anderson or Peterman. that game was 12-6 in favor of the pats with 10 min left in the 4th. it was just a train wreck for the bills offense. the bills d had brady and that offense completely bottled up all game. so with that being said i'm picking a split, with the win being at home in week 4

realistically how many crap weather games a year are in buffalo taking that away? 1? 2?.... and isn't football, at its foundation, supposed to be elite athletes showing skill in the elements/outdoors? also i'm not trying to be a jerk here. your points are reasonable. but maybe prep a bit better for gameday? I go with plenty of layers, feet and hand warmers, fire ring or heaters for tailgating and have never had an issue... one exception being early winter games if its not snowing yet and you are getting rained on. I will concede those games can be a bit miserable. but even a good quality poncho combats that fairly well.

Is having a #1 WR that important or just good to have?
Stank_Nasty replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think you have to have that elite #1. But I do think a player that can consistently make those area code catches helps a TON. A player that comes to my mind from last year would be Kenny golladay. Mid tier #1 guy but holy crap that guy was the king of the area code catch last year. Just can go get about anything. He posterized our own Tre white a couple times last year along with quite a few other amazing catches throughout the season. So maybe an all around elite #1 is more of a luxury than a necessity but I truly believe having a TE or WR that can go get ANYTHING on any given play will help a guy like Allen immensely. -
If they ever do away with that stadium it will be a damned travesty. I went last year and my god that was just the ultimate gameday stadium and vibe. What a place.

nope. dunno how exactly you got that from what I said at all. I literally have said numerous times I love watching the game outdoors and watching from a climate controlled dome feels like my living room. how does that equate to me saying I go for the party? if I'm going to a live football game I want to be out in the weather. that's a huge part of the whole gameday experience for me. I quite literally referred to the game watching experience in the dome not being my cup of tea in my example and somehow you take that as me going for the party? and what the hell does a dome have to do with the party. that can still happen pregame regardless.
-
how on earth did you get that from what I've said. that's not the case in the least.... I feel threatened by the thought of my gameday experience being ruined by having to sit indoors.... in which case there is no way in hell i'm paying more for a worse experience. at least not for the 5 or 6 times a year i'm going now. i'm telling you even if the prices were the same as they are now I wouldn't be inclined to go sit in a dome. price isn't the issue here. hell, I would have no problem paying more for the same dang stadium if it ensured it stays outside.... call me old school I guess? I dunno. watching football in a dome feels really unnatural to me. I was actually really looking forward to my first dome game last year in lucas oil and as I walked into the stadium from a beautiful brisk fall day I realized immediately it pretty much sucked. I guess maybe that's just me.
-
I think you underestimate how many people enjoy an outdoor game. like I said, the whole crew I go up with basically feels the same way. I guess the 20 or so of us are the minority????? i'm telling you they would lose my attendance even if they made the dome and kept the prices the same.... if they raised them? yaaaa, I wont be attending much of anything. the dome experience completely sucked IMO.... heck, my wife thoroughly dislikes the winter games we go to and she even said she preferred the open air in the winter to the game we attended in lucas oil.
-
right. I shoulda prefaced it with that.... but my point at the end of my post is, while I cant speak for the masses, I know a good amount of people I attend games with that feel the same way.

again... the year he came in on an 0-3 team and they finished 10-6, the bills had the 15th ranked defense in points allowed and 6th in yds. meanwhile the offense was top ten in points scored and yds. apparently you missed that the first time I said it.... I get it. it doesn't fit narrative on your end. he was a solid qb in his stint in buffalo. you don't think he was a good guy. whatever. he won way more games than the other guy and led solid offenses. please go look at how those offenses performed before you spout off anymore about how it was just the defense. I already showed you numbers from 98 that cut your argument in half.
-
100% false(for me). I can confidently tell you that if they build a dome I will cut my attendance from the 5 or 6 games I usually go to a year to MAYBE 1 to 2. I feel no desire to drive 90 min from home just to walk into a stadium that has the same climate feel as my living room. After attending a domed game last year, I personally cannot stand the thought of it. Give me the outdoor gameday feel or I’ll most likely just stay home.... While I can’t speak for everyone I know plenty that feel the exact same way. It’s a really simple concept. Just win. There’s nothing that will dictate attendance more than that. Do the packers, Steelers, or pats ever have trouble filling their seats in the cold months? ...That’s a hard “NO”.
-
ya know what, you're right..... but when somebody says he was terrible during his time with buffalo, when that's blatantly false, it tells me they may not be thinking clearly about his actual play because they let their judgement of what kind of person they thought he was cloud things a bit. at the end of the day it comes down to if a dude can perform or not. he did for bit, and that's why he stuck for a couple of years. I think the league figuring out his game had much more to do with his departure than him being a jerk.
-
I think you have solid takes most of the time. but this..... geez. fluties first year he played good ball. its not really even up for debate. all while leading the top ten scoring and yardage offense. I mean the freaking team started 0-3 before they changed to him and finished 10-6.... his 2nd year he was basically figured out but still managed games and was a qb on a team that was in the top half of the league in scoring and yds again.... nothing special, but he had one really nice year and another average one before it was time to go. your huge problems with 2 qb's that came into buffalo for short stints and won more than they lost is just really odd to me. I don't think there is much to be hated about either player. both were limited, did what they could with it, made a playoff run, and then we moved on as they got figured out.... I think your hang up has something to do with them as people, although I don't think I've ever heard any player say anything remotely bad about taylor.... and that's where I couldn't care less. I've never cared about what kind of person any of the bills players are. right. because the game hasn't changed in the last 20 years. good call.
