If the DL lives up to some of its potential and we can stay healthy at LB and Safety, I’m not too worried about Tre at CB2 based on how it’s reported he’s looked at camp. Was probably 50/50 he’d start the season as CB2 anyway, so hopefully Hairston can ramp back up and make a push later. Big opening for Dorian Strong too, who also seems to quietly be having a solid camp. The Deone Walker hype train might have some juice. That guy was a freak two years ago, before a meh past year dealing with the back injury.

Bills First Rnd pick in 2025 draft: Maxwell Hairston - CB - Kentucky
SCBills replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
As pointed out above. They typically know on the spot if it’s a tear. And while you can walk off with a tear, it’s not advisable, and a trainer who just performed a test would typically not prompt you to walk off like the video shows. -
Re: ACL’s, if they did a check on Hairston and let him walk off with help like that, could be wishful thinking.. but they typically know immediately when they check and everything else is basically to confirm the initial diagnosis.

I think I’d be tempted to bring him back. Samuel refuses to show that he can stay healthy. As it stands, Palmer is the only pure outside WR. Coleman will play primarily out there, but ideally you’d like to be able to utilize him as a power slot as well. Shakir is mainly a pure slot. Moore can play inside/outside. Gabe would slide in as another pure outside guy. Question is, would Gabe want to come here and be on the depth chart behind Palmer, Shakir and Coleman, fighting with Moore for snaps. And also, I’m pretty sure this staff wants Samuel to be a thing through hell or high water.

Re: Injuries.. Not sure what to think about our training staff, but our facilities do seem to be elite, based on player reviews and what I’ve heard about them. I think a lot of what we’ve dealt with may be chalked up to the kind of defense we run and the players we bring in. Undersized DT’s with undersized LB’s, playing base Nickel.. In the past, this has put a lot of physical strain on the spine of our defense.. not coincidentally where we’ve broken down late season. On offense, our injuries are Kincaid, Brown and Samuel. A finesse TE, a physical freak RT with a history of back injuries and a player we brought in knowing his biggest issue is staying healthy. Sometimes it’s also just personnel.

Meh.. I’m not really playing that game. Rice got hurt early in the season and they traded for Hopkins. Drop off, sure, but they didn’t lose Rice and then have to replace him with bargain bin guys or depth players. Bills have had pop up injuries and gaping holes created by post trade-deadline injuries.

I think we were without both Rapp and Benford last year. KC typically comes into that game missing a backup DT or something.
-
Fair, but a big reason we never get past KC is our injury list vs theirs.

President Trump's Foreign Policy (2)
SCBills replied to B-Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Starmer looks so weak next to Trump today.. it’s crazy. Who does their forward looking optics? -
Big Senate news for Democrats as Roy Cooper has decided to run for the NC Senate Seat. Move that seat to lean blue. Juxtaposed with Jon Ossoff breathing a sigh of relief as Brian Kemp declined to run for Georgia Senate earlier this year.

I wasn’t implying that Mack Hollins was diminished. That solely was meant for Amari Cooper. But people need to relax on Mack Hollins. Some of the podcast guys are so overly worried about losing him at times. Before we got Amari Cooper and his presence (not really his ability) opened things up.. we were in dire straits trying to throw the ball down the field to Hollins. Josh and Mack found their chemistry after that, but while we may need to replace his blocking in other ways (Hawes, Coleman, Anderson, Gilliam etc), Palmer and Moore are both (on paper) more talented WR’s than Hollins and, most importantly, both give us what JA loves and we didn’t have last year.. separation.
-
If Keon has made a legitimate second year jump, along with presumable upgrades over Hollins/Cooper in Palmer/Moore… There’s really zero weaknesses on this Offense. Elite QB, Elite OL, Upper Tier RB Room along with at least average WR & TE rooms would be lights out. Last year we finished the season with the ghost of Amari Cooper, Mack Hollins, Keon post-injury shell of himself, Shakir and Curtis Samuel finally working his way into the lineup off injury. Plus a pretty serious injury Kincaid played through. Obviously guys will get banged up, but it’s reasonable to expect Keon & Kincaid to both grow and stay healthier, along two seperators in Palmer & Moore that did not exist on this team last year. Cooper on his last legs and Mack Hollins was a big target but he made plays because Allen is a freak and put dots on him.

The more I see and hear about Taylor Rapp, I think he’s a legitimately very good Safety. Gotta stay healthy, but I think he could have a big year if Cole Bishop can remotely lift the floor of what Safety 2 has been next to him.
-
So many here wish we could back in time and draft Ladd McConkey, but most NFL scouts believe Keon’s best usage would be similar to that of… Ladd McConkey. Keon can win outside in certain alignments, and against smaller corners, if I’m Allen and see no Safety shaded his way, I’m throwing that jump ball down the sideline ala against Arizona, every time. But with his big body able to shield defenders and what he showed in the gauntlet, getting him in quick hitters and in space, could truly unlock him. Issue, of course, being Shakir, Kincaid, Knox.. our RB’s also all play in that area. Maybe have Palmer as the primary outside receiver, Shakir is the primary slot, and then Coleman, Samuel and Moore as guys who have position flex.
-
He was.. but is he still? Tre, at least, has reason to believe he could bounce back now a full season removed from serious injury. Douglas had no major injury.. he just fell off.. and was a massive liability for us last year.

Even with a Dome, would we have played those games at home? Players, coaches, tv crews, other team etc all need to be able to get to the stadium. Nevermind the fact the fans may or may not be under travel restrictions. Bigger worry for me is a game like we had years back, red uniforms in a blizzard. Super cool when your team isn’t playing in it.. not so much if we’re in a Super Bowl push, playing for seeding and trying to avoid serious injuries.
-
Buffalo is never hosting a Final Four. Maybe a Sweet 16 or something like that if we went dome .. but it makes sense for Philly, who has the infrastructure to support that, to take a sporting event like that into account. Seems like every other year the Final Four is in a domed football stadium in the South or Lucas Oil in Indy.

Sounds like a lot of people impressed with what they are able to see thus far from TJ Sanders and Deone Walker.
-
Hearing reports about this WR room, combined with the very real fact that Beane purposefully or accidentally put his merit on the line in the Jeremy White exchange has me thinking this WR room is going to be much better than anyone thinks this season. All they need to do is find a handful of WR2 level receivers to go with Shakir and then Allen behind this OL could absolutely cook teams. If they go with the 5 we think, 4 of them are seperators to go with Coleman and the Tight Ends. Feels a bit like the Beasley, Diggs, Davis, Sanders year with the obvious acknowledgement that there is no Diggs level guy.

Sounds like Dewayne Carter had a good Day 1 of Practice and is out there with the 2’s again today. Was never thrilled with the pick to begin with, but he did at Duke what we love with his quick penetration ability on the interior. With all the DL new additions, he’s the forgotten man, but man it would be sweet if he makes a second year jump and with a year of S&C has bulked up enough to hold his own but still maintain his quick twitch penetration skill.
-
I wonder if he’s taking reps next to Ed? Are they prohibited from talking about alignments/scheme explicitly?
-
Whatever this means.. TJ Sanders has all the ability to be what we hoped Ed Oliver would be consistently. And I know he’s undersized for 1T, but he is STOUT against the run… at least in the SEC, while showing monster pass rush ability.
-
Defense has always been good, postseason moments excluded.. perhaps that was the first sign we should have paid attention to that last years defense would struggle. Whether it’s Tre and/or Hairston, if we get solid play opposite Benford, the potential for the effectiveness of our new DL massively increases. Loving what I’m hearing about those two on Day 1 thus far.
