Are the Dolphins obviously better than the Bills?
SCBills replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
What am I missing when people talk about the Dolphins and Jets roster, specifically in comparison to ours? They are talented, yes, but Top 5 (sans QB) rosters in the NFL? We have OL questions, but given the interior of our line, I'd take ours over either of theirs. Bills WR room is better than the Jets room and behind the Dolphins. Bills have one of the best TE rooms in the NFL. RB's... pretty equal across the board unless Hall comes back without missing a beat, in which case I'd give it to the Jets. DL's.. All 3 have top tier Defensive Lines. I'll give the Jets the edge over us in terms of LB and CB, but not the Dolphins (minus Ramsey) and even though they’re older, Hyde and Poyer match up with any Safety duo in the league. -

Yea.. I think this very well may be the last year here for Hyde, Poyer and Morse. Then we have a lot of guys on the last year of their deal / one year deal in Gabe, Floyd, Poona, Daquan, Phillips, Settle, AJE, Rapp, Jackson.. On top of that, I think something has to be done with the contracts of Taron Johnson, Tre White and Dion Dawkins. With White and Dawkins, depending on their play this year, I could see them being off the roster in '24 or being extended. The core is still there going into next year with Josh, Diggs, Knox, Kincaid, Torrence, Cook, Von, Rousseau, Oliver and Milano, but yea .. I foresee an interesting off-season whether we win the Super Bowl or not. Which is why Beane has stockpiled picks and I think we will likely re-sign some guys and have some one year value FA's that come here just like last year. -
Impact of Dobbs and Abortion Laws
SCBills replied to ChiGoose's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I’m really not sure why the GOP can’t just repackage Nikki Haley’s answer on this and neutralize the issue. It’s a states rights debate. South Carolina, Georgia, Florida all have heartbeat bans because the citizens of those states are either in support of/or, at least, ok with it. Cali & NY, the opposite. This was the point of overturning Roe. Now, if you’re pro-life, it’s about winning the debate locally in those blue states. The only issues Dems have going for them are abortion and Trump… and the GOP base is determined to give them both. -

Vivek was clearly the most polarizing person on stage last night. Just watched a Fox & Friends panel where every single person loved him. Flipped to Twitter and anyone non-MAGA thought he was annoying and fake. -

Every candidate is forced to lie and say “the voters are smart” … No, no they are not. -

Agreed .. but GOP will lose every election when they run 1 ad to every 50 DNC ads that are funded by dark money & big banks. -

Well that’s a different question .. and I hope not, but certainly am worried it will play out that way. -

The only MAGA candidate on this stage is Vivek. You just want Mitt Romney clones. -

DeSantis has separated himself in this debate. Christie had some zingers but he’s not a serious candidate. Vivek started strong but he’s gotten progressively more obnoxious ever since the Christie attack. I think that shook him. Haley was strong on abortion, everything else is just establishment rhetoric that doesn’t resonate with the base anymore. Pence has done better than I thought he would, but has the same Haley problem. Tim Scott is a nice guy. DeSantis has had a strong response to every question. Responses that show why he won so many independents and moderate democrats in Florida. Someone in his ear must have told him to stop smiling after he talks and just look down at his papers. -

Vivek is definitely taking the anti-war lane in regards to Ukraine. As much as any candidate possibly can. DeSantis is striking the acceptable mix in American politics. Neocon Haley almost exploded during this discourse. -

Perhaps you haven’t noticed what state has had the biggest influx of residents in recent years.. It’s not due to his stance on Disney. -

DeSantis stopped the weird smiling and he’s killing it now… GREAT answer on the Pence bs. Yea, he did the right thing, enough with it. Move on. -

Vivek faded hard .. Christie might have mortally wounded him, because he’s been off his game since. -

The party is winning every culture war outside abortion. Ironically, it’s because they are - as you say - stuck in 2000 (on the culture war issues) whereas the Dems have entered some Black Mirror era. -

Vivek is really talented .. too bad he’s not actually trying to become President. The content of DeSantis answers are strong .. he just needs to stop trying to smile. Ok.. Christie just hit Vivek with a sledgehammer - definitely laughed at that. -
If tough decisions have to be made, it’s a lot easier to move Milano for a pick and replace him with Williams/Bernard at their natural position than say LT or CB. It’s not ideal, but off-seasons are likely going to have an Edmunds like loss (at least) more often than not moving forward.

I may have issues with how Beane does some things, but managing the cap isn’t one of them. Im sure he’ll figure it out. He’s lined up contracts for a reason and acquired a bunch of draft picks next year, also, for a reason. Could very well be the last go around for Hyde, Poyer and Morse this year. I don’t know that the Bills will want to stand pat on Dawkins and White cap-wise, so it may be a situation where one or both are extended at some point to create cap space next year or potentially also playing their last season here. Those are the five question marks, imo, after the season. Also.. does anyone know what the effects of a Milano trade next year would be on the cap?

Are you a Shakir hater or defender... not sure what your angle is by getting defensive over this. Yes, I think Khalil Shakir could be used in a player swap for for a WR needy team that could have a backup who is an upgrade for what we have at a position of weakness. If we flip him for a pick, recent 5th rounder with one year under his belt.. flashed a bit, but is still an unknown.. 6th/7th round pick. I also think we could flip Day 3 picks for players as well.. but I, personally, would rather player swaps of players in positions we're crowded in than sending away picks.
