RD 3, Pick 74: RB Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic
Mat68 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a Spiller type of carry count he could be very dynamic. I dont think he will be a 25 to 30 carry guy in the NFL. In today's game that isnt needed. 15 to 20 touches in a Tarik Cohen or Alvin Kamara type role makes his selection make alot more sense. -
Devin Singletary excited to feel wanted by Bills.
Mat68 replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a little bit of both. Sure every guy drafted for the most part gives the same cliche responses. Oliver's reaction was more than just cliche responses. Ford's reaction was more aswell. Liked the fit the coaching and seems genuinely excited. Having guys wanting to play for the team vs guys who are happy they are in the league is a step in the right direction. -
Duke Williams-" I Can Play If I Stay Out Of Trouble"
Mat68 replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont see it that way at all. Zay started his first year in the NFL. Williams didn't make the team. Last year Zay was the most consistent Wr on the team from week 1 to 17 with 4 different QBs throwing him the ball. Jones is battling for a starting position, and Williams is battling for the 53rd spot on the team. I dont see 1 thing as a football player, Williams is superior to Jones at. I think Zay suprises many this year and puts up good numbers. I would be more surprised by Williams making the team then Jones becoming a number 1 wr. -
Cowherd plays towards the Bigger markets. His guy Rosen is now in Miami. So he has to make an argument why Miami is better. They might have an argument that Miami has better Wrs but that's it.

Duke Williams-" I Can Play If I Stay Out Of Trouble"
Mat68 replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When things get tough, will he be a different guy? His own admission if he can stay out of trouble. It's easy to blame getting into trouble over not being good enough. This is an interesting story heading into the summer. Can he out physical Dbs in the NFL. Can he seperate vs NFL dbs. Those are the questions that landed him into the CFL. -
At 9 I dont think it was debatable who the best player remaining was. They would be leaving alot to chance to assume Harrison and Jordan Phillps could replace K Willaims production from disruptiveness from the 3 technique position. Oliver should be able to step in and make an impact day 1. His speed to power is rare from the position. By all accounts he is a slam dunk at 9.

Out of Nowhere...I agree with Mel Kiper (take on Allen)
Mat68 replied to Threedollabills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The majority of ESPN caters to New York, Boston, LA, and San Fran/ OAk. Look at the stats, Allen must have sucked. Watch the games, more often then not he was the only positive thing on offense. Mel can hang is his career on calling his shot with Allen. He beat Mcshay and all the others too Allen. He has a vested interest, but by actually caring hes watched more tape of him than anyone on ESPN. -
Shaq Lawson Option decision week. What do you do?
Mat68 replied to Seoulful Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lawson is not a 13 mil a year player. If he has a great year, good for him and you franchise him if you dont get a new deal done. -
What would you have liked to see that didn't show? I saw good acceleration, vision, elusiveness. I was surprised with his willingness to slam it in a hole to take what's there vs bouncing everything outside.

RD 5, Pick 147: LB Vosean Joseph, University of Florida

He adds a few more LBs he is a starter in a year or 2 when Alexander retires. -
I now understand why the Bills passed on DK Metcalf
Mat68 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was high on him they were not. Moving on. Ford was considered a top 30 player by most accounts and obviously theirs. The Oline was a big area of need all offseason. In terms of importance RT is higher then Wr. Buffalo landed 2 of their top players in Oliver and Ford. By then they would have to give up alot to move into position for Metcalf. For all we know he was a fail by the medical staff. -
Cody Ford - Some Observations From the Orange Bowl.....

One of the functionally strongest guys in the draft at tackle. -
What does our defensive line base look like?
Mat68 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact Buffalo rotates their lineman you dont like it? I hate to tell you this, but they rotate the ends too. McDermotts defense thrives with a good 3 technique. Harrison Phillips plays Star position, the other Phillips is the 3 technique. In short yardage and goal line he wont be a negative. Oliver's speed and quickness can stop the play in the backfield. The position Buffalo drafted Oliver to play is ideal for him. It should be a homerun. -
What are some post-draft moves that you hope Buffalo explores?
Mat68 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Barring a crazy trade, I think if Ansah is healthy he would be a solid add. I could also see a vetran outside possession Wr. I think Crabtree is available and could be a solid redzone threat which the offense lacks. -
Him and Oliver will be problems for defenses.

RD 5, Pick 147: LB Vosean Joseph, University of Florida
Mat68 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gotta say, after learning more about these they all seem to be solid picks. You question smallish LBs but played in the SEC, and led a super athletic defense in tackles. This is McDermotts kind of LB. -
RD 6, Pick 181: S Jaquan Johnson, University of Miami
Mat68 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like his odds of making the team. Team captain on a very good defense. Seems like a natural fit behind Hyde and boost ST. -
RD 3, Pick 96: TE Dawson Knox, Ole Miss
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is probably the most curious pick in the draft. Freak athlete for the position. Seems to be a willing blocker which is important. His movement will be nightmare for safties and linebakers to handle. Big questions how are his hands, and can he high point the football. The scout knick media types love the guy. His college production is nowhere to be found. He could be beast time will tell. His name is right out of a football movie. If he is decent the Buffalo fans will turn him into a cult icon. -
RD 7, Pick 228: TE Tommy Sweeney, Boston College
Mat68 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Has a chance to be the blocking TE with some pass catching upside. Fisher is struggle city to make it unless he catches up as a route runner fast. Imo its Kroft, Knox, Croom the Flex TE, Sweeney and Fisher situational blocker. I think Sweeney beats him out. Better athlete, and probably more sure handed. -
Predict the OL for week 1 of reg season
Mat68 replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LT- Dawkins Nyske LG- Spain Teller C- Morse Bodine RG- Long Feliciano RT Waddle Ford That's what I expect the line to look like in the first preseason game. Dawkins will have to beat out Nyske for LT. At the meantime Waddle will push Ford. If Ford struggles and Dawkins plays well Nyske will than move to RT. Teller will have to have a hell of a camp to beat out Spain. Power scheme they are going to favors Spain imo. Morse is the only guarantee. I could see a scenario where any lineman on the roster not named Morse could be starting at RG week one. -
RD 3, Pick 74: RB Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic
Mat68 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I came away from those games wondering if any other back would have gotten more out of the runs. The number 1 Rb drafted had the same 40 time. You watch them play and there is no way you think they are the same speed. He could be a real weapon in the offense this year. -

Glad you took the time and watched it, not just look at the stat sheet. He was the first, second, and third key for the defense. Routinely, made the first guy miss and for most of the game it was behind the LOS.
