2019 NFL Draft Wide Receiver Prospect Primer
Mat68 replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those are my two top wrs as well. Curious to see how Buffalo sees it. Buffalo needs pretty much everything upgraded on offense around Allen. They could go possession guy, speed guys, slot wherever yes please. -
Pass on Metcalf and give me this WR!
Mat68 replied to cttnweary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Compared to who? This is getting ridiculous. Metcalfs 3 cone and shuttle looks poor because none of the top big Wrs participated in either drill. Traditionally large outside wrs dont. You want to talk about injury history as a reason to pass on him at 9 ok I fully understand. To say he it's worth it because his 3 cone? And Shuttle? Its asinine. He literally has similar scores on those tests to Randy Moss. -
Article for those obsessing about Metcalf

When you watch the top guys only 2 wrs consistently get seperation and run away from defenders. That is Marquis Brown and Metcalf. Butler, Harry, and Whiteside are going to have tough transitions to the NFL imo. We see two opposite ways to fix the offense. I'm ok with Zay Jones underneath. I would rather have Jones going into year 3 second year in the offense and second year with Allen. I would go FA heavy on the Oline. Biggest hole, no Quinton Nelson or perennial all pro prospect. I would also add a young slot guy. I like Humphries, living in Fl seen Tampa play a few times over the past few years he always gets open and is sure handed underneath. Adds some value in the return game as well. I would look to find a Te to become the possession guy the offense currently misses. I'm not against drafting multiple wrs and going offense heavy in the draft. I would want to add to the vertical passing in the draft. I like Foster. The idea of putting someone just as dynamic maybe more across from him would cause alot of issues for defenses. And imo throws accelerator on the chances of making a dynamic offense. At 9 if a premier defender is there take them. I think you are going to be looking at the guys just under elite. No real motivation for a team to move up for a trade, take the freakiest guy that helps Allen the most. -

At the time of his injury he had about the same yards and TDs as AJ Brown on half the targets and less catches. I'm not drafting him to put him in the slot and utilize an underneath to intermediate passing attack. I am going to be using him to advance the vertical passing game. That makes the offense dynamic when paired with Allens arm and Foster on the other side. You draft Metcalf at 9 because you dont find deep threats over 6 ft and over 200 pds. The other deep threat in the draft is 5'9 168. -
How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?

Moss produced the same numbers in his agility drills. Large wrs dont do as well in those drills. By the looks of if it his training was concentrated on explosive moves. That's why he did so well in the 40, vertical, and broad jump. In terms of Wr. What I think Buffalo needs most is an elite deep threat to pair with Allen's arm. In Fa you have Jon Brown, Jj Nelson, breshad Perriman, and possibly Desaun Jackson or John Ross. I would not call any of them elite, and Jackson isnt due to his age. In the draft the only other guy besides Metcalf with similar deep threat potential is Brown. For me his size is a concern but I do like him alot. The reason I come back to Metcalf is he is significantly bigger than most of the other guys. The height speed combo is rare, paired with his ability to track the deep ball. I'm not saying he will be the next great Wr, but paired with Allen he could be. -
ASU WR K’Neal Harry is projected as a 2nd rd prospect.
Mat68 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I know for sure. Metcalf is faster, and is more explosive. Watching the 2 play Harry doesnt accelerate in an elite way. Without Harry doing the cone or shuttle I assume Metcalf is comprabale if not better. I think Metcalf has the potential to be an elite deep threat. Wont need to be a target monster and will put up bigger numbers. Foster got deep often this past year. Metcalf is a vastly superior player in that area. From what ive seen Metcalf has the rare ability to acceralte to track a ball deep and late. I see Harry as a slighty bigger zay Jones. Possession wrs take time to develop. I would rather Have Jones entering year 3 than Harry year 1. I think Buffalo realy became intriguing and competitive on offense when they went to a vertical passing attack. For that offense and Allen's strength I want a dynamic Deep threat outside. -

Sorry confused the colligant career to Demerius Thomas. Both from Georgia Tech, and good size. -

No Gtech was a triple option and he literally ran flys and curls. -

Coming out Calvin Johnson could only run fly routes. That seemed to work out ok. Play to your players strengths. It's not like he wont be taught how to run routes better. -

His agility numbers are very similar to Randy Moss and Metcalf has much better explosive numbers, vertical and broad jump. Tall guys dont excel in the shuttle or 3 cone that's why many including Calvin Johnson decline them. People blasting Metcalf and tout Harry when he ran much slower and didn't test his agility to protect his draft status is funny. As an outside Metcalf has prototypical size. His 40 shows when you watch him. He has another gear on deep passes. He routinely has seperation on his intermediate and beyond routes. I want to enhance Allen's biggest gift. His arm. Give him a rare deep threat talent. That opens things up for all the other aspects of the passing game. -
Browns exploring trade offers for Duke Johnson

They have Chubb and they just signed Kareem Hunt. Johnson is likely the odd man out. -

I would be all for it. He is a more athletic James White. A real weapon underneath. Something Buffalo lacks. -
Who is your top mid round targets in rounds 3 and 4?
Mat68 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Homer but I think he could be the best mid rd back. Miles Sanders. Has plenty of tread. Was under utilized last year and was behind Barkley the year before. Smooth and quick player. -
Little talked about option for Bills at 9: Brian Burns
Mat68 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really, only defender I understand at 9 is an elite edge rusher. Allen, Sweat, Burns I would get behind. -
This. Imo some of the other guys are just slight improvements over Zay Jones. In this draft I would look to add the best deep threat in the draft. Its Metcalf or 3 wrs under 200 pds and barely 5-9. Just watch the simulcast 40. Metcalf picks up speed and by 30 has another gear even the elite guys dont. I mean when does it matter if he can run 50 yards faster than anyone? Twice a game when Allen releases some missiles. That 1 trick added to the 20 yard stop go is all the offense needs. Add a Te now intermediate you have Zay, Foster and who ever else with wide open space because Metcalf will run off coverage. Forcing safties to play 20 plus off the line should open running lanes as well.

Top Offensive (skill positions) and Defensive UFAs
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo needs to go oline and defensive front 7 in FA. Imo better value for your money. In the draft you can get better skill players. Imo there is not a Wr worth 5 mil a year let alone 12 to 10 they are projecting. -

Mat68 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they should go FA Oline and draft skill players. There are no real weapons available in FA. I dont see them looking to Bell or trading for Brown. Go where the players are. Buffalo has to spend money. Defensive front 7 and Oline seems to be the most prevalent this year. Sign 2 or 3 O lineman and a d lineman. I would go skill player 1,2,3. Buffalo needs speed and dynamic athletes on offense. -

Mat68 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Metcalf shows separation and elite speed. Harry lacks seperation when watching. Metcalf plays to Allen's strengths. With Jones or McKenzie underneath it fits what they want to do. Before his injury Metcalf had as much yards and more TDs than Brown on almost half the targets. If Buffalo had a different player at Qb I understand the skepticism of a percieved 2 route wr. If Buffalo wants a vertical passing attack that they used the second half of the year Metcalf adds that legit deep threat. A guy Allen could have trouble over throwing and a one on one nightmare down feild. The only other player who showed similar abilities in this draft is Hollywood brown and he is 5-9 165. -
You playing 10 yards off of him or keeping a safety over top? His speed matches his film. He has another gear most dont. Having an elite deep threat paired with Allen makes too much sense.
-
Metcalf showed the speed of wrs 5-9 180. He is 6-3 225. He had the best seperation in college when healthy.
-
If they sign James or a TE draft a TE in rd 2. Fant or Irv Smith have more upside and are more explosive. Modern flex Te.
-
Dont forget the Dumpster fire that was the Bill's offense in all but 1 game Allen didn't start. Improve his weapons and I thinks his stats improve. Last month of the season Allen was a top 5 Fantasy Qb for what it's worth as well. With an undrafted rookie Wr and mid season street FA as his main weapons.
