  1. I really doubt they will. And it's probably the smart move. Always some risk, but he's a little too expensive.
  2. Can't help it. I always think big. Ya gotta. I'm a little drunk, too.
  3. I saw hooks, I saw the comeback. '11 Pats is still tops - like winning a Super Bowl.
  4. This doesn't really relate to the specifics of to op, but I feel like McDermott is the end of a long journey for us, He's not going to be a 3 or 5 year coach. This is our coach for the next 10 -20. He's dedifucated to his craft. Incredibly hard worker. Smart and gets it. He's our Belichick. I'm stoked.
  5. They're not loaded - just exceedingly well coached. Outside of a few top guys, that roster wouldn't be nearly as dominant under a different coaching staff. I'd love to see the alternate universe where Rex and rob coach that team, sans Brady.
  6. I'd say marginally. We beat Oakland last year with competent coaching- that game was over. None of those teams scare me.
  7. Yeah - you did. It's what you do. It's not enough that you're a fan whose team has been blessed with an historic run. You have to come here to make sure hope is kept to a minimum.
  8. Man, do I hope you get banned here like the other board. It's really sad. When this thing finally turns and the bills are on top, the last place you'll find me is on a pats board beating my chest.
  9. Same record last year with inept coaching and Rex trying to save Robs career. We have no idea on depth yet. Many fa's signed, draft next week and guys coming back from injury. This team could be as good as any in the afc outside of the pats. And if McDermott can really coach, we might all be in for a surprise.
  10. Seriously - no one here really needs a pats fan chiming in and perpetuating the myth that the bills just make mistakes while the pats do everything perfectly. The Hogan situation wasn't a win/lose. He did more with Brady than he ever would have done here.
  11. I get it, and I don't think that's necessarily wrong. But I also don't think the Bills were necessarily wrong not to use the 2nd round tender also. He's just not that vital. And let's face it - if they used the 2nd and there was no interest at all, some here would have criticized them for going too far.
  12. It's a good point. I'm basing my pov more on how I view backup rb's in general. It's easier to rank backup wr's. There is more skill in that position. With rb's, there is a top level. And those guys are pretty clear. McCoy is one of those. After that, there just isn't as much differentiation. How many times have we seen a backup come in and run wild for a few games? Most are fast, most are strong. Again - putting a 2nd round tender on a 6 carry guy is kind of silly, and something no one here was calling for until the specter of the mighty pats showed up.
  13. We really need to stop portraying every move they make as genius. They win because the have the greatest coach an qb of all time. You could put those 2 with any roster and they would still be a contender. They could have drafted Maybin and still made the afccg.
  14. I never like early byes, but other than that, not much to complain about. For a team with a new HC, we can still come out of the gates strong. And the pats won't have a chance to break our spirit until late in the season.
  15. Gully also had to start in games last season. I think the more appropriate question relates to how much better he would be than whoever ends up as our #2. I don't think rb's are necessarily a dime a dozen. But I think rb's at his level probably are. All in all, this is way too much hand-wringing over a fairly average back.
  16. Someone who is a top 5 backup? We have had a lot if great backups here over the years. If there is one position that hasn't been a problem area, it's rb. The only reason this is a big issue is because it's the pats. I'd love one of the naysayers on this thread to show me a post when they first tendered MG saying that it should have been a 2nd rounder instead.
  17. MG wasn't worth a top 5 backup rb salary. He's another decent player who many fans overrate - similar to Hogan. And I'm sure we'll see many threads whenever MG has a good game. But this is the business of football, and there is no way that they should have put a 2nd round tender on a 6 carry back.
  18. Coaching has kept this team out of the playoffs the past 2 years. Way too many close games decided by blunders or lack of discipline. We don't know what we have in McDermott, but I love what I've seen so far. If he can turn this talented team into a disciplined, motivated unit that actually shows up to play each week, 10-6 or even 11-5 is possible.
  19. Whaley at least gets 2017. Sully is just going to have to deal with it if we make the playoffs. And we can. McDermott could be our best HC hire in a long time. Last year's draft class might have 3-4 starters this year. The Bills are a talented team heading into this season. Not sure what Sully will do once we start winning games.
  20. Agreed - taking a CB high certainly wouldn't shock me. Can't wait. I love the draft. It feels like the start of the season.
  21. I was going to post something like this - you said it better. I think Darby and Seymour could be a surprisingly great tandem. They also brought in a lot of guys to compete for depth. I'd bet a coach like McDermott can get the best out of a few. Conventional wisdom here is that we have to draft a CB high, but it's really not that urgent.
  22. I agree, though they can afford to make mistakes. They're definitely paying too much for a rb corps that really doesn't have a top guy. Reading their boards, fans there seem to think they got a back who can really be a 3 down player. MG is a bit overrated right now, by them and us.
  23. Line is a much bigger need, and the pickins at guard are much more slim. Love MG, but we overrate him a bit. He can be replaced with a late rounder, and likely without much drop off.
