  1. Hard to complain about this pick. Fills a need, ready to start and sounds like a leader.
  2. I'd be stoked. While it would be nice to have the kind of talent you can get in the 10 spot, it's better for us this year to make a minor sacrifice in quality for quantity. Lots of starters will be available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
  3. Watch him get fired, and then Watkins plays 16 games and has a career year, Ragland, Lawson and Seymour all break out as star players, and we finally get great coaching and make the playoffs.
  4. A lot is made of that and I agree it's a big deal, but it's also true of a lot of gm's. Even great gm's miss on Qb's.
  5. Agreed. This is one of those 'careful what you wish for' things for some fans here. We could get a better gm - but we could get someone much worse. Whaley has a unique ability when it comes to identifying talented players, imo.
  6. Tyrod Taylor is really underrated by this fanbase in general. It's interesting - when I talk to fans of other teams, they hold him in higher regard than many here. I can't wait to see what he can do with real coaching and better receivers.
  7. We'll have to disagree on that one. We finally get Ragland and Lawson for a full season, as well as Watkins. Good depth brought in. Draft coming up. I remember when Moorman was our best player. Whaley has done a more solid job than many seem to think.
  8. He deserves this season, imo. Let's see what this roster he built can do with a capable coach.
  9. Well, his coaching covers for gm mistakes also. I'm convinced that you could put he and Brady with any roster in the nfl at this point. And they'd make a deep playoff run. A bit too much is made of that 11-5, though. That team was undefeated the previous year.
  10. His essential point is spot on. BB's job as a gm is made infinitely easier by the fact that he has the goat QB, who works at a discount. He's able to routinely let star players walk in a way that other teams with average Qb's could never overcome.
  11. Pats fans are saying now that their running attack will be unstoppable. Not sure I see the logic there. They just have more backs than usual.
  12. Exactly this. I won't be surprised at all if they don't draft a rb.
  13. Good at that, yes - but not quite as good when he had to start. Williams may be better on that front. Again, they may know more about Williams right now than we do, and have a higher level of confidence that he can fill in just as well if not better, and at lower cost.
  14. Why do they have to use a draft pick? We're talking about needing a 3rd string guy here.
  15. Debatable. It wasn't exactly a huge discussion when they didn't. They may know more than we do about the potential of Jonathan Williams. Top prospect before his injury, and back to 100% by what we're hearing. And I don't really care that he didn't look good last year - 25 carries is not any kind of measure.
  16. I would hardly say the drafts have been terrible. Last year's in particular might yield 3-4 starters.
  17. We'll find out soon enough. I used to feel the same way about Shula and the fins. Then the '90's happened. Teams can look invincible until they're not.
  18. He has a good eye for talent. The roster right now is really very good. I'm actually pretty surprised at how active we've been this offseason. I thought we wouldn't be able to do much given the cap situation, but they did a good job of clearing space and bringing in players for depth.
  19. I still think Hogan is one of the most overrated players in the league. I watched his big games with the pats. He excelled because he was basically left uncovered a fair amount of the time, or because a defender blew an assignment. He's a decent receiver, but obviously made better by Brady, as Brady has done with a lot of players over the years.
  20. Love the comparison to Zack. He sounds ready to go. I don't think our run game misses a beat.
  21. It's so ridiculous reading the general boards and seeing all of the comments about the Bills being the Pats farm club, and BB outsmarting everyone. Has it occurred to anyone that this might work out for both teams? People should go back and check the scouting on Jonathan Williams. This guy tore it up in college and would have been a high round pick if not for his injury. He didn't get much of a chance last year, but he could easily do as well as MG, if not better.
  22. Did they? I don't remember one thread or article stating that at the time.
  23. A thread about a 2nd string rb. I guess there is a fine line between thinking that losing MG isn't tragic, and unconditionally defending the organization.
