The takes are annoying, like other topics the best bet is to turn if off/don't engage, most of the time you cannot get someone off their take. The thing that has changed is public policy around snow/weather events. Schools call snow days now a day in advance for something that no one would have considered a snow day 20 years ago. Many jobs allow people to flexibly work from home so on weather days its an easy decision.
