That was ticky tack, and should not have been called there. There is holding on offense and defense on most every play, it's subjective and that one was pretty weak.
Usually I roll my eyes at the half time adjustment comments but in the SB you have an extended time to put more work into it. Generally adjustments happen continually not magically at halftime like gets thrown around all the time. That is why guys have tablets and talk with the coaches between drives which can be just as much time as a typical halftime.
Going Into this season the narrative was chiefs were taking a step back mostly because they traded one of their key weapons and resetting the cap to a degree. Yet they win the SB. IMO the perceived need of “more weapons” is not founded for the bills and help is needed in other places. More talent is always better but this staff with JA can win. They need to figure it out.
Does that make Dabol a better coach in your mind? Mike Vrabel Kevin Stefanski, Matt Nagy, Jason Garrett, Ron Rivera, Lovie Smith Dick Jauron have won it too.
None, I am a die hard and no matter what I think about the coaches or players I will be cheering them on every step of the way. I also think they can do this with Frazier which puts me in the minority. Continual growth is needed. Also the Bills have Josh Allen!
Can you provide more context? I know it is easy to look at a draft pick like say Ed Oliver and now say he should have drafted Jeff Simmons. But the analysis that shows he is or is not a good GM needs to be done by comparing against his peers. The Bills have a very large percentage of draft picks since Beane took over on the team and the team is widely regarded as one of the better rosters. I am willing to listen to an argument that says something else but what is it?
I think when it comes to offense they were more balanced and favored less volatility in play design and execution vs trying to be spectacular all the time even when you are.
His contract has a bit of a balloon salary in 2024 but for a trade, his 2023 number is not awful, I wonder if there is a potential trade out there. Definitely not the Bills but someone could trade and commit to 15 million-ish for 2023 and they could waive him after for a 2.7M dead cap hit. Or possibly extend.
I don’t think this is a fair analogy. Home runs is one small simple thing. Playing qb is completely different, the qb is more than anything the position most responsible for team success in any sport. Allen leads the league in air yards and turnovers and at the bottom in RAC. Placement pace and taking the easy options can improve those things. I know it’s not cool to suggest Allen should improve in some areas but I feel that way. I also think he is the greatest thing that has happened to this franchise in a generation. I just think there is something to the thought that Allen tries to do too much too often. He does not need to. Maybe the right personality at coordinator would be able to influence that.
