we are talking decision to pick up 5th year option, not draft decision.
And sometimes GM's will err towards picking it up to justify they selection. Same reason higher draft picks sometimes hang around longer than they should.
I can understand that argument to an extent. Free agents get over paid just because a guy gets paid a year after the 5th year option does not mean it was the right choice. Even so I forgot Allen so beanes 100% is a sample of three. I can see Rousseau getting his picked up too so you have to say beane has a good first round history. Hitting on Josh is reason enough for me. I do think Oliver as 9 overall has not delivered to his draft position. I am hoping for a strong contract year from him.
I am not a Beane hater at all but not sure this is really a good measurement. Beane decides to pick them up or not. A think of beanes picks we are only talking Edmunds and Oliver. Both were somewhat questionable. There is a lot of chatter on getting rid of Oliver’s guaranteed number this year. Edmunds had his detractors also.
so now we have 5 DT's on one year deals....interesting. I will assume 2-3 of them will be back for year after next. Also, 5 is more than they kept last year I think....this will be interesting competition.
I would pump the breaks on Kincaid being number 2 in targets.....I would not say its not possible but it is not likely. Rookie TE's in general dont perform that way and I get he is kind of a slot TE. The favorite for #2 in targets should be Gabe Davis.
