This is falling off the rails quick.
I love draft time, where people's feelings and intuition is King and others feelings and intuition is stupid, unless it's the same thing you want to happen...
Matches up well with our needs. Really hope we can keep most of our picks and bulk up on the lines and at LB. But ill flush all that down the toilet for a QB.
To me the biggest test is this year, a rookie is a rookie and they make stupid mistakes for a variety of reasons. Can he come back and learn to take less risky throws now that he has seen NFL defenses pick you apart on imperfect decisions?
It would be funny if the Jets moved up assuming they would get one of Darnold/Rosen only to have to take Barkley or reach for the next QB that they probably could have got had they stayed at 6.
Ill give up more future value to close the deal, we have so much cap space and time to fill out the lost draft pick depth through free agency or trades.
Everything is on the table on draft day. Most trade ups and downs are directly correlated to how the draft is shaping up vs. individual teams expectations.
Draft pick value doesn't matter when teams fall in love with players. If we had pick number one and had a QB rated as the next Aaron Rodgers, how many of you would trade it for an extra 1,500 draft pick value?
The most concerning stat with Allen is that most of the posters on here don't seem to want him and that wanted % has 0 impact on the front offices decision.
I'm pretty sure if we had 5 Jerry Rice with 2 Kellen Winslow clones as our receiving corps the passing numbers would not have changed that much. Unless they have the skill to make a defense blow the coverage and create 5 yards from a defender, they weren't getting the ball.
So the Bengals have provided us with a Playoff berth, a cheap Move up to #12 and their former backup QB with a little upside still left in him. I love the Bengals!
I trust a front office with a vast array of scouting reports, data and interviews with former coaches and players and ultimately Allen himself to make a better choice than what I feel based on reading 2-3 small scouting reports by people not working for an NFL team and highlight reel videos. You should all too.
