Happy Birthday Jimmy I do think despite all the other RIP threads here people in general are living/gonna live longer

Damn. He might very well be the baseball player who pound for pound got the most out of his natural abilities.

When I was still interested in basketball he was a definite staple of that 90s era. The 1994 Denver series against Seattle with him celebrating lying on the court after Game 5 is an iconic basketball image of that era to me. The 8 seed knocking off the 1 seed. But I recall he played a little bit for all the local teams here at some point: Knicks, Nets, and Sixers. Was a great rebounder and shot blocker from I recall. And a huge muscular dude https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dikembe-mutombo-dies-nba-hall-of-famer-brain-cancer-age-58/

Yeah 2010ish every now and then

Tbh I kind of only knew of him from being referenced in Taxi Driver

Tonight. Uggh

I totally forgot about Desperate Housewives until I saw it as an option on Hulu. Yeah I liked Nicolette Sheridan's Edie. Enough to watch the show just at times for her every Sunday night when it was on.

Who has the tie breaker? Maybe last night was just a bad night? I didn't catch the game but heard the umpire was terrible. On another note I saw last night the White Sox broke the 62 Mets loss record I'm kind of puzzled what exactly it takes to win in the MLB in 2024. Spending money helps but isn't the end all be all. In a way hate to say it but the 1998 Yankees are like what most teams strive to be before the game turned into an analytic freak show..... that team didn't have an all star on it but was very very solid with fundamentals. And ironically Buck laid the foundation for it

Even if the Mets lose out Mendoza has still greatly exceeded my expectations for him from the beginning of the year. That being said it would be nice for him to nudge the team here over the last 5 games. Especially given the history with the devil in Georgia. I was initially overjoyed at the season to get worked up but when you’re this close I say go for it! Heck Buck was manager of the year then fired the next season. So who knows what tomorrow or next year brings. Lets Go Mets!

In high school there was one kid's step mom everyone wanted a piece of. Good looking young woman that drove this fancy sports car quite often around the parking lot. That phrase MILF was around when I was in high school but not as popular as it is today. But yeah anyway a story I heard was someone more or less told this kid he wanted to pork his step mom. Too which this kid replied by threatening to break the other kids legs 😁

That's really terrible. A's even if they've struggled in the last 20 or so years have a strong history as a ball club. Gotta feel for people in Oakland: first the Raiders and now this.

Thats why I answered Kelly Ripa. Suzanne Somers and Katey Segal are great women. Just never looked at them like that. I might find Kelly annoying today but yeah she’s the first one I just used to want to bang more than anything. Lol

Good topic. We talked about this show... liked it and liked her character just was kind of young to see her like that. lol. She always more the cool mom. She's more of a TV personality but yeah Kelly Ripa was prob the 1st person I remember thinking that about. Today I don't find her cute at all nor sort of care for her personality. But if I watch old clips of her yeah I definitely see why I thought that. She was hot. With Sarah Michelle Gellar another cutie

This sounds kinda like you’re dealing with some depression stuff. Been down that road and still are to an extent Hope you feel better

About the only thing the slightest bit envious to me in this man's life was being able to I assume get up close and personal with J Lo's tush. lol Which kind of makes me think if Jenny sort of knew what his whole deal was. I'm leaning toward at least somewhat yes. Her year just keeps getting worse a cancelled tour, divorce, and her P Diddy ties coming to the surface again. I know she was present years back that night of the nightclub shooting.

Pretty much the same as what you described. And is just me or does like every important end of the season game between Atlanta and the Mets always take place in Atlanta not Queens?

Have you ever quit following a sports team?

Hopefully they can finally get past the Yankees -
Always liked him but never did a deep dive on his catalogue until now. Song still holds up perfectly

At least the Braves lost last night Getting older and traveling more I hear that. It's pretty fake of me to call myself a fan but there's teams like the Sabres, Reds, and Pirates where I'm like yeah it'd definitely be cool to see them do well. I would definitely have added the Cleveland sports teams there but the Indians name change was kind of a turn off to me and the Browns going so in on Watson -

I grew up in New Jersey and used to like the Devils in the 90s. It helped they were good then as well. After Martin Brodeur retired I couldn’t tell you player on the team. The Devils didn’t really do anything to turn me off my interest just completely faded over time. It helped as well I used to know a fair amount of fans and went to school with them. Today I lost touch with all those people. Actually ditto the NY Knicks and the Nets once they moved to Brooklyn. -
The Giants really bothered me for the longest time. Can’t forget making this then 7 year old crying his eye out. Hell I even bought a Baltimore Ravens shirt after they beat them in the Super Bowl. I would say this though the 2 Super Bowl wins over the Patriots helped ease the dislike a lot. Plus since 2011 they’ve have their struggles as well. The Jets even beat them 3 times in a row in the regular season now. And looking back the 1990 Giants were a pretty good team as well with a good coach. Super Bowl 28 is the one to bother me now the most all these years removed.

In real time I still remember thinking that call was BS but relieved and happy at the same moment

The Jets don’t look half bad this year so far. With 7 teams now in the playoffs it’s early but I could see them getting in if all holds up. The Sabres better step it up this year! I remember those years the Bills had the longest playoff drought in the 4 main sports…. it wasn’t nice!
