  1. Brandt is one of the only talent evaluators worth heeding. He might be the best. That is, other than the 100s of evaluators posting around here.
  2. And that's fine, you think it's Pegs. Some around here think it's Whaley. Some believe it's McD. Fact is, you really don't know and neither do I.
  3. Which QBs has he drafted/signed as FA? Pretty much everyone of those who evaluate the QBs in the draft say that one or more of them are likely to go in the top 10 picks. At the same time, most of them also say none of them are top 10 talents. If this is true, the Bills, who have a "good enough" QB already, would be better off either trading the first round pick or using it on a position of greater immediate need. If they want to add a QB later in the draft, Peterman, Webb or Kaaya might be options.
  4. This is a false narrative. First off, LA has always supported good teams. The original Rams were one of the top draws in the nation for decades. The Dodgers continue to draw up to 4 million a year in one of the worst traffic areas, the Lakers, lousy as they are, continue to draw large crowds. Same for the Kings, UCLA, USC. Secondly, the Rams stadium is south of the city, along the 405, and will be served by Metro Rail as well. It's very convenient to the Westside, and to Orange and San Diego counties. As to the disappearance of the middle class, this is a problem in every major city. In LA, this has been driven largely by the massive influx of millions of immigrants, quite a number of them well-to-do, that began with the Iranians after the fall of the Shah. Vast numbers of houses and commercial buildings are purchased sight unseen by Chinese as a way to move money out of China. Add in Thai, Indian, Russian, Armenian, Korean, various Middle Eastern groups, etc., all striving mightily to succeed, and you have the recipe for the sky rocketing prices driving out the middle class. In the late 70s, before this all began, a house in my neighborhood selling for over a $100 grand was considered pricey. Now they routinely sell for over a million. Weirder, they are then often torn down and replaced with massive houses, called "Persian Palaces." And while there is minimal interest in American football, their kids are increasingly playing the game. Long term, I'd think the market for good football in LA is positive.
  5. It's more of an ominous sign for the franchise. Owners who undercut their GM's (think Dan Snyder) pretty much guarantee ongoing confusion and a mess on the field.
  6. How'd he do it? Sneak in the GM's office and send him a contract? This is nonsense.
  7. Wow. 32 pages and counting, all based on a tweet by...LaCanfora? Man oh man.
  8. Very canny assessment. This is the sort of thing the weepy sheep at TBN should do but don't. I look forward to more of your contributions.
  9. About the kerfuffle about Mayock having Kizer first of the QBs, keep in mind he doesn't think any of them are top 10 and maybe not even first round worthy. In that light, he feels that Kizer is the best of a flawed bunch and the one with the most long-term upside. I know, I know, plenty of people around here believe Watson or Trubisky or even Mahomes are "can't miss" prospects. Mayock doesn't. I trust his judgment more than the fan's judgment.
  10. I don't believe anybody's sleeping on him. We all have high hopes that he will be healthy and become a major factor. Fingers crossed, because if it looks like he is "that guy," we have a pick we can use on another area of need instead of WR.
  11. Very good analysis which accords with my "eyeball" evaluation. And I have watched him his whole UCLA career. I thought he might be there in the 3rd round but now Mayock has moved him to #5 on his most recent evaluation.
  12. The Thread That Won't Die...
  13. The Bills currently have only 6 draft picks this year. I don't see how they can fill all the necessary slots with picks. They have to sign FAs and they will have to pay whatever the market determines to do that. In the case of ZB, they know what they've got, which is at least a decent, knowledgeable pro. Makes sense to resign him but if they don't, I'm not going to pull my hair out.
  14. Okay. There's some truth to this idea. Do you have any critiques specific to Darnold?
  15. Are you suggesting Mayock rigs his listings? You know, this is the guy who's widely regarded as the top evaluator of college talent. Doesn't mean he always gets it right but I don't think he'd last a minute if he was suspected of tanking for "favors." Strange remark
  16. His QB list is unchanged, with Kizer still his number 1 pick. He moved Lattimore to the top CB spot and added Fabian Moreau, which I was pleased to see. Moved Zay Jones up a spot at WR, added Smith-Schuster and dropped Kupp a spot. I picture Mayock watching film around the clock, his eyelids held open with toothpicks. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2017/03/21/mayock-updates-his-top-5-by-position-for-draft/
  17. Believe he's of Russian Jewish descent. I'd be interested to hear your critique of Darnold.
  18. Are you his agent? The guy is another one-year wonder (and not all that wonderful either). Think Mark Sanchez. The Bills could really use someone like that. Who'd have in mind?
  19. Is any team more widely, deeply and thoroughly hated than the Cowboys?
  20. The only way your claim works is by restricting your evidence to the first 3 rounds and by including the years 2009-2013. At the moment, the Bills seem to have a solid "replacement" for Gilmore in Darby, they have Seymour apparently ready to go, Listenbee makes up for the "loss" of Goodwin and might be a worthy replacement for Woods, and so on. To be blunt, you've massaged the data to support your narrative that the Bills suck, and made the clearly false claim that "that doesn't happen in Buffalo" when the facts show that it indeed does happen in Buffalo. Then you say that they have to spend on UFA's when that money could be spent on draftees on rookie contracts...which is exactly what they are doing vis a vis Gilmore and Woods, likely replacing them with guys on rookie contracts. You have me confused.
  21. Another good signing by McWhaley.
  22. Boyst, you've clearly forgotten where you are. This is TBD, off-season home to the Groundhog Day Threads Machine. If it ain't been re-threaded a 1000 times, it ain't resolved.
