NFL Trade Deadline: The Bills Trade Rumors Thread
ytownblofan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
There have been a total of what, 3 or 4 trades? Its not like the entire league is making moves and the Bills are sitting on our hands. I agree, the window is now to make a move and go for it, but Beane has proven he is not going to put the team in a long term hell situation for a short term gain and he's not going to get taken advantage of. -
I absolutely HATE our team’s focus on Special Teams

Ahh that clears it up, thanks for the clarification 🤣 -

You do realize Wyatt Teller wasn't that good when we traded him, right? When we traded him he looked marginal at best, and could barely crack the starting lineup. Nothing indicated that he would turn into an all-pro. If we knew he would be an all-pro, do you really think we would trade him? The answer is no. You act like the 3 or 4 ST only players that we roster are taking the place of pro-bowl players, when that isn't the case at all. Come on man, I get you're frustrated that maybe they didn't make the moves you wanted them to make. But take a moment and look at it objectively. They money they are spending on these core ST guys was not going to give them the ability to sign any top tier guys. They were going to be guys that ended up playing teams anyway. So why not retain guys that you know excel at the position and provide quality depth? -

Yeah bro. Even if the impact is "minimal" its still more than the ZERO impact that a 3rd string player that has no chance of seeing the field has. -

For every Wyatt Teller example, I can give you 5 players that never developed like we had hoped. Should we roster guys like Ed Wang over a guy that we know can make an immediate impact in special teams? Guys rarely go from marginal starter/backup to all pro caliber players. However, having a gunner that can routinely knock down punts or halt the opposing teams return game is extremely valuable. -

Ok, so lets take the $ aspect out of it and look at purely roster numbers. 11 starters on offense 11 starters on defense So 22 total starters. Now, lets give each position a backup, we are at 44 players of 53. Add in kicker, LS, and Punter, 47. That leaves 6 players left on the 53. I'll even grant a 3rd qb. So 5 players left that are not starters or backups. What should those 5 players excel at in order to earn a roster spot? The easy and clear answer is special teams. Why roster 5 guys that are not going to see the field on O or D and have no value on teams? -
Honestly, at this point I think the foot issue is a bigger deal than the head/neck/spine/whateveryouwantocallit injury. Mahomes is able to move in, around, and deep outside the pocket at an elite level when he is healthy. If he is hampered and unable to avoid rushers and can’t stop on a dime when on the run and drive into his “wow” throws, it significantly changes the game. I know Mahomes is notoriously good against the blitz but I wonder if we test him early and try to get him moving and putting stress on that foot to see how he holds up.

Would Josh Allen ever consider a team friendly contract?

I came here to say the same thing 😂 Any chance JA17 wants to open his own gym that the Bills can send their players to 😉 -
Stephon Gilmore knee injury potential?
ytownblofan replied to Seasons1992's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Highly doubt we see him this weekend, especially if the trade block rumors have any truth to them. Can't get a 1 for a guy that is seriously banged up -
Micah Hyde's Last Season In Buffalo?
ytownblofan replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hyde is a leader both on the field and in the locker room, and if we have learned anything from McD he is willing to keep and continue to pay his leaders (looking at you Lee Smith). I personally would be shocked if we moved on from him.- 74 replies

To be fair, we thought the same about Zay and were able to ship him off.
-
Hey! Thanks for the heads up. Guess it relieves me from thinking about/worrying about the game all week and watching on Sunday. You and @Buffalo_Stampede get along nicely I bet

His contract is going to be tough to move. Per Garafolo He is set to earn $15.75MM next year. 12.9 of it is guaranteed for injury and converts to a full guarantee if he is on the roster on the 3rd league day. Being that his ACL will not be fixed by March, I think they would have a tough time finding anyone willing to take on that salary for a guy coming off a major injury

Hot Take: This is going to actually improve the Browns. Baker tries to force it to OBJ a ton to keep him happy. However, when he has the ability to spread it out he is much better
-
A conditional 6th is better than him taking up space as a roster spot as an inactive on gamedays. But yeah, going to be tough to ship him off for anything substantial. I would expect a 6 next year.
-
I fully expect Harry Phillips to be shipped out. I would be surprised if we bring in 2 players just based on the compensation we would have to give up

A win is a win, "signature" or not. I'll happily take a 10-6 year and a chance in the playoffs over a 8-8 year with "signature" wins. That being said, for arguments sake, I would say Pittsburgh on SNF last year constitutes a signature win. Pitt was fighting for a playoff spot and had a top defense. We also went to their field, a notoriously tough place to play, won and clinched a playoff berth.

Darnold to start Sunday for Jets
ytownblofan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the heads up, this frees me up from watching on Sunday -
Ok, so here is my attempt to talk myself down from being so concerned. This game comes down to and has always come down to the offense. The Jets are going to be the Jets. They may put up some points, but even with a banged up D they are going to shoot themselves in the foot on several drives. We are not going to see the Jets convert 10/14 3rd downs like the chiefs. If we do, then we deserve any stress that comes along with it. If Josh and the offense come out pissed off and put up points like we know they can, then we should win this game. It is not going to be a blowout like many want, but a W is a W at the end of the year any way you dice it.

I don't hate the idea of calling up Duke, but a lot of that hinges on Milano, White and Feliciano. Its a given at this point that Dane Jackson will be called up. If Milano can't go, then we will likely call up a LB for depth. If Feliciano can't go, then we will likely call up an OL. If the impossible happens and all 3 are good to go, then yeah, have at it and call up Duke.
-
Yeah, I agree. It just does make me nervous. Offense needs to come out firing and the Dline needs to go to work. Don't want to give them any semblance of hope that they are in the game

Dean Marlowe, Siran Neal, and Dane Jackson are about to have very big roles this weekend, and that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies
