  1. Taylor for another year, build up the roster with young talent with the 4 picks we have in the first 2 rounds and 8 picks we have in the first 5 rounds, re-sign Joe Webb for one more year as our 3rd string QB, and then go for broke for a QB through FA, trade, or draft next year. I think this is something McDermott and Beane are willing to do. The fact that McDermott said "we are not as far along as everyone thinks we are" is a big indicator to me that he wants to build the core of this team, which as of last September was the 2nd oldest roster in the NFL and 9th oldest in terms of starting lineup. This board will go nuts, but I think it's probably option B or option C rather than option "HELL NO!!!" as some think it is.
  2. Didn't the Bills spend a lot of time with someone like Bryce Petty a couple years ago? To the point where they met up with him before the draft and took him out to dinner or something with Pegula? Beane and McDermott are doing their due diligence on the most important position in Football, but I wouldn't just assume that they're so intent on drafting a Franchise QB that they'll give up a bunch of picks to trade up or that they'll just ignore any worries or red flags they might have.
  3. Not the biggest fan of Rosen. I like him more than Allen, but I can see teams questioning his injury history, general demeanor and love for the game. He's behind Mayfield, Darnold, and Jackson for me.
  4. I agree, he probably has some serious plans to use them. But it might be to address all the other aging/weak positions on our team. McDermott keeps on stressing how much this is a process and recently talked about how this team isn't nearly as far along as people think it is. The Bills have 5 draft picks in the 1st 3 rounds, which are the rounds that are supposed to yield NFL starters. As of last September, the Bills had the 2nd oldest roster in the NFL and the 9th oldest starting lineup in the NFL: http://nfltraderumors.co/nfl-rosters-ranked-average-age/ http://www.espncricinfo.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/29045/cardinals-have-nfls-oldest-roster-browns-the-youngest I want McBeane to trade up in this draft for Mayfield or maybe Darnold or stay put and draft Jackson. But I think Beane and McDermott have a good amount of flexibility with the Pegulas knowing that we just broke the longest playoff drought in all of American sports in 2017. As much as people would absolutely hate it, flooding this roster with young (and cheap!) talent through the draft and "punting" (as Rodak puts it) the QB position for one more year isn't the worst option for this team. Address your aging team and build up your roster and roll with Taylor for one more year, and then be off the hook next year with regards to him and invest everything you can into that QB with a younger, stronger team in place. It's certainly a possibility.
  5. I don't. I don't think any vet QB is our target for starting QB next year. Less than a week and the new league year starts... finally.
  6. Because Baker Mayfield had one of the best 2 years in college football history passing the football over the last 2 year runs against high level competition, whereas Allen played for a bleh team in a bleh conference and put up bleh numbers. Not saying Allen absolutely will be a bust... but he's a buttload more likely to bust than any of the top 5 or 6 prospects.
  7. Okay, but he lasted 4 years, not 2, unlike what Coach Tuesday said. Almost zero percent chance Beane is fired after this season.
  8. Didn't Whaley last 4 years with EJ and Taylor?
  9. I think if we draft Jackson there's going to be a faction of this board up in arms about how Jackson is just Taylor 2.0 and McBeane failed before even seeing him play. Gonna be hilarious if he's who we draft... and I think he's our most likely pick And FTR, I want Mayfield then Darnold then Jackson then Rosen then Rudolph then Allen... in that order.
  10. Yep... clearly you're upset... or Josh Allen's mommy.
  11. Honestly... I'm starting to wonder if he's the first QB off the board
  12. https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/02/08/baker-mayfield-draft-browns-jets-cardinals-dolphins-saints-giants-redskins-chargers-bills-broncos Baker Mayfield’s 10 Potential Landing Spots 8. Buffalo BillsWhere they pick in Round 1: Nos. 21 and 22Key player: Brandon Beane, general managerI could see head coach Sean McDermott falling in love with Mayfield’s origin story—the two-time walk-on who won the Heisman. New offensive coordinator Brian Daboll oversaw a run-heavy offense as Alabama’s coordinator last year but has a great deal of familiarity with the offensive concepts employed at Oklahoma and across the college football landscape. In McDermott’s first year in Buffalo’s war room, they demonstrated a willingness to deal picks at any juncture, in any direction, moving back 17 picks in the first round, then moving up seven picks in the second round to draft wide receiver Zay Jones, and moving up 12 picks into the bottom of the second round to select offensive lineman Dion Dawkins. If they’re kicking themselves for not using last year’s 10th overall pick (traded to Kansas City) on Patrick Mahomes, they can use the capital acquired in that deal to trade up and draft another former Texas Tech quarterback in Mayfield. Tyrod Taylor said in January the team has yet to inform him of his status going into 2018, but it’s safe to assume they’re in the market for a replacement after benching him for Nathan Peterman at one point last season.
  13. You seem upset. Why?
  14. Mayfield isn't a scramble first guy... so I still don't get it.
  15. Well, luckily that's why you have coaches. Favre pretty adamantly and publicly refused to "teach" or "mentor" Rodgers while he was the backup. Taylor wouldn't be doing any teaching... he wouldn't have to. But I don't think Allen will ever be a Franchise QB, no matter who's teaching him.
  16. People here have been doing this ever since Beane got here as an argument for the next QB we draft. Beane may have said that nearly a year ago, but people change their minds. Or better yet, I don't think he said or meant that he would only exclusively consider a pocket QB.
  17. I heard Colin Cowherd today on his radio show do a top 10 trade for the 49ers at #9 with Buffalo so we could move up. He had us draft Allen... which I would be disgusted with and I really really don't think or want to happen. But if we did that and drafted Mayfield... super stoked!!! And I just bothered looking at Jimmy Johnson's draft chart... I think they would trade back to us for both our firsts since the 9th pick is worth 1350 and the 21st and 22nd picks are worth 1580. You can argue that's overpaying, but considering we'd still have 2 2nd rounders, 2 5th rounders and a 3rd and 4th round pick, I'd do it if we could ensure landing Mayfield.
  18. This all just has to be a smokescreen. I really just can't believe a smart NFL GM, as I hope and believe Beane is, would make this mistake again in the same way the Raiders did with Jamarcus Russell or the Titans did with Locker or we did with Manuel or etc.... May field!!! May field!!! May field!!! May field!!!
  19. Everyone voting Allen. Why? Legit question. And if you're argument is arm strength and measurables alone... may I refer you to former top overall pick for the Oakland Raiders Jamarcuss Russell?
  20. Good God... Colin Cowherd seems to think this is the case, too. I sure hope it's not remotely accurate, but Cowherd today on his show did a top 10 mock draft and predicted the 49ers would trade down with us and we would trade up to #9 to draft Allen. YUCK!!! If we do that to draft Mayfield, however... WOHOO!!!
  21. He might end up being better One thing's for sure... he can take a hit
  22. Seem like poor reasons. Cam Newton was the last Heisman winning QB to come into the NFL, wasn't he? Or was it Mariota? Regardless, both are doing just fine in the NFL, aren't they?
  23. I think you're misunderstanding me... we would absolutely need a vet on the roster, but it's going to be one of those "step down backup QB only" type guys.
  24. Yes. Next to Rosen... maybe even moreso... I think Mayfield could start week #1.
