  1. It's just a statement of the inevitable. Peterman will shoot himself in the foot and/or McCarron and/or Allen will be significantly better than Peterman. Just call me soothsayer
  2. It's between McCarron and Allen for the starting QB job. This thread has reached such bizarre lows.
  3. Why are people still talking as though Shady likely won't play week 1? Any time anyone in the national media says that it makes me think they don't know what they're talking about.
  4. And yet, 3 of the last 5 practices have gone to Allen in this QB race. And lest we forget, McDermott said coming into TC that Allen would primarily be 3rd on the depth chart, but Allen seemed to force his hand quickly. Direct from the Buffalo Bills website: Allen will regularly rotate in with the ones going forward. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Saturday morning that the rotation with the starting unit on offense will include all three quarterbacks for the foreseeable future. Hey... remember how some posters thought there was a less than 10% chance of Allen winning this???
  5. You gonna tell us to sand the floor next?
  6. And my guess is Allen is gonna get the most 1st team reps tomorrow based on McDermott's statement that they're going to start rotating reps. Allen is next in the rotation. If that happens, this rep count changes quickly.
  7. Let's be honest here... it's all critical. Allen is the only 1 of the QBs who has trended upwards throughout OTAs and Minicamp and Training Camp pretty much the entire way. Remember after OTAs how everyone was saying Minicamp was critical? I actually think at this point McDermott is looking harder for reasons NOT to start Allen than reasons TO start him. Seriously??? A guy who's played in 5 regular season games and thrown less than 200 career passes??? You're shocked easily.
  8. He won't answer. Clearly he's in denial. Just sad. This is truly a 2-man race between Allen and McCarron at this point.
  9. Pssssst.... Day 1 of Training Camp... also from Joe B: https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-observations-from-2018-buffalo-bills-training-camp-day-1 1) Josh Allen fights the nerves for an up-and-down day- Those fans that came to the first day of training camp for the Bills that were hoping for Josh Allen to blow everybody away throughout the entire practice didn't exactly get that. What they did get was a balanced combination of throws that drew some "oohs" and "aahs," along with others that made fans emit something that sounds like, "ugh." Allen, as the Bills intended, took the first day of camp while working almost exclusively with the third-team offense -- except when the Bills went into offensive walkthroughs, which is when he made his first-team reps. However, it is quite hard to ignore the simple fact that as compared to Nathan Peterman and A.J. McCarron, it isn't even close as to who has the most natural talent on the field of the quarterbacks. Allen is a gifted thrower when he's on target, and he showed it off on two team drill reps early in practice -- both of which to Robert Foster. The first, he floated one in right over the shoulder that hit the receiver perfectly in stride, showing a true touch in his first day. On the other fantastic throw, he hit Foster on a flag pattern to the right sideline -- which is a real strength for him. However, the end of practice didn't go so well for Allen. It was something that was a bit of a bugaboo for him during college, but on two short throws -- one rolling right and right in front of him, and the other a throw to the flat -- Allen airmailed it both times. On the last play of the practice, the Bills called Allen down on a would-be sack. So, again, some good and some bad -- without any interceptions -- but he's got to go through some rookie growing pains. The good news for the Bills is that he was the best quarterback on the field, for what it's worth on Day One. Just face it, the absurdity of your hyperbolic skepticism has been debunked. 4 days of Training Camp and Allen has been identified by one or more Bills beat reporters as the best QB of practice 2 times already. Yep, Allen only has a 5-10% (remember how it started as just 5 and you added the 10 later as though it was what you always said? ) chance of being the day 1 starter...
  10. Did he throw a 50 yard pass even on the play you're citing? Direct quote from the same article you're quoting: Peterman shows off the arm Josh Allen gets all the big headlines when it comes to the deep ball, but Peterman showed he can sling it when he needs to get downfield. Peterman found Cam Phillips on a rollout bomb in the end zone during 11-on-11 that brought the crowd to life at St. John Fisher. Where does it say there that he completed a 50 yard pass or, much less, threw a ball that travelled 50 yards in the air? Are you living in la la land?
  11. Do you understand what the term "zip" means as it relates to QBs? It has to do with throwing on a rope, not the high-arching trajectory of a "bomb." Big difference. Try again.
  12. Too many things here you say "are" that, at worst, "might be." I would argue that Incognito and Wood were clearly on the downside of their careers and would have been gone in another year or 2 anyway. It's well documented that we have reason to think Groy might be, at worst, a lateral move from Wood. Bodine has plenty of NFL experience. Miller already looks improved. Dawkins showed promise in year 1 and should improve. Mills was better last year than the year before. If WRs are shaky this year, it's better than the absolute crap we had last year. We're already better simply with a healthy Benjamin and the experience of Kerley. QB... well, everyone knows what I thought about Taylor, but you're also neglecting to mention on yuuuuuuge difference from last year, no matter who starts at QB... Dennison vs Dabol Can't get worse than Dennison, and OC and offensive scheme matters as much as offensive talent... just ask the Patriots.
  13. So how about instead of one respected writer/analyst that says Allen had the best day on, say, five days... how about 5 respected writers/analysts who say Allen had the best day on a day they all agree on First sentence of the article in the OP: "Saturday was not only Josh Allen’s best day of training camp so far, but he was arguably the best quarterback on the field for the Bills."
  14. Here's another one with about 4,000 votes. This one has Allen at 57% and McCarron at 34% The only consistency is that Peterman is less than 10%
  15. Weaseling? I've noticed that when you lose an argument you get a little bitter. Once again, who "won" all the days so far by the standards of whatever writers you find acceptable? I read up enough on these enough to know that writers don't generally rank QBs on a practice by practice basis, so what you're asking for is, in itself, a weasly request because there's no "running tab" that's consistently kept and all you can do to get an idea is read what different writers say and find the meat in the middle. But here are 2 more who said the same thing as Joe B about day 3... did you even look before asking?
  16. If all of them are bombs, sure. How often are rollouts in an offense predicated on moving the QB out of the pocket deep passes? I'm concerned with the majority of 5-20 yard NFL passes he'd be attempting that he was nearly incapable of last year, not the minority of flashy low percentage bombs he might throw.
  17. So a good 5 day stretch is meaningful but not a good 3 day stretch even though 3 days of Training Camp is all we've had??? Not 20% of the way if it's 3 out of your 5 day criteria. Joe B said he's been the best QB over the first 3 days of Training Camp. And Minicamp matters (it's called Minicamp, separate from OTAs for a reason) and Allen was good in his last 2 days there, too. So I provided the writer with a direct quote you asked for, can you provide a writer through now 4 days of Training Camp who has provided a "best of the QBs" list on a per day basis? Joe Buscaglia is the Bills beat writer and, love him or hate him, I would think he'd be one of the first sources anyone would go to in order to find per day performance evaluations considering after all the practices he does his "7 observations "write ups." Have the other writers been saying Allen has been noticeably worse than AJ or Peterman thus far?
  18. Interesting that this one, which has had over 4,000 people vote, have McCarron and Allen at a dead heat and Peterman nowhere in the race.
  19. Why are you providing a link to a subscription only site with absolutely no quote or context??? Many of us don't subscribe to the Buffalo News. Day 3 was when that was posted, right? Is Joe Buscaglia a professional writer??? Also from day 3: https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-observations-from-2018-buffalo-bills-training-camp-day-3 1) The Josh Allen Experience- Fans in attendance on Saturday saw to the sincerest form of Josh Allen -- at least the one that he portrayed during his college days. Early on during individual drills, he misfired a few rockets to his receivers that made them work a bit harder than they needed to. However, once it got to team drills, Allen started to shine. His first throw was an on-point slant route in tight coverage that the defensive back barely got a hand on to break it up. Then he read the next play correctly -- a pick play that freed up wideout Kaelin Clay on a wheel route -- and Allen put the perfect touch on the throw to hit Clay in stride, and he quickly ran into the end zone for a touchdown. The very next play, he made a fantastic anticipatory throw to Cam Phillips on a comeback route to the left sideline that was there as soon as the wideout turned. Allen was feeling himself, which is what led to the next part of the Josh Allen Experience. The next play, Allen spotted his target in the end zone on an out route, stared him down -- to which cornerback Ryan Carter baited him and quickly jumped in front for the interception. That play was entirely on Allen. However, his next round of reps was with the first-team and went well. His lone missed attempt went for an interception on paper, but it was on a throw that you'd want your quarterback to try in that situation. Allen threw a jump ball to the 6-foot-5 Kelvin Benjamin, to which most times the receiver will come down with the ball. It was tight coverage and went off his hands not once, but twice, and hung up in the air -- to which Jordan Poyer came over and caught the pass right before it hit the ground. That throw is one that was not made enough over the last three years, so I'm not going to fault him for it. All in all, his day ended 5-of-8 with one touchdown and two interceptions, with only one being his fault. He had the best practice of the group on Saturday and has been the best quarterback at camp thus far. Checks off 2 boxes... best day and best over a series of multiple days.
  20. It doesn't sound like he's had the $6 million dollar makeover some were saying he's had this offseason. Looks like a 6 dollar makeover, one that goes out the window if he's not dropping back and standing in a clean pocket in order to execute all those lower body mechanics he needs in order to show off all that "improved arm strength." Through 4 days of camp Dabol's offense looks to be incorporating a whole bunch of RPOs, rollouts and misdirection, often asking the QB to throw on the run. Not good...
  21. No, he said it after day 3, and he said Allen was the best QB through 3 days of Training Camp.
  22. Is our offensive talent this year somehow worse than last year when we made the playoffs?
  23. A few months and running already as a thread, bro.
  24. Factor????? Consider Allen the pace car of this QB race because that's exactly what he is, and he's clearly the one who's set the pace so far. Allen starts at Baltimore.
