  1. Exactly. That was what I was most pleased with. Allen honestly could have gotten killed just based on how porous our 2nd half OL was. But dude moved around the pocket well when he had to, hung in there and took a couple hits while delivering the ball (which I think all of us were gasping at) and chose to run smartly at other times, being sure to protect himself. I could see McDermott just shelving Allen for as long as he can while Peterman or McCarron start and win. The thing about it, I think, is that while McCarron or especially Peterman can be successful and win regular season games for us, it will be dependent on Dabol's game plan, which would be limited. And you could see that when Peterman was playing. Peterman was really good last night, but you can still see the limitations that just aren't there for Allen, who appears to be well ahead of where everyone projected him to be.
  2. FWIW, on the Colin Cowherd show today, Brady Quinn was a guest and he was asked questions about Baker Mayfield's performance. With absolutely no prompting or mention of Allen's name, Quinn said (to paraphrase) "ya know the guy who I thought was great last night: Josh Allen. He's the guy who looked like the #1 overall pick last night." He brought Allen's name in again at some point during that interview; again, with no prompting. I think you're all alone with blinders on if you thought Allen didn't look really, really good.
  3. I'm going to be fine with what McDermott chooses to do. Last night it was very, very obvious who the best QB on our team is. Allen is just head and shoulders more talented than the other 2 guys. And it seems pretty clear that the worries about an OL protecting him are greatly overblown as the 1st team OL looked very good AND when Allen had the 3rd string OL in front of him and was running for his life, anyway, he was successful. But the reason I'll be fine with what McDermott does is because both Peterman and McCarron looked fine. If they feel Allen really needs more development, okay. These coaches see him every day so they know what he needs, regardless of what the rest of us see.in one half of one preseason game. I think it'll be interesting to see what happens. He may very well have earned his time with the 1s yesterday, though. FWIW, on the Colin Cowherd show today, Brady Quinn was a guest and he was asked questions about Baker Mayfield's performance. 4. It was a really good performance, except for that bad pass. Far from breathtaking. The improved arm strength is noticeable, but far from what was advertised. Why are you fighting so hard? Are you really just trolling? Everyone thinks Peterman played well. But it's not like he's the 6 Million Dollar Man who was completely remade in the offseason. After today's performance I feel better than I did 24 hours ago if he's our placeholder to start the season... meaning I feel we could actually win games with him. What exactly about that do you feel the need to fight about?
  5. Who had a perfect outing? Peterman? He was good, but that interception was on him. Short pass to the receiver and he threw it behind him. Not perfect. Did you just friggin throw out completion % after that game??? Clearly you didn't watch the game... or you stopped watching after your hero left the field. What a joke.
  6. How are we supposed to know if that rings true yet? We haven't seen anything about McDermott's approach from here, yet. So you're asking this question, the obvious question you're forced answer first is how did you think each of the QBs played? Did you think Peterman's performance was "off-the-charts?" How about McCarron? Was Allen's performance "just okay?" Pretty curious as to what you think the level of each performance was because the level of each guy's performance dictates the entire statement you refer to. This is just a weird post from someone who either didn't watch the game or believes the QB is responsible for the faults of not just himself, but also the other 10 guys on offense. Allen was damn good tonight. I think we should all be a bit more comfortable with our QB situation right now.
  7. He may have earned some time in a game with the 1s based on what he was able to accomplish with what he was given. One of my favorites
  8. So... has the board suddenly shifted to this? I'll say this. All our QBs looked pretty darn good tonight, and that makes me happy. If Peterman's TC and preseason isn't a fluke (like last year), then I feel good even with him starting, primarily because I think our OL is much better than most thought it would be, just as I suspected. Which begs the question of whether it's really a good idea to let our Franchise QB get killed behind the terrible scrubs at OL out there in the 2nd half. Good thing Allen is big and athletic otherwise I think he's already on IR.
  9. Anyone notice that for the 2nd half of Thursday's game we will probably see Josh Allen probably with Corey Coleman at WR most of the time? We could potentially be watching a preview of the next decade QB to WR1... not saying either will happen for sure, but you typically don't see something like that play out in the 2nd half of a preseason game.
  10. We got him for a SEVENTH ROUND DRAFT PICK IN 2020!!!
  11. Joe B: 7 observations from 2018 Buffalo Bills training camp - Day 10 2) Peterman, Allen with a bounce-back practice- On Sunday, the performance of all three quarterbacks was less than spectacular. That day was one of the less impressive days of the group through training camp. However, on Monday, Nathan Peterman and rookie Josh Allen both had one of the better practices of camp thus far. Peterman started off the day completing each of his first seven passes, and they weren't just little dump downs and throws behind the line of scrimmage. Peterman was pushing the ball down the field and giving his targets a chance to make a play where the coverage was a bit tight. He ended the day 8-of-10, but this was as close to the version of Peterman that we saw during the spring. As for Allen, his stat line of 4-for-8 surely doesn't stand out, but it does when you provide the context of it. Two of his incompletions were blatant drops -- one that hit Travaris Cadet in the hands on a perfect deep pass that split the cornerback and safety in zone coverage, and another by Rod Streater that got both hands on it along the left sideline -- and another was a great throw over the middle that cornerback Breon Borders made a great play on to break up. Allen also had the lone touchdown of the day, a fastball that he somehow fed into the gut of Ray-Ray McCloud over the middle of the field while a defender was all over him. Of his 10 practices, this one was right up there as one of his most accurate.
  12. Checked 1st page. Checked 2nd page. Checked last page. How are people not more excited about an incredibly low risk (sounds like we lose a 5th at worst, is that right?) and incredibly high reward acquisition???? Love it!
  13. Your point is that the unknown is hard for us as fans to evaluate. I 100% agree. All we do is hear names and read practice reports from people who don’t have full context, so it’s at least incomplete, if not unreliable. Luckily McDermott— who’s now approaching 2 decades of NFL coaching and has a wealth of other experienced assistant NFL coaches to lean on—has had daily practice exposure through in person execution and studying practice film after that I can say pretty confidently that evaluation won’t be so hard for him. In other words, if he’s a good coach and is as meticulous as he sure appears to be, he’s going to know where the weak links on our team are going into Baltimore. When I said I prefer to embrace the unknown while you seem to fear it, you missed my underlying premise that unknown to you and me is not and will not be unknown to McDermott.
  14. All good points. And what you say is absolutely possible!
  15. Boy... you had to respond to a clearly hyperbolic word I used rather than just saying "good point," without even having to concede your own point? You go ahead and keep fearing the unknown. I'd rather embrace it
  16. Do you think the only position McDermott is assessing is QB? There seems to be this universal belief that our OL is going to suck and that belief is one of the main driving forces behind the reasoning as to why we shouldn't start Allen and I find it odd and a little humorous. I've said many times if our OL is atrocious, Allen shouldn't start. However, I've also said many times I think our OL is going to be a helluva lot better than expected. McDermott is going to have a level of comfort he needs with every player at every position in order to start him. Do you think McDermott and Beane were just like, "oh well, we aren't happy with our OL, but we'll just deal with them sucking for the time-being" OR Could it be that McDermott and Beane--reliant on scouting within the team, throughout the NFL, and in college--are actually very happy with the OL roster they've assembled? Unknown is not always bad... Actually, more like unknown to fans is probably not unknown to coaches and GMs. You're responding to me, and no he doesn't have enough of an arm to make all the throws... at least he didn't in 2017. See almost any throw to the sidelines last year. Here's one:
  17. It was over a week dead and you bumped it?!
  18. You're awfully defensive and vitriolic (not to mention nonsensical) responding to a post that contained none of that. Did I strike a nerve because I nailed it and you were one of those posters? If you weren't see blinded with old man's rage you might notice that I don't think this is the mindset of all the Peterman homers and that I don't even think there are many of them. See the first 4 words of your post, repeat them back to yourself, then take some Prozac, or smoke a joint, or do whatever you need to do to chill the hell out.
  19. Soooo... if Allen looks ready in Training Camp and Preseason, are you saying wait til you really know he's ready??? How do you determine it, then?
  20. I think it varies, but one faction of the Peterman "homers" (and honestly I don't think there are more than a few off the deep end, but I mean those holding off just that much longer from saying he shouldn't start) I think rolls over from some who were avidly anti-Tyrod and defended Peterman in the Chargers game with comments like "but Boca said 'he didn't even block me!' so clearly the OL just stopped playing!" These are people who saw Peterman as a preseason hero last year and wanted him to take the reins from Taylor last year and might still be a little bitter and are unable to accept what is a fairly objective and basic observation of Peterman based on his play: Noodle arm + Hero ball = Terrible starting QB Hence... Peterman = Terrible starting QB
  21. I think at this point there's a strong, non-homer argument to be made that Allen has a greater percentage chance of winning the starting QB job just based on 3 things: 1) Talent 2) Performance in a Bills uniform in 2018 3) Work Ethic 4) Talent 5) Teammate observation and Influence 6) Talent 7) Allocated money among our QBs
