Assuming a revamped o-line, a top 3 RB would take a ton of pressure off of Allen and if we could get modest WR play we could be legitimate contenders for a couple of years while Allen is on his rookie deal. It might seem insane to pay a guy that much money, but players that good change your whole team. We can absolutely afford it, as as long as the term isn't too long I think it would be a very aggressive move that could put us in a Big Ben year 2 situation if everything rolls just right.

of Wilson, Stafford, Cousins, Luck, Mahomes, Wentz, Goff, Garrapolo, Mayfield there are plenty of guys to carry the torch. You'll never see an era in the NFL ever again where you have Peyton Manning, Rodgers, Brees and Brady all playing at the same time. It's insane what we got to witness. They're probably the best 4 QBs to ever play the game. You aren't going to have that when the current group retires, but you'll find other first ballot HOFers.

I don't think they can't afford the cap hit to cut him today. They can cut him as soon as the new league year starts though without an issue, and I expect that they will.

I see the scale as a JaMarcus Russel -> Jay Cutler -> Brett Favre -> John Elway progression, even though a lot of people might say Favre was the better passer, i think Elway was the better "quarterback". I think comparisons to these guys are all reasonable based on being big cannon armed throwers with mobility ( besides Russell, but he sucks, so it doesn't matter). He's already better than Russel ever was, but isn't yet in Cutler territory, though his trajectory seems like it could be at least that good, if he can fix some things. In my eyes anything above that is extremely premature. When Allen makes a great play it looks like it came from one of the greats, but when he misses a 5 yard pass in the flats, overthrows deep balls, or loses pocket awareness it gives me a lot of pause. This is a kid that has a lot of things to work on to get to be in that coveted "top 10" QB spot. My biggest fear with him is that he's able to become good enough to be a Jay Cutler level QB that isn't good enough to win games in January and beyond, but is too good to get rid of, so we're all sitting here for the next 10 years praying it's the year he finally gets it together. For that reason, I'm pessimistic long term. On the short term side, I'm really hoping he makes massive strides over the rest of the year and the offseason and comes back next year looking like a vet. I don't expect Mahomes, because that just doesn't happen. If he can be young Big Ben, that would be more than I could realistically hope for at this point. Let's call it a 6 for now.

Allen needs to learn how to drop those in the bucket. He just doesn't have that timing down yet. He also did this in college all the time. The zones that Allen is throwing to down the field are much larger right now when compared to the great deep ball throwers in the game today, and some of them don't have anywhere near the arm that he has. In general Allen has a serious flaw, maybe his biggest, with gauging power. You see it on the short throws all the time, and I think it's also happening here. If the kid learns a little touch, he'll be deadly.

I'd try to collect as many second round picks as possible and do all of our drafting there. This team has about 15 holes, and it's on this staff to fill all of them as quickly as possible. 1 star player doesn't fix that, especially if it's on the line. The only offensive players that should be here at season end are Allen, Zay, Foster and maybe Teller. the rest of them should all be gone. Realistically, Dawkins, Bodine and Mills will probably still be here, and I'm willing to give McKenzie more time if they can buy him some stickum.

Have you watched him play? He's on TV every week here. I think if you were able to get inside Beane's head, he's thinking he picked the wrong guy.

The Bills are definitely in the top 10. They've had exciting games here and there and memorable moments. but they haven't been an "exciting" team since at least Fitzpatrick was here. This season's been particularly rough, because for all intents and purposes every game is just a scrimmage where only one guy's performance matters. Milano breaking out has been a welcome addition. This team is hopefully in the later stages of rebuild, and 50% of this roster is unlikely to be in the long term plans. I keep rooting for Zay to do stuff, I hope Edmunds can figure out how to play run D, I get excited watching Milano, but really all I'm there to do is see if the Bills have to draft another QB. None of these WRs seem like they have a bright future, though Foster and Jones have had their moments, the whole line is likely to be replaced, same with our TEs, everyone on our D-line is a known quantity with ceilings likely already passed, safeties are a known quantity, McCoy is Vontae Davis-level done, no exciting backs behind him, and our corners besides White have played respectably, but most of them probably won't be here long term. To me, watching a bunch of lame-duck players in another losing season doesn't make for a very exciting product, but I'm ok with that if either the one guy that needs to progress does so, or the coaches realize he isn't progressing and adjust course next season.

No, Vander Esch made himself a star. Right now he looks like the best linebacker talent to come out of the draft in 10 years.

Ah, my bad. I thought he was already in his 4th and they declined his option. Then my answer changes to Decline the 5th year, because he's not worth that, and see what happens next year. I think there's a pretty close to zero chance he blows up into a star player, but he'll be a contributing rotational player.

I think he did very well if you consider it all about progression. Objectively, I don't think it was a great day, but a solid one that looked better than the box score.

Of course. When he's great, he looks all-time elite, but he doesn't go there enough to offset the times where looks terrible. DO you want a QB like that? I don't. It makes it impossible to create a plan to win games on a consistent basis, because you never know what you're going to get. I'd rather have a guy that doesn't fly as high, but has a higher floor. Cam has had extremely talented teams around him with HOF talent and they constantly under-perform.

I think the Jags could use the return on a Ramsey trade to help get them a QB. The Rams could make an interesting trade partner, as could the chiefs. I think he has to go to a team that's Super Bowl ready with a QB on a rookie deal. That way you could pay Ramsey the $20M/season he'll need while you ride out the cheap years of your rookie.

I'm not sure they're that different in their ability to win football games. Foles had one great year and so did Cam. They both look terrible sometimes, and Cam has this way of absolutely blowing it against teams he should crush. I just don't think Newton is a very good QB. He'll come out one week and look like an MVP, and then he can't complete obvious reads and easy passes. He's inconsistent in the worst ways.

Well Cam has yet to have back to back winning seasons, and I don't think he's accomplished very much in this league for all of the talent that he has. I wouldn't want him on my team.
