Money is always the reason but another reason is there's too much of a competitive disadvantage in your example if you have an injury plagued roster (say only 46 healthy players that are active) while the other team has 50 healthy players in your example.

NFL owners OK flexing of Thursday night games
Doc Brown replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall
Immediate though - the trial basis is already over and it will expand in 2024. Second thought - all 32 owners are for it but they knew eight could save face with their fan bases. -
I'd pry put the 2020 MNF game at the Pats on that list (over the 2018 Dolphins game) when we ran up the score on them culminating with that ridiculous against the body throw to Diggs in the back corner of the end zone. Great list overall though and a lot of fun memories.

No asterisk. Not my fault he didn't have his priorities straight.

A nutless monkey QB could've won with that defense and running game that year. Their defense only let up 10.3 ppg in the regular season and only 5.75 ppg in their four playoff wins.

May all your wishes come true but particularly the one where you wish to host the Lombardi in a Bills uniform. For those worried the Super Bowl window with him is probably over I'm just going to list some notable NFL QB's who won their first Super Bowl after turning 27. Included only NFL players that are in HOF and/or were drafted in the top 32. I excluded the first five Super Bowls because they may have won one before their age 27 season if they existed. I also excluded Trent Dilfer because he's well Trent Dilfer. Roger Staubach - age 29, Bob Griese - 27, Ken Stabler - 31, Jim Plunkett - 33, Phil Simms - 31, Steve Young - 33, Brett Favre - 27, John Elway - 37, Kurt Warner - 28, Peyton Manning -30, Drew Brees - 31, Aaron Rodgers - 27, Eli Manning - 31, Joe Flacco - 28, Matt Stafford - 34

The thing is that no matter the outcome the civil suit the NFL wouldn't be able to punish him anyways since it happened before the draft. I'm thinking more long term as this case is ripe for the current political blue state/red state discourse that will only make him more polarizing reducing the likelihood of someone signing him. That's why I think he should lay low as possible and especially not give interviews with people like Tomi Lahren.

The big concern with Araiza is he has a heck of a leg but has trouble with control as he struggled in college with the pooch punt as most of the time he tried to pin a team inside the 20 the ball went into the end zone for a touchback most of the time. The two punters taken ahead of him were better in that area. I had him as my number two punter behind Stout before the draft but was thrilled to get him in the sixth. The problem with even bringing him in for a competition imo is that team will have outside public pressure on that team for him to win the job.
-
Possibly but even in those leagues owners are terrified of anything hurting their bottom line.

That and a statement saying he’s only interested in returning to football. Unfortunately, that may still not be enough because his situation will be used by grifters on both political sides of the aisle to push their culture war agenda. Thus amplifying his name and potential NFL teams determining he’s not worth it. Again, I do feel bad for him.
-
If I was him I'd want to go and scream to anyone who'd want to listen if I was falsely charged but it wouldn't get me any closer to an NFL roster. Especially in the social media age we live in and will continue to live in. Sad but true imo.
-
Not if he decides to make himself a cancel culture martyr (which may be more financially lucrative in its own right). If he does want to get a tryout with a team the less press he does right now the better so I question the advice he's getting. NFL teams hate outside distractions and a punter is not worth it no matter how much potential he has.

Antonio Brown - (Former) Arena Football League Owner
Doc Brown replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is it because he didn't pay enough of his WR's to field a roster? -
It's unfair to judge a veteran player like Saffold just by one rep. That's why you need to watch all of them last year to truly grasp how terrible he was.

Two other situations people like to ignore with the growing narrative you need an offensive minded head coach to get the most out of an elite QB's window...... -Drew Brees winning only one in 14 seasons under Sean Peyton. -Aaron Rodgers winning only one in 11 season with Rodgers as the starter under Mike McCarthy. Then zero in his four years under LaFluer.

I have no idea but he seems more on the conservative side that it'll take at least two losing seasons to fire McDermott and Beane imo. They've both built up enough of a successful tenure here so far to deserve that long of a leash imo. I think that both would be fired at the same time (unlike Ryan and Whaley) if he were to ever make that move.

The only way Trump loses is if you give Republican primary voters only two choices. DeSantis would pry be the best choice but Haley/Scott/Pence/Hutchinson would also work. If not you'll see a repeat of 2016 where all the non Trump candidates will just take away each other's votes allowing Trump to win with around 30% in a lot of states. Democrats were able to do this in 2020 when Klobachar and Buttigeg dropped out right before Super Tuesday and threw their support behind Biden stopping Sanders from winning the nomination. They knew a self described socialist would've been destroyed in the general election. Trump could beat Biden if he stuck to the issues but another candidate would probably have a much better chance.

Russia Was Not a Democratic Hoax
Doc Brown replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My gut instinct throughout this whole Trump/Russia ordeal was that Trump wasn't competent enough to collude with Russia so it was likely a "democratic hoax." It's a horrible look for the FBI, Hillary Clinton, and the media that pushed this. I do wish more people were aware of the extent to how effed up this was. -
You're probably correct as it would've been risky with the stakes for this team so high every season. I guess it's easy to second guess the coaches not being there every day at practice. Shakir did play well when he was the primary slot receiver in the two and a half games McKenzie was injured though. I would've liked a parallel universe where they benched McKenzie after the Ravens game and gave Shakir that role.
-
He probably would've signed with the Giants last year or this year if Daboll had a high opinion on him. He's always been a below average route runner and it showed last year. Combine that with a small catch radius along with shaky hands and I think not replacing him with Shakir early in the season as the primary slot WR was a mistake. Especially right after that Steelers game earlier in the year when McKenzie was out with a concussion. Allen and Shakir would've had the perfect opportunity the rest of the season to build chemistry and get "time on task" going into the playoffs. It also would've given the front office a bigger sample size of who Shakir is going into this off-season. Who knows what they do differently in both free agency and the draft. McKenzie still is a decent gadget player for creative offensive minds so the Colts under Steichen could maximize his strengths while hiding his weaknesses.

Historical Perspective of QB Running Game Contribution in Playoffs
Doc Brown replied to Dr.Sack's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's more a matter of when (not if) he'll get hurt taking those extra hits on QB runs. He did suffer that concussion against the Pats in 2019 on a scramble trying to bulldoze his way for a first down on a 3rd and long. My hope is we can put enough around him to make him less reliant on his legs like in 2020 where he had above average pass protection along with WR options outside and in the slot that could create separation quick in Diggs/Beasley (before the latter fell off a cliff in 2021). The addition of Kinkaid, Hardy, Sherfield, Torrence, and McGovern along with the "hope" that Brown will break out in year three will hopefully provide that. That's a lot of "ifs" though.
