Frazier: The hard FACTS on why many of us want a change.
LABILLBACKER replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I could care less what our defensive ranking or DVOA is in the regular season. Josh playing Superman gets us in the playoffs. Frazier and his weak predictable zone with zero pass rush gets us booted. Sure we can barely squeak by a weak 1st round opponent with a garbage qb ( Colts, NE, Mia.) because again Josh plays Superman with little offensive support. But when divisionals roll around its soft zone, no pass rush and adios. You'd think the McF apologists would've seen this movie before.- 192 replies

Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?
LABILLBACKER replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dude, we both agree about the same thing. The absolute only way the tampa2 works is with an elite pass rush. The only time we've had an elite pass rush over the last 5 years of T2 is with Von on the field. Guess what, Von comes out injured and the whole defensive scheme falls apart. KC plays man more than any team in the NFL and they have an elite pass rusher in Jones. -

Of course we should let him walk. He's a semi-decent LB but he's not worth a dime over 12M. If he's asking for 18-20 that should make the Bills decision very easy. He's not an elite LB anymore than Oliver is an elite DT. The only 3 elite players we've drafted in the last 5 years is Allen, Milano & White. And with Tre's acl, who knows if he ever returns to that ability? -

Forget about what we want as fans. What about a defensive scheme that has the aggressive capacity to actually win a playoff game? That's the real question. That should be the real objective with or without Edmunds. -
6-1 / 285 hardly screams 1 tech or even 3 tech. We've swung and missed on AJ & Boogie. And I'm not even convinced Groot will be more than a 8-9 sack guy. We need an elite pass rusher after Von leaves which will probably be in 2 years. Would've been nice if Ed was more dominant but it didn't happen. I'm sure we haven't seen the end of McD grasping at defensive players. But if Beane doesn't put his foot down and demand a shift to offense, they'll all lose the locker room.

These 4 areas improving will make us more competitive in the playoffs. My expectations for our playoff defense are zero.

Who's our slot WR in 2023, Shakir or...?
LABILLBACKER replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly...that's why we have to draft 2 wrs in April. When you start re-animating these old wrs that screams desperation. -
A theory about Allen and (some) red zone turnovers
LABILLBACKER replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everybody including Josh expected Gabe to blossom into this stud WR2. But clearly that KC game was a huge outlier. Gabe returned to be his usual inconsistent self as he led the team in drops. Frankly I'd give Gabe WR4 targets and no more. This team needs a mental reset on offense. Re-evaluate what your identity is, if Kenny boy is up for the task. -
If Frazier returns, how much will your enthusism die?
LABILLBACKER replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody cares anymore about how high the regular season defense gets ranked. . Once the lights go on and the playoffs start, the top5 D turns to bottom 5 real fast. 4 straight years and counting. -

LABILLBACKER replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
I do....stupidity....Andy would've encorporated Shakir into his offense immediately. Dorsey was like a newborn having no clue what to do and it showed. Letting the guys run street ball deep ball with little to no discipline taking advantage of checkdowns ( other than weeks 1-2). Shakir needs to be the slot guy getting 80% of the plays. I'm cutting Crowder, that experiment failed. I might keep Beasley around long enough to mentor Shakir. Davis takes on the WR4 role as our WR2 will have to come from 1st or 2nd round. -

Just looked at some sack numbers for 20-22. Over those 3 years we averaged 40 sacks per season. Those are very pedestrian numbers. How does McFrazier expect to generate enough qb pressure to justify keeping this ridiculous tampa2 zone? It's literally impossible with that little pressure. Then look at our sack/ pressure rate in the playoffs. It's terrible. -
I mean with Josh you have a punchers chance to make the playoffs every year. The problem starts with higher tier playoff competition, our coaches crap their collective pants. Not enough opponent strategy, adjustments or any clever deception. We become so predictable that there's almost no point in competing.
-
I think that's exactly what they'll do. He was a very good return guy who was ridiculously underutilized as a 3rd down back. It will be up to Dorsey to stop being such a dufus using Hines.

Jessie Pegula reveals more about Kim
LABILLBACKER replied to extrahammer's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you didn't believe it after last year you never will. Get well Kim and prayers to the entire Pegula family. -
We're not down on him. But you also can't ignore his dip in performance w/o Von. Remember when you draft a player in the last 10-12 picks of the first round, you're not getting 1st round talent. Every year there's usually only 12-18 true 1st round grades. I can live with 10-11 sacks over the next 2 seasons as long as Von gets 12+. If you want elite pass rushers you'll have to pay big bucks. Especially with how terrible our DE scouts are.

Hey don't laugh. Being a Bills Fan increases blood pressure, stress, blood sugar, heart murmurs, alcoholism 🤪 etc. It's probably well documented. -
And I can live with him and those numbers as my DE2. But in a couple years when Von is likely gone, don't be surprised to see those double digits disappear. We failed miserably on AJ & Boogie so as much as this makes me nauseous, we'll have to keep drafting 1 per year or hope more cap$ gets freed up. I wish we could afford Chris Jones in a year but I know that's not realistic.
-
Why do I want to rotate bad players. Get these guys in better shape so your top front 4 can play 70% of the time. What is this NBA load management? I don't see olineman getting rotated like hockey shifts.
-
Well I hope you're right. He's the only remaining young DE I have any faith in. And I'd be lying if I didn't say his performance post Von injury was weak. I'm expecting a minimum of 10 sacks. Especially if Von plays most of the season. AJE & Boogie are future cuts. There's nothing remarkable there to work with.

LABILLBACKER replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd have no problem Cole mentoring Shakir for a season as long as Shakir's targets gradually increase. I think Smoke, Crowder and McKenzie are all gone. Make Gabe your WR4 for his last 2 years. Then draft 2 WR's this season and 2 next season. -
FA and draft needs? Shoot your shot.

If they don't hurry up and wrap a good OL around him, he will never develop as a pocket passer nor will he have the longevity. -

Terry shouldn't have to explain anything to anyone. He almost lost his wife. His daughter jumped in and saved her just like Denny did for Damar. What a crazy year.... -

Tremaine is going to do nothing to extend Josh's career.
